Michigan got a new "legacy" number last night

We all know that certain jersey numbers are extra meaningful at Michigan.  #1 for a WR, #2 for a generational CB talent, #77 for a dominant O-lineman, etc.

I submit that, from now on, #0 will be worn by small but game-changing nicklebacks.  Mike deserves this legacy.

I like the idea - but would suggest it goes to only captains and true leaders - those who will play any place, any time to the benefit of the team.

Mikey Sainristil will always be one of my favorite all-time Michigan players.  Incredible legacy.

Ehh. Let’s wait and see who else wears it.

Both Navarre and Denard wore 16. Both were the only only qbs to beat osu over the course of like 20 years. Polar opposites. Same number

Amazing that coach Harbaugh saw it in Mikey to switch him to Defense. Hats off to Mikey for putting in the work and becoming a leader on and off the field. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mikey drafted in the top 3 rounds.

It's great to watch players like Mikey and Michael Barrett exemplify the idea that 'Those who stay will be champions'.  Get shuffled around, change positions more than once, fight through it all. Remain dedicated and come out the other end as great players making huge plays for a championship team.

Is Mike Sainristil the most underrated athlete in CFB? I was watching some older games a while back and it’s crazy to me that he ever started as a WR, and a GOOD one at that. The dude made some really spectacular grabs a couple of years ago before he switched over to defense. And he then proceeded to quickly, seamlessly become one of the most valuable defensive players in the Big Ten with a number of iconic key plays throughout the last two years. Mikey is a straight up BALLER. Really gonna miss seeing him play in the winged helmet after this year.

Amazing that Mikey, coming off some decent stats as a WR in 2021, including a flea-flicker catch vs. Ohio, agrees to give DB a try and excels to the point of hopefully being someone's Day 2 NFL pick. I was worried when I heard we needed a WR to switch to DB for 2022. But it worked out marvelously!

I like it.  novak's bball legacy is inspiring as well.  as it is written, defense wins championships.  Not to mention games.  It doesn't help you pass the eye test so much.  sincerely feel for FSU fans today.
