We were paying $1700 a year for TV subs (DirecTV+premiums+Netflix). Now we pay about $750 a year and still watch everything we want whenever we want. A big part of that is not paying for all the sports packages between the Final Four and opening day at Michigan Stadium. Over the summer, we were paying $30 a month for everything we wanted. It requires about an hour a year of labor.
So looking at this, at least for football we need ABC/ESPN, Fox/FS1 and BTN. Vidgo covers all that for $60. Looks like the next best choice is YouTube at $65, also with all those.
We will take over Staples like we did The Garden. Everyone I know is already sending me links to Stubhub and Ticketmaster. Only question seems to be do we get the full day passes or just individual games. Personally, I wanted X and UNC with the S16 in LA. Couldn't be happier
But don't count your chickens! All other 3 teams in our sub-bracket are tough, and as Ace points out, tops of their seeds.
Saturday was my first game at the big house since 1989. I think the atmosphere is even better now than the late Bo era when I was at UM. Students are definitely much more hype now than then. Went into the student section for the 4th quarter, what a blast. Side note: the Yip Yips are seriously dedicated, they never break character. OMG, there are enough bathrooms now! Concessions are still wildly overpriced and terrible. And the end of the six-pack rule is sad but probably for the best. Overall A++++ experience. People are so freaking hype.
I had season tickets from 1985-1990, and in all that time, I always had the sneaking suspicion that Ed Hightower hated Michigan and always sent a lot of judgement calls the other way (even in the 80s he was already referred to as "veteran Big 10 official, Eddie Hightower"). Since 1990, I have been living on the west coast, and opportunities to watch UM basketball have been slim, and I sort of let my antipathy towards Hightower slip.
Since the advent of the BT Network, I see pretty much every game again, and now I'm sure Ed Hightower hates Michigan. There. I said it.
