My advice is broadly applicable: enjoy the ride, my friend. I worked my ass off in college and graduated with over a 3.9 GPA, publications to my name, teaching experience, etc. But, after reflecting on my time at UM, I can honestly say that all of that came at the expense of enriching friendships/relationships that I wish still existed in my life. So, certainly work hard, but don’t forget to enjoy life, too. Pick up (or build on) hobbies and passions, form lasting connections with people, and take time to focus on happiness. There’s no better place in the world to do that than Ann Arbor.
What in the hell are you talking about? You have no evidence to support your claims. I'm sure the dude worked his ass off to get our team prepared for OSU. Sometimes when you play the defending national champions, you get your ass beat, simple as that.
With regard to comments on the board saying it's nice and laid back, I certainly don't disagree. I'm just more into the electric atmosphere characteristic of Ann Arbor on football Saturdays.
I'm a PhD student at Stanford currently preparing to transfer back to UM to finish up there because, well, Stanford's not that awesome of a place to be honest. As far as the game goes, tailgating is limited and is largely concentrated to parking lots directly surrounding the stadium. Frankly, the scene is extremely weak compared to Ann Arbor. With regard to tickets, the enthusiasm surrounding Stanford football is underwhelming, and I really don't think they'd be that expensive, buying scalped or online. As far as bars go, the Rose and Crown, Nut House, or Nola are really the only ones worth considering. To be honest, you'd be better off spending as much time as you can in SF to just come down for the actual game. Again, I'm probably not the best person to give unbiased advice given my sour attitude towards the university, but that's my insight.
They're still in control of their destiny. They win out, they win the division given the tie break rule with wins over us and OSU. They're not going to win that game though if JT is QB.
Good God I hate checking the board sometimes. Until all of you naysayers have coached in a BCS game and the Super Bowl, shut the fuck up. It's JMFH, not John L. Smith. The dude abides by a system that has worked time and time again. If he feels Newsome is good enough to be out there, then put him the fuck out there. The way we're recruiting at O line, it's all going to work out just fine.
Thank you for making this point. Tired of seeing comparisons being made between Hill and Falcon. Two ACLs vs. broken bones = completely different story.
I don't think it's boredom or the fact that they're bad, they just have no depth. Yeah, they're injured, but that's no excuse. If we have a couple of guys in our secondary go down, yeah it's going to hurt us, but we're not going to become completely porous. Schematically, we have the guys who are versatile enough to compensate. They have good starters but not much behind them, and I think that's why they're struggling more this year. The depth of their Rose Bowl team was not tested.
They play in the Big 12, friend. That's a conference full of defenses that would be better off just not taking the field. Apparently you don't understand the benefit of having a team and defense that is capable of completely controlling the game tempo.
My best buddy (MSU alumnus) and I (UM alumnus) always go to blows throughout this week. Subtle jabs tend to escalate quickly. Should be interesting this week considering I have a little more ammo than years prior.
Let Rudock sling it down field first play out there. Sounds like his confidence is up this week and I'd love to see him and Chesson get in a groove early on.
