heyyy

it's the "I hate the NBA so I will post random complaints on any NBA-related thread without any real explanation" troll!

i don't know what league

You're watching but there's no way in hell you could win a title in the current NBA by running iso and trying to draw fouls.  The top-tier defenses are just too good and most players aren't good enough to live off of the drive game alone; this sort of play gets exposed during the playoffs. The most cited-to exception is the Dwyane Wade Heat title but that title was also partially won with typical Pat Riley defense and veteran leadership.

billups

I don't consider chauncey a "big" upgrade from Felton; Felton was having a solid season and he is much more suited to run D'Antoni's offense than Billups.  Plus, with Billups in the last year of his salary in 2012, he'll either be gone during next season and certainly afterwards, since the Knicks will most likely go after chris paul, who will have to take a pay cut to sign with the Knicks. Or by saying "big upgrade at PG" were you already banking on the possibility that the Knicks would pick up Paul after the 2012 season?

The nets can sign Williams to a max contract at any point after this season.  He wanted to go to NY, it was just a question of what team, and the Knicks can't offer him the max.  Prokhorov has 1.5 years to convince him that Brooklyn, Barclays Center, and a young, developing team is the right fit for him. I agree its a risky move but I think it was worth doing.

i'd much much much

rather have a top 3 point guard than a scorer that can't play defense.

no extension for Williams yet. They have 1.5 seasons to convince him to stay, I'm sure Prokhorov can think of something.

the fact that

you don't watch the NBA anymore belies your ability to credibly critique it.  Your argument that "most teams are simply iso-get our guy to the All-Star Game franchises" is like saying that most NCAA football teams pay their players and routinely violate the rules, aka a gross overstatement.

hard to say

how much influence Isiah has had in the 'Melo talks, but Woj seems to think it was an unfair deal, thus using that opinion to reinforce his position that Isiah was front and center in the deal.  I think the deal is ok for the Knicks this season, and will pay its dividends in the following seasons once the Chauncey contract is off the books next year and Chris Paul makes his expected jump to NYC.

Melo was going to NYC no matter what happened, and that's what drove the deal, not Isiah. Totally agreed though that Dolan should not be the owner of the Knicks and Isiah shouldn't even be allowed to fly into JFK let alone step foot in MSG.

ibaka

got robbed - he dunked by jumping BEFORE the foul-line and toy dunk was ridiculous also.  it's a hometown crowd though so I'm not surprised Blake made the finals.

saturday all-star festivities

are supposed to be a fun, entertaining experience for the fans and obviously should not be taken as a representation of the day-to-day product of the league. It's also an opportunity to watch the most amazing athletes in the world do ridiculous things. I love UM football but dude you have to chill out.

and no i'm not Stern

no question

its Pablo Escobar, er ... Matt Wile

loved this interview

very excited for barnett in this class - no wonder Hoke gave the pseudo fist pump during the presser.

Jocelyn Wildenstein

NY socialite and former defensive backs coach under Bo.

chip kelly

that was clutch, keeping composed after james called the TO. most coaches would've freaked and rattled the kid.

noooooooooooooo!

noooooooooooooo!

he prefers

seasonings like natural herbs and plants, such as bentgrass or bermuda, which he picks himself, naturally.

the rumor

was that he was in AZ to talk to Gruden bc Gruden is doing media for the BCS Champ game.

Or he just wanted to chill at his vacation crib.

looks like official

TCU issued a press release confirming the extended contract

still at +4 on bodog i think

extra point is a no brainer.

i just saw this

GLORIOUS!

"some other Woodson"

Yes his name was Rod Woodson. You may have heard of him already.

you forgot

the /s

i think

that 4th cup of coffee this morning was a bad idea for you ...

houston nutt

actually disciplining people? He's been spending too much time in The Grove.

Cali

Rarely see annoying OSU fans here, thankfully.  To be fair though, if you were stuck in the hellhole that is Columbus during football season rather than the warmer confines of CA, that would definitely have an effect on your temperment.

Rosenberg

Rosenberg is turning into the unofficial villain of MGoBlog; you can imagine him cackling gleefully in his dark basement whenever something bad happens to UofM.  Actually don't imagine it, because I'm sure that's what actually happens.

poor Roy

I hope he didn't suffer a "ruh roh" moment ...

adrian witty

adrian witty's face haunts me.

