Harbaugh has a chart of when to go for two and when not to. I assume the variables are score and time remaining. He's referenced it before and abides religiously. His chart must have said go for two in that situation. I doubt it had anything to do with Fleck. The two seemed relatively complementary toward one another this past week.
I think watching a defense collectively react to and then block on an interception return is one of the coolest things in football. These guys tackle, they don't block, and to see them all start blocking for the benefit of their team is really neat. It's really noticeable on the Kinnel interception.
But we wouldn't have been in a position to have a guy like Harris close out the game without the dominant performance of the DLine for most of the game.
Interesting that the mock draft also has Taco going to the Bengals at #27 and Butt to Green Bay at #29. That's the first time I've seen 3 Michigan guys projected in the first round. That would be great to see, unfortunately it would mean Jabrill leaving.
I wonder how close this mock draft had JD to the first round.
First of all I think you're splitting hairs here. Secondly, it might be because his intended receiver was further than 10 yards even though his pass was picked off at 9.
After the initial "break the internet" comment, which was unnecessary, it became pretty clear that this was not a story about a recruit.
Anyone bashing the video probably doesn't understand what kind of time it takes to put something like that together, not to mention it gave me chills. I saw a couple of the recruits (Mitchell and Hudson) retweeted it so I guess it hit home with them, too. I would consider that a success.
Glen Lake is by far my favorite lake in Michigan. Highly recommend this area (sleeping bear, Leland, Leelanau peninsula). You will not be disappointed.
Occupation: Asset based lending at GE Capital ...for now *sigh*
Location: Born in West Michigan. Live in Chicago.
Alum: LSA class of 2013 (Economics)
Most Michigan thing: Junior year my roommates and I repainted our porch on Vaughn St completely Maize & Blue with a large block M on the floor. Looked (looks?) awesome. Can somebody on campus verify it's still painted that way for me? Thanks.
Yeah, I get that. I was just asking because he was a sophomore last year and could have been on the JV team but he was pulled up to varsity even though he didn't play much. They must have valued daily practices on varsity as being more beneficial than game experience at the JV level where he would have been a focus.
Considering he only had one reception for 14 yards I'm curious why he didn't play on the JV squad instead. It seems that if a team is going to pull up a player to varsity he should be ready to see significant time. I'm wondering if he could have gotten more valuable playing experience down a level. I'm sure practicing with juniors and seniors on a daily basis was good for him though.
Simply because Devin Gardner deserves to end his Michigan career starting. Shane Morris will have his fair share of games. I see where you're coming from but I respectfully disagree.
I agree with this. I don't care how good of an OL coach you are, good luck teaching your players how to block more than one guy at a time. Borges is not helping the linemen with these predictable runs where the defense stacks the box. For the time being the offensive issues cannot be placed on Funk enough to justify letting him go.
That being said, obviously the offensive line personnel could be doing better and that, at least in part, is on Coach Funk. I'm not saying he's innocent in this debacle.
extends far beyond Indiana. I am now scared of anything I perceive to be unbalanced. I demand symmetry. I have 3 pens on each side of my desk right now. My lunch box is on the floor because I don't have a second lunch box to place up here next to me. This is my safe place. This is my safe place.....
..why did the Michigan football coaches decide to play Morris then? This is their job and while I'll agree that anyone can get split second (in game) decisions wrong, playing Morris against CMU wasn't a snap decision. I'll default to the coaches on this one. They know a lot more about footballing than any of us.
He asked his team if they wanted Wangler to commit and after a unanimous vote 'yes' Wangler had no choice but to oblige by decommitting from PSU and commit to the LSU, the place where you can be whatever your teammates want you to be.
First visit huh? That doesn't get you as many points as the last visit so hopefully Michigan has a high weekly bonus.

Anyways, I'd recommend Pizza House or Maize & Blue Deli. Both are big hits and right on/near South University so you wouldn't have to go far from campus. If you would like to explore a bit then I'd suggest Zingerman's in Kerrytown. That's a pretty neat part of town. Quickie Burger is also good but that doesn't strike me as a sit down "how do you like the college visit so far" type of place.
His initial impact is powerful but he'll have to keep his feet and drive through in college. Relies too much on that first hit to knock the ball carriers down and college running backs will just shrug him off. That should be easily remedied though with good coaching.
Overall this is an exciting pick up. Have to like his size for a linebacker. What league does he play in for high school? Competition looked "iffy" at times.
Edit: Nevermind. Extended hello post answered my question.
but, coming from somebody who played Rockford every year in football, their runningbacks are generally 5'5" max. They go the short and stout route and the guy standing next to him is in that same mold.
Interesting tactic really. Considering the talent pool they have to pull from I'm sure they could find a 6' bruiser but I can't argue with their numbers. They were always very successful running the ball with those smaller guys.
Edit: I'm speaking about Braden. Thought I clicked reply to somebody commenting on his ability to consume the player he is standing next to in the picture.
there was an interview with Westphal where he stated that the UM coaches told him to take his time and not commit yet. He might just be taking their advice and going through the process more completely. It's pretty clear he likes Michigan and has maintained that they are the "standard" since that interview.
I'm not saying anything illegal is going on, it could all be his own hard earned cash, but don't say $50 when $300 is clearly visible plus a stack of bills below it. Looks awfully fishy to me and the fact that it was deleted soon after only adds to my skepticism.
I hate the idea of playing Ohio twice a year let alone 7 days apart. It severely dilutes the meaning of the rivalry for me. It's called "The Game" not "The Games" as would become the norm if they remain in separate divisions.
Once a year with all the chips on the table. That's how it's always been and how I think it should remain. The losing team should have to sit with that taste in their mouth for 365 days.
However, I think Deveon Smith is vastly underrated. If you look at his senior highlights he is very impressive. His film is arguably more impressive than Green's. I'm sure caveats about competition apply but Smith appears to have a high ceiling, especially behind those offensive line recruits you mentioned. Green is important but Smith will be very productive as well. I'm not so sure I would peg him as more important than others.
That being said, it's great to be in a position with recruits like this where we can debate about which 5 star is more important rather than hoping for any 5 star at all. It's a no lose situation as far as I'm concerned. I would like all 3 (Green, McQuay, & Treadwell) obviously, but if we don't get any of them this class is still has a great mix of talent that will accomplish big things. Go Blue.
Maybe Wisconsin will take a look at Butch Jones now. Wouldn't be a bad hire for them and considering the schools courting him you'd have to think Wisconsin could get him if they wanted to.
I'm just glad we didn't go 0-4 against them while I've been a student. That would have left a bitter taste in my mouth. It stinks that seniors last year had to endure that.
I'm from Grand Haven and it's a good vacation spot with a great beach but next week is coast guard festival and people flock from everywhere to the city so it's pretty congested. I'm not sure when you're looking to come up but I'd keep that in mind. If you want less people but some pretty nice beaches still I'd head north up the coast. Ludington is up that way and it's pretty nice as well.

You just like names that begin with K and have 13 letters.
At the 6 minute mark he had to have chucked that ball 70 yards.

Sam Webb stated on a recent recruiting roundup that he was convinced Clemson was Michigan's biggest competition for Solomon. Take that FWIW.

Is that Caleb Kelly peeking his head into the side of this picture? The other picture I saw was Crawford and Long for sure.

I thought it was a dig at the Jabari Parker to msu "report"
none of you are the brightest tool in the shed. dummies
The ball carrier is past the LOS and heading for the endzone. If that's what happens when your players block one another then that is 100% ok with me.

It went out 3 hours ago with a 'hip deal' or something.
