Any time there's a subjective vote, there's going to be someone people think would be a better choice, but at least in this case it's impossible to argue that Parker wasn't deserving.  That D was not only incredibly successful and the heart of the Iowa team's success, but they were also visibly incredibly well coached, not just talented.

Records and eye test aside, I'd rather not have to go up against arguably the best coach in college football with a month of prep.  That being said, if you want to be the National Champions, you kind of have to be better than a one-loss SEC champ, so bring it on.

Agreed, but for a different…

Agreed, but for a different reason.  Bama and Texas have already played, and we have a result.  Now the committee has set them up to meet again in the National Championship game.  What if Bama wins out? Now you have them 1-1 vs each other.  Does the most recent win trump Bama's earlier loss to Texas? I realize that Texas has another loss in there, but that can't be the best situation they could come up with? A rematch?

It's great to watch players…

It's great to watch players like Mikey and Michael Barrett exemplify the idea that 'Those who stay will be champions'.  Get shuffled around, change positions more than once, fight through it all. Remain dedicated and come out the other end as great players making huge plays for a championship team.

Wait, they really didn't…

Wait, they really didn't score after that long run to the Nebraska 10?

Thanks, that was a good read.

Thanks, that was a good read.

All about making the right…

All about making the right choices in game.

- Coaches reading what OSU is giving us defensively and aggressively attacking it.  Last year proved that they can't cover everything we can do offensively.  Don't just keep running Edwards into an eight-man box or the equivalent.  Play calls can't wait until third quarter adjustments to exploit the weak links.

- RPO game. Call real reads and then JJ makes them well. If we end up with 50+ QB rushing yds, we're going to put points on the board.

- Defensively have patience and prioritize containing every single play.  Get QB pressure, since McCord isn't going to beat you with his legs, but keep everything else in front of us.

You need a bottle of C923?

You need a bottle of C923?

Impressed That he actually offered up that Dylan McCaffrey was number three.
Go get 'em

He always seemed like a talented kid just a little bit out of place.  Saw flashes, even early on, that showed a ton of promise, but never seemed to quite be in a system that let him flourish.  Good luck to him!

2 on 5

Looks to me like Rashan took two blockers, Aubrey took two, and McCray took #73 out of the play without even actually rushing.  I think those odds are going to work in our favor more often than not.

Young D above the shoulders I thought there would be a few busts as freshman and sophomores missed assignments, but I noted many times how sound everyone was on that side of the ball. Gaps were filled, tackles made and no YAC from receivers getting loose. They looked like a veteran defense.
Hill?

Not that the secondary didn't play well, but on first watch it looked like Hill gave up most of the yards through the air, although it's hard to always tell who should've been in coverage.  Granted, almost no YAC all day for anyone was awesome to see.

Ditto on Hudson, dude is solid.

Collins reason?

Luigi and Jeter obvioiusly banged up.  Any word on why Nico didn't make it?

Wheatly

Up the seam on play action.  18 yards for a 6-0 lead.

Aged well

Spurrier is one of those rare football people that just eventually wins you over.  I hated him at Florida.  Thought he was an arrogant big mouth prick.  Laughed when he failed at Washington.  Then watched him build SC to a real(ish) program and started to respect him more.  I'm sure that hearing him take shots at all the other SEC schools didn't hurt.

When he "fired himself", i thought that was a big breath of humble.  Now I see him as this down-to-earth, witty football lifer who actually seems genuine and enjoyable.

I can't think of many other coaches for whom my opinion had changed so dramatically over time.

Yes

That will do nicely, thank you.

This is...

absolutely how I must look to my better half right now.....

Thank god she's Blue, too.....
