Came here to say Germaine…

Came here to say Germaine Crowell. Some friends and I went to this game back when I was in high school, the Silverdome was LOUD!

Frankfort is the best little lake town in the state. Sure it doesn't have the amenties that Traverse City or some others can offer but it has everything you need, no crowds, and quick access to abundant nature.

They shall not grow old is very good, if you can find the 30 "making of" it's also very worth the watch.

I have a 2018 Chevy Volt and I live in SW Michigan so our grid sourcing is natural gas, coal, and nuclear.

The Volt gets about 50 miles of electric only range before switching to a gas engine that allows you to continue to drive just a like a regular ICE car or truck.

Obviously my electric bill went but I'm still coming out much further head than if I was paying for gas for my 45 mile round trip commute.

Last May I put solar panels on my house and that has helped a ton to offset the extra cost of electricity. There is a 30% federal tax credit available for solar panels as well so I just got a big check back from the feds when I filed my taxes this year.

The new Prius Prime is a very intriguing option if you don't want an all electric car. roughly 40 miles of EV range and then 50+ MPG after that. Lots of exciting options in the coming years as well.

I watched WMU women vs Buffalo this season and I was very impressed with Taylor Williams. She had good handles for her size and is tough for other slower bigs to guard. She got into trouble when she tried to do too much with the ball and smaller players were able to poke the ball away. Needs to finish more consistently around the basket too. Definitely excited by this, she struck me as a high major player on a mid major team.

Looking at the flags at the end of the video I would say that time is very much wind-aided, still a fast looking kid.

Frankfort is the absolute…

Frankfort is the absolute best little beach town in Michigan. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Close Sleeping Bear Dunes and other great little nature spots.

Not remotely wind legal. Saline's track has the 100m dash running south to north, wind was STRONG out of the south yesterday. I was at a regional site that had the 100m running into the wind and it was brutal, virtually no fast times in the sprints.

came here to make sure someone mentioned Ingerson, thanks for coming through!

I have a 2018 chevy volt. I typically get in the high 50s for battery range in the summer and about 40 miles of battery range in the cold Michigan winters. The nice thing about the volt is that it has a standard ICE engine that kicks on when the battery runs out.

If you have a grid tied…

If you have a grid tied system a power outage will cause your house/charger to lose power. If you want to maintain power in a power outage you would need to have an off grid solar installation or a battery back up system that stores excess energy produced by the solar panels.

Craig Engels won the race…

Craig Engels won the race that Hobbs was in so I have to imagine he would be the #1 seed in the trials.

On the women's side Ziyah…

On the women's side Ziyah Holman is a decent bet to make the finals of the national championships in the 400m. You'll remember her from the viral video during the indoor track season when she made a huge comeback as the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay.

Alice Hill qualified in the steeple chase, Aurora Rynda in the 800, and Ericka VanderLende (Rockford HS) in the 5000m

Holman and VanderLende were highly regarded recruits and have so far lived up the their billing with Holman already breaking the school record in the 400m.

You're right, though 14 year old me did not have an eye for O-line play. All I remember seeing 20 times that game was little Freddie disappear into the line, we appeared to have him stopped for minimal gain, then he would squirt out the other side and run for 30 yards.

Our starting QB and safety, Brian Keim, would go on to have a good career for CMU and then coached at Stevensville Lakeshore for several years before stepping down after the 2019 season.

Sturgis High School

Present day, not good, not good at all

20ish years ago when I was in school, intermittent success. In 1998 we had an undefeated regular season only to lose to Freddie Russel in the playoffs. Technically we lost to the entire Romulus team but Freddie Russel did all the damage himself.

Another former Twin Valley member here. Sturgis '02. The good ole days.

That's good stuff.

That's good stuff.

I seem to remember Wolverine Devotee made some sort of innocuous post a few years back probably in 2015, likely about new apparel being released. This post was also the debut of his new avatar which was a logo that he created himself (hopefully correctly embedded below).

This was when WD was at the peak of his board activity, he and DiscussMan were always around. The first comment was something simple like "wait, did you just give yourself a logo?" I seem to remember the upvotes on that simple comment were staggering in number.

Isaiah Livers

I'm not trying to thread jack but I don't have enough points to start a thread and I thought the following might be of interest to people here.

I watched the Kalamazoo Central vs East Lansing Regional Final last night which was billed as Isaiah Livers vs Brandon Johns, who is a top 50 player in the class of 2018. I saw a K Central game earlier this year and came away a little disappointed with Livers' performance but last night was a different story. Livers was much more aggresive taking the ball to the hoop, getting followed a few times. There was a stretch in the second half when K Central started to pull away in which Livers hit a 3, got a steal and made a nice pass for a lay up, and made another 3, all within the span of a minute. His intensity level was much higher than the game I watched earlier in the season.

At this point Livers reminds me quite a bit of a DJ Wilson at the same age. Talented but still trying to figure out how to use it. He is clearly not comfortable with playing with his back to the basket but he has a nice jump shot and made 2 or 3 very nice passes to set up layups for his teammates. Depending on who returns to the Wolverines next year I could seem him benefiting from a redshirt year, with a gradual integration into the rotation the following year.

Brandon Johns was a big disappointment. He was clearly the most talented and athletic player on the floor but was non-existant virtually the whole game. He bricked and airballed two jumpshots and seemed to be taken out of the game by a shorter yet stronger defender, Rog Stein, who is quite a player in his own right.

Kalamazoo Central is playing championship level ball right now and they don't really have a weakness in their starting five. It will be fun to see what they do in the quarterfinals next week.

I watched him play a few

I watched him play a few weeks back against Loy Norrix and I came away a little disapointed after watching some of highlights from earlier in the season. I thought his jumpshot looked a little flat on the account of the ball resting on his palm rather than releasing off his finger tips. He wasn't as assertive rebounding the ball as one of this teammates, Rog Stein. He had trouble taking his defender off the dribble, but I think part of that his smaller quicker players were guarding him and I think he would have success driving against larger 3/4 at the college level.

He's definitely a good athlete with potential but I revised my expectations down from early contributor to waiting and watching his first year unless called into emergency duty. I may get out and see him once more depending on how far K Central goes in the tournament. Regionals are being played in Gull Lake/Richland which is only about 20 minutes from my house.

I've had good luck with this

I've had good luck with this stream tonight.

Well regarded but little known movie, Primer. A great examiniation of Time-travel. The same guy made the movie Upstream Color in 2013.

Small world

I'm from Sturgis and I had no idea that Sportsarama did this. Fun fact, Chance Stewart's family owns Sportsarama.

THJ

THJ deserves some praise after today's game. I know he didn't shoot well, but many of those were tough luck misses around the hoop, if 3 or 4 of his layups don't roll off the rim this would have been a completely different game. Despite his struggles on the offensive end he played strong defense all game and rebounded the ball well. He's too good of a shooter to fall into a prolonged slump, but the rest of game was really solid today.  Great win. Go Blue!