Dr. Steve

ahaha Dr. Steve = my new favorite poster

/s

if THE_KNOWLEDGE

ended up being Lloyd Brady, I think my world would end.  And yet it would all make perfect sense ... the Knowledge is everywhere, yet anonymous, at the same time.

getting a little misty

in the office ... i hate you dust!

one of the

classiest guys ever to wear the maize and blue. Great link!

damn you

now because of you, i have the katamari damacy music stuck in my head. damn you!!

when did

Kirk Cousins ever become a "real" QB? Somewhere, Jeff Smoker is outraged.

word

I back this wholeheartedly.  I live in the Bay Area now and it pains me whenever Oberon season starts up again ... haven't found a single store or bar out here that carries Bells. Anyone have any leads?

Herbie

Is relatively objective and fair-minded; he does his research and generally knows what he's talking about (research? buckeyes?). That being said, his freestyling of "Texas Fight" was atrocious.

If you think about which team looked more impressive over the supposedly stronger opponent, then you would have to go with U of M.  Head to head is a different story, which I think Desmond was getting at.

ND game

I think they both did an excellent job with last year's ND game. Millen was a little too ga-ga for Tate at certain points but weren't we all during that game?

Have always liked McDonough's style - understated, but he knows when to get excited (i.e. the Mathews TD).  Plus being a Boston native, he gets brownie points for his Sox telecasts on WSBK.

hmm

haha that definitely was not the intended effect ...

thanks

Dr. Octagon is one guy that we would NOT want operating on T-Woolf.

agreed

Ivanovic would've been a definite plus.  Also surprised they left out Wozniacki.

Starvin' Marvin

I love the bit about Marvin Robinson's hitting ability.  Cracking helmets is a plus in my book, if he cracks Pryor's helmet in November, the OMG SHIRTLESS bodes well for Josh Furman.

Touche

Haha as I scroll down, the comments just keep getting better and better ...

I love how

they directly refer to England's long history of falling short in the WC.  All they needed was missed penalties and Cristiano Ronaldo cackling in the background as Rooney is carded off.

it seems like it

it didn't help that his team went all the way to the CL final the year after they fired him ... but I'm sure his name will be mentioned after Bradley decides to move on.

for some reason this one always cracks me up: http://onion.com/9CUL35
It's not the other schools It's not the other schools but the Freep and other careless journalists that have been the problem. Other schools have been generally supportive of the Michigan football program throughout all of this, and to go after them would be missing the point.
i think blizzard has been successful for this exact strategy. while other companies in the industry have been failing to provide high quality games, relatively bug-free, because of the perceived need to push games out fast, Blizzard has always taken its time with its games - so not only is the product better, but they're able to maintain a high level of demand when the games are released. They've also been working on other stuff too, like Diablo III. They've chosen to focus on WoW for the past decade or so and I think they've done well for it. I don't work for Blizzard or anything but they (and to a lesser extent Rockstar) are the one of the only major companies that I think get this right. EA, if they didn't have such a monopoly on every sport, would probably suffer more because their games are always filled with bugs.
amazing article what a great read - while its sad knowing that Antonio had so much football potential, its awesome that he persevered and will get his degree from U of M, something that a lot of us can identify with as one of our proudest achievements and greatest memories. Good luck with everything #18!
arch DO NOT rent from Arch, for the love of God, do not rent from Arch. They use your sec. deposit as an excuse to basically renovate their crappy units.
McNulty's article seems to be McNulty's article seems to be steeped in way too much paranoia and conspiracy theory, so I take it with a grain of salt. Urban Meyer has demonstrated that he can be quite slick with recruiting, but is he sick enough to actually do this? I don't think he would sacrifice his health and family to secure additional recruits.
i agree I didn't mean to imply that you were ignorant of the situation - I apologize if you took it that way, clearly you are familiar the school and its past. The actions of the students were pretty terrible; the taunting of the parents was particularly bad. Some ribbing of the student-athletes is to be expected but spectator-family members shouldn't have to be attacked.
