I respect your opinion, I…

I respect your opinion, I guess I just don’t see it that way since im experiencing it. I look at it the same as just talking about running into someone famous with a group of people who may find it interesting.

I was being a bit sarcastic in my OP talking about trying not to stare, but that obviously may not have come across.

Yeah I’m gonna get an angry…

Yeah I’m gonna get an angry knock at my door.

Not sure what is so weird…

Not sure what is so weird about it. This is a Michigan Blog, and it’s complete happenstance that we randomly live next to him. Not like I’m posting it on Twitter or Facebook for the world to see.

I probably think it’s cooler than it is given that I think that I have a strange connection to housing and UM football in that we purchased Ron Princes (former UM offensive analyst) house when we moved back to Ann Arbor, and my closest colleague lives in Bo’s old house.

But to each their own.

I ran into Mike Hart once as…

I ran into Mike Hart once as well like 3am outside of Bells Pizza. He was with Braylon who showed up in a purple Bentley (this was the year after he got drafted)

Trust me I have thought…

Trust me I have thought about it.

Yeah it’s probably on the…

Yeah it’s probably on the nicer end, but there are definitely swankier places in A2. I think he’s probably being smart with NIL money.

Pretty accurate. My wife…

Pretty accurate. My wife thinks I’m crazy.

Graduated ‘06 and moved back…

Graduated ‘06 and moved back with family in ‘18. A lot has changed, but it’s still definitely the Ann Arbor I love. I thought I would spend a lot more time on campus going to places like Dominiks (have not been since I moved) then I actually do, but have discovered a lot about the actual city that I never new existed when I was a student.

Miss the loss of the South U corridor especially then 5 dollar lunch special by gold medal winning Chef Jan at China Gate, but Joes Pizza is pretty phenomenal, better than NYPD. Glad that Mr.Spots is still there.

Ann Arbor is a great place to raise a family, schooling is top notch and there are an abundance of things to do with kids especially if you add in all the UM sporting events.

Minneapolis is a great city, if I wasn’t born there I would probably love it more. If the Twins are in town check out a game at Target Field.

I am a Sleep Physician, this…

I am a Sleep Physician, this is not as uncommon as you may think. Dreams occur in Stage-R (REM) sleep and we generally everyone spends time in stage-r when they sleep. So you are likely dreaming, but just not remembering your sleep. Now if you are not waking up feeling rested, or have issues with sleepiness during the day then it is possible that you have an underlying sleep disorder and need to be evaluated for something like sleep apnea.

There are 4 stages of sleep 1,2,3 (Deep), and stage-R. Deep sleep and Stage R are most closely linked with the formation and storage of memories and learning patterns. Sleep in general is necessary for our body to refresh its internal processes, cleanse toxins, and to dream. The recommended sleep times are 7-9 hours for adults 6 on the low end and 10 on the high end. Too much or too little sleep are associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular and mental health disorders.

I still remember where I was the first time I listened to Neutral Milk Hotel absolutely blew my mind. I have gone through many phases in my listening, from “alternative”, rap, indie, emo/punk, trance and then back to rock. Now I’m just a 30 something who thinks new music sucks. Anyways here is just a few on my list

Definitely on of my…

Definitely on of my favorites. Food has been consistently good for 15 years.

When I was in undergrad…

When I was in undergrad pregame and postgame meal used to be Mr. Spots or the 1 dollar hot dog guy in front of my house on State and Hoover.

Now pregame meal is beers and a scotch at Ashley’s, followed by Mr. Spots. Post game meal for a night game will be something along the lines of Chop House, Gratzi, Pacific Rim, or West end grill.

I love the RPMs, they are…

I love the RPMs, they are octagonal so it helps to bite the ball and gets me a bit more top spin to hit a heavier ball. The VS touches are nice as well, as you mentioned in an earlier post the natural gut crosses really add a lot of touch. They last a while, havent broke in a year, but likely because I don’t play enough, however I feel like they have lost a lot of their tension so they need to be.

Check out play your court…

Check out play your court. It’s 4.99 per month and it helps find like leveled players in your area to hit and play matches with.

I string crosses and mains at different tensions.

was a 4.5 in highschool, then stopped playing for like 10 years throughout college and medical training, picked back up about two years ago. Play once per week now.

30 years as a chemist…

30 years as a chemist/physicist, so basically you are a 50-60 year old buckeye spreading misinformation on a Michigan Blog…must be a pretty fulfilling life you live. Also I majored in saving lives, it’s what I do every day at Michigan medicine, vaccines work, and you have no clue what you are talking about.

Lastly, someone else posted some nonsensical crap about IgA and how it was the only antibody that could prevent infection. Not true. Even if it were true, the vaccine generates an IgA response

Yes I don’t understand why…

Yes I don’t understand why we insisted on slow play from the back with Mexico pressing so hard. It would be one thing if we could play tiki taka, but unfortunately we are not there yet.

I think our best set up would be a 4-2-3-1 with two defensive holding mids, McKinnie as a central attacking mid, and Pulisic and Reyna infront but tucked slightly wider behind the target man. This would allow one or both of them to play more of a False 9, and really let their creativity on the ball shine. The problem is that I am not sure if we have the personnel for that.

I don’t think that the USMNT…

I don’t think that the USMNT was as bad as you say, I also do not think that Mexico was all that great either. They would get hammered by the likes of France or Brazil.

