I had no interest in college football when I started grad school at UW. And they were terrible when I started - they had that 0-12 season. But the next year they upset #3 USC which made me think "hmm, maybe college football is fun." So I went to their home game against Oregon where they got shitbeat and that was that for a while.
Until I went to Michigan for law school and decided to get season tickets based partly on that inkling of fun I experienced at UW. And oh man what a difference! The highs are higher, the lows are lower, and the whole damned thing just grabs onto your emotions and doesn't let go.
So no, I'm not conflicted today. Go Blue all the way. I've kept following UW as a distant second favorite team and I'm happy they're doing well. But I'll be as devastated as the rest of you if they beat Michigan tonight.
I’ve watched a fair bit of UW football this season and DeBoer makes a lot of baffling Frames-level clock management decisions. Could be a big factor next week.
This is just lawyer-speak saying the company itself is not under investigation for wrongdoing. Doesn’t mean there isn’t an investigation of someone else for doing something prohibited involving their platform.
I’ll wait to see what happens in the noon Big12 game before deciding who to root for in the SEC game. If Texas wins, then I don’t think there’s a danger of Georgia getting the 4 seed if they lose. It’ll be 1-Michigan, 2/3-Bama and Pac12 winner, 4-FSU if they win, Texas if Louisville wins.
So then root for Georgia if we want to play the Pac12 winner. Or root for Bama if we want to play either FSU or Texas. Probably the latter?
During the Egg Bowl last night, the announcers were saying he hadn’t taken a snap under center since 7th grade before this season because he’s been in Air Raid offenses. And he wasn’t used to having to turn his back to the defense to hand the ball off. Which seems subpar for Michigan’s offense.
A written order is required under the court rules, so it’s entirely plausible the judge is still working on that.
Form and Scope of Injunction. An order granting an injunction or restraining order
(1) must set forth the reasons for its issuance;
(2) must be specific in terms;
(3) must describe in reasonable detail, and not by reference to the complaint or other document, the acts restrained; and
(4) is binding only on the parties to the action, their officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys, and on those persons in active concert or participation with them who receive actual notice of the order by personal service or otherwise.
Sorry if I missed this, but has anyone seen the TRO motion itself? The doc posted in the other thread is just the brief in support of the motion. I’d assume the motion itself asks for a ruling by a specified time to give the team sufficient time to know who their head coach is today.
It looks like the Big Ten’s attorney entered an appearance since I checked it last night, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. They haven’t filed a response to the TRO or a request for time to file one before the judge rules.
Within. “Except in domestic relations actions, a temporary restraining order granted without notice expires by its terms within such time after entry, not to exceed 14 days, as the court sets”
Yes, but the opposing party (Big Ten) can move to dissolve the TRO sooner. Also the court may want to hear a preliminary injunction motion sooner rather than let the TRO effectively negate the entire suspension.
I see they’re trying to get around the problem that they can’t use the sportsmanship policy to punish Harbaugh directly by saying they’re punishing the institution by depriving it of its head coach for the games. Yeah, that’s probably not going to fly in a court
