That Sam Webb interview with coach Boynton Jr was just fantastic. Anyone interested in Coach May and the direction of the basketball program should listen
lol just thinking about these series of games gives me/us so much joy.
I'm quite certain that in two decades I'll still be watching some of these games still. And easily the game that will be the most rewatches will be OSU 2021. By far. It was as perfect of a game as could be scripted. It will/has replaced OSU 1969 as the most defining game in Michigan football history
These top four victories each could be argued among the most important in the history of Michigan football. Incredible that we got four of these wins in three years. We just lived through a football fairy tale
Even more reasons for Harbaugh to bounce to the NFL
Turned out well for everyone. Michigan has our three year fairy tale and the Natty-that-will-never-go-away. Harbaugh gets to leave much the way he arrived, but now amplified, as an all-time legend and absolute weirdo who loves football and loves Michigan. And we get our coach who might be a lifer.
sorta meh here in Virginia with a hazy sky. Still, it was what it was
I was struck by how much humanity has changed.
For about 199,800 years of human existence, a solar eclipse was an event with the most extreme mythology, a direct warning from god, a terrifying sign or significant somethingoranother
For the last 200 years or so, or 0.001% of human existence, it doesn't carry that same meaning (generally, but even today you have some wackos...)
Experiencing the eclipse was profound for me just in understanding our period within the history of humanity
I look forward to his public appearance at a basketball game and for the crowd to give him a huge ovation and the love he deserves. he'll always be a michigan man
This is accurate though - however it's a broad generalization and a delicate topic.
I'm an intercultural executive coach with extensive work in Japan.
It could go both ways as Othani helping his long time translator (and I assume confidant and friend), or the translator taking the fall for Othani. Neither of these would be surprising were it to happen in Japan. If you're familiar with cultural dimensions this gives some insight
I'm looking forward to Juwan Howard's next public event at UM. He deserves, and he'll receive, a huge ovation. He's a Michigan Man for life. I appreciated him coming back when we needed someone.
Didn't work out at all, and JH is partially responsible. But I believe he gave us his best. What a difficult time to go through with both his kids on the team. I imagined it more likely that he'd get a Natty, with his sons, and we'd watch it on 30 for 30
I wonder now if they'll instead make the documentary contrasting both legendary UM JH players who came back home as coaches at important times. One almost failed, but remained and became a champion. The other started on fire but crashed.
Harbaugh with the OSU battles. Rose Bowl and Saban's last loss. Legendary players with Hutch, JJ, Corum, Sainristril, etc. Juwan story has his health scare. Fab Five. His kids and conflict. This will be an intriguing and amazing story. I expect someone will do this well.
If we took Hoiberg I'd honestly feel bad for Nebraska. They've suffered in football and basketball for so long. Finally make the tourny and then steal their coach. That would be so Nebraska
Iowa State's head coach with the big buyout - doesn't look big to me at all as I wastch ISU demolish #1 Houston right now. ISU's style reminds me more than a little of Beilein... maybe it's because I'm remembering the good old days of beautiful execution and team play
I sort of disagree about Sainristil. He doesn't fit idealy as the outside corner they need, but Brad Holmes says and has each offseason has shown that he'll fill needs with free agency and then he'll draft football players. I honestly don't remember a Michigan player that was more awesome at football than Sainristil. He always rose to the occassion. BH likes to draft captains. Mikey is x2. He loves to compete. Detroit just gave the biggest contract ever to a special teamer b/c he's a damn footballer. I would never, ever, bet against Sainristil. He would be ideal in Detroit. Sticky in coverage. Man or Zone. And loves to attack the run. That's what Detroit wants. Hope he goest to Detroit though chances are low. He will succeed wherever he goes
pretty sure this is going to take many months. I'm guessing it'll come out after summer. It'll be glorious and extravegant and there is no time or cost limit. This will be buried with you in your coffin or will cause your decendents to declare war on each other to earn it as inheritance.
crazy that ALA football coach would be the one leading this... being one of the prime forces that pushed college football into this territory in the first place with the money being used to bring in players.
However, it makes sense. He has the voice and pedigree to speak on this topic. He's retired. He can cement his reputation even further nationally.
Your last couple sentences I think are what's most valuable for UM.
Sherrone will be here for a while. Even if he struggles at first he won't collapse, and UM will give him time to work it out (just like they did with Harbaugh).
In year 3 with Clink the DC and Sherrone and OC gelling, this team could be strategically really dangerous.
Sherrone has shown he's not only a great leader, he's a great offensive play caller and teacher. We'll never know the full balance between JH and SM for the offensive scheme, but the offense really developed when SM was promoted. It also happened to be when JJ arrived, so....
A young Clink learning how to addapt that system would be massive. He's a fast riser and absolutely loved by the players. Just like Sherrone Moore. I think we'll just have to ensure that Clink also trains his successor b/c UM DC won't be Clink's last position.
I really like everything I hear him say. All aspects of his demeanor and his answers. He just seems like a really great dude who is sincere and knows what he wants to do. I can imagine he's going to be great in recruiting. And he's 38? I will wait for results, but I can see a very high ceiling.
Agree. But I think Newsome is "high potential" "fast riser" and is ready to take on OL, with Moore in support of course. We WANT Moore being involved with the OL forever.
Honestly I'm not bothered at all about this. I wanted Harbaugh to stay b/c of course. But if he was going to go - and almost certainly he would either leave or go through this every year - this is the PERFECT scenario to leave. I expect that played a role in Harbuagh's decision making as well. It'll be interesting to hear what he says about this.
We have a head coach on staff that already beat Ohio fucking State! That's insane. Oh, he had the best OL in the country for three straight years as well. And the players love him. He was head coach for four games last year. That's insanely lucky in hindsight. He loves the university. He wants to be here and you'd expect he'll want to be here for a very long time. Much longer than Harbaugh was every planning on staying.