You are absolutely correct about the defense, and that is clearly our weakest point, that being said I thought that John Brooks did well. McKenzie was a bit of a mess. And Yedlin and Dest underperformed.

McKinnie was IMO man of the match, and is really the number 10 of this team. Play needs to flow through him, akin to a Modric, or Deco.

Reyna and Pulisic did ok with limited touches, they do miss the class of their club teams Dortmund and Chelsea respectively, but the talent is there, and I would hope that given time they can gel a bit more. I do have a problem up front with Sargent. I think that we need a larger striker (Benzema, Lukaku) that would then allow Pulisic and Reyna to play off of him.

We were great on corners, but we really lack touch in the final 1/3 through normal build up. This was on display against Honduras as well, our service into the box was atrocious. Again I think that the talent is there, and it may just take time.

That being said, great win by the US, one of the more entertaining matches that I have seen our boys play in a lone time.

I’m in the “middle of this”…

I’m in the “middle of this” and it is real. My family members who are in the “middle of this” will tell you that this is real. My brother in law who is the CMO of Henry Ford Health will tell you that this is real. All my classmates and colleagues who are “in the middle of this” most assuredly will tell you that it is real. Who are you talking to?

Agree 100% It’s not just the…

Agree 100% It’s not just the mortality though, most lay-people also downplay or completely neglect the morbidity associated with the disease, and the shock this put on the whole health care system. An ICU full of vented COVID patients means that no one else is getting the care that they need.

I love how that the guy who…

I love that the guy who is not scared of a novel disease that has killed over 3 million people world wide has the audacity to call someone else arrogant. Go prey or something.

These board posts are always…

These board posts are always fun, it’s almost like the entire readership went to Medical School, or has an advance degree in epidemiology, virology or public health.

A few things, the vaccines only have EUAs as of now, though Pfizer (May 7th) and Moderna (June 1st) have applied for full license and approval, which they will most definitely get. The argument of “it’s not even FDA approved” is absurd. There is a large amount of real world data to demonstrate that these vaccines are safe and effective, getting full FDA approval is not going to change that. This vaccine along with social distancing and masking saved countless lives, things never got as bad as they could have because these policies were enacted quickly (relatively). When we were planning for the first surge, the initial thoughts were to turn the field house, or some of the dorms on the Hill into COVID wards, thankfully that didn’t happen and A2 did not get hit as hard as it could have, but I have colleagues practicing in ICUs in larger cities and things were as bad as they were reported to be. This is a deadly disease, not matter how many people argue that it is not.

This is categorically untrue…

This is categorically untrue. I am a physician at UM and our daily update from this morning has us at 20 hospitalized, a few of which are in the ICU and one patient who is pediatric ICU.

While this may not seem like a lot to you, hospitalizations from COVID are trending upwards. This is about preventing our Health care system from getting over run, protecting staff, and ensuring that non-Covid patients with critical needs can get in to the hospital for care when needed.

Ann Arbor luckily avoided the first wave, and we never had turn the field house into a 500 bed COVID units, where physicians who typically don’t treat upper respiratory infections would have been forced into duty.

LOR is phenomenal, but I gotta say WOT is by far my personal favorite (minus maybe book 8 or 9). Sanderson did a great job of finishing up the series after Jordan died. Although without LOR nothing else would have ever been written.

As a provider that will get…

As a provider that will get to work in the new neuroscience tower, I was incredibly excited when this became official. It had been in the works since I joined on as faculty. It will allow us to better care for our patients, so actually it is an investment in health care. Michigan medicine employs some of the best practitioners in the world, so we should have buildings that match that status.

I tend not to post on these…

I tend not to post on these boards, but as a physician and someone who has lost someone to cancer I felt the need to. First of, in my opinion I would go and visit your friend, you never want to be racked with guilt about wishing that you could see them one more time. Cancer is a horrible and debilitating disease, especially at the end stages, it is understandable why your friend does not want you to see him like that. I think that if you were to let them know that you were coming they would appreciate it. I know that when my father died of cancer people were visiting him at all hours of the day, it was a comfort to him and to our family. I know this is anecdotal, so you will have to use your best judgement.

Second...to the people posting random medial advise please stop. It is incorrect, irresponsible, and potentially dangerous. If a water diet could cure cancer, then more people would be on a water diet. Things that show promise in animal models, and limited human trials are often not reproducible when applied to the general public.

Good luck, I hope that your friend does not suffer too much.

I feel like im taking crazy pills

State is inferior, not just at sports but at life. Michigan is a better school, and its graduates go on to make more of themselves than Sparty grads do. Thats why they are little brother.

Gophers fans are the biggest bandwagon Fans I have ever seen. I suppose this translates to their players as well. Growing up in Minnesota I had the misfortune of living through 18 years of complete gopher incompetence, however every year gopher fans talk smack and by mid season they have given up on their team. Its impossible to have an intelligent football convo with a gopher fan because after they lose the typical response is "well were the gophers, and you're Michigan, you're supposed to beat us" they are spineless. You will never hear wolverines say, " well you're Alabama, you're supposed to beat us" to sum it up, Minnesota is a joke program, with joke coaches, joke players, and joke fans. Pretty sure this is OT sorry for the rant.
Who is this guy? I suppose that's why he went to State
