That would be awesome! I've been playing and coaching hockey for over 30 years and I'd still find this fascinating. Something like a Neck Sharpies that breaks down a quick series of plays would be really interesting.
One of my favorite things to do is take people to their first game and just let them ask questions. This game is so great, but it can be really opaque to a newcomers. A lot of long time fans even don't understand the importance of off puck movement. I've played beer league with guys who started playing in their 30's. They'd bee watching for year and LOVE hockey. But get them on the ice and they quickly realize they have no clue what they're doing. Which is fine, it's beer league after all.
Anyway, I'd dig it. I'm sure others would too. I think it'd go a long way to helping people better appreciate this game of controlled chaos. Thanks for the work you're already doing Alex! It's good stuff!
I've been in that building. It used to be a daycare. We looked at it as an option for my oldest. It's a beautiful space. The idea of a daycare turned marijuana dispensary is kind of awesome.
I like the idea of having as much of the regular content as is feasible. I think adding some basketball, hockey, and other sports (SOCCER!) content would be great!
This is pretty much exactly where I am. I'm not so much mad Michigan lost. I'm not upset with the coaches or the players. I'm a little mad that there were so many buckeyes sitting around me in the stadium.
I'm mad that OSU cheats and is continuously rewarded for it. I'm mad that they're never punished for flaunting the rules. I'm mad at the injustice.
What if the Columbus born and raised Al Washington was just a spy for OSU? What if he was coaching the OLBs in a way that made them look good against most of the country, but provided a specific weakness OSU could leverage? Didn't Haskins and Co. just torch the OLBs?
What if Mattison has been in the pocket of Big Buckeye for years? We only beat OSU once during his most recent stint here. What if he's been working to make the M defense be really good against all comers except OSU? We didn't get any pressure on Haskins this last go round. Coincidence? Maybe Mattison purposefully put the OL in a position to fail against OSU.
Maybe they're both gone because Detective Don Brown started to get wise to their shenanigans. Mattison bolted back to the Mother Ship thinking that would take the heat off Washington. Since Washington is younger he would theoretically have more of a future in the belly of the beast. Mattison take the hit and Operation Underbelly can continue unabated. BUT, Detective Brown was too close. They were both compromised and had to bail before the full extent of their espionage was exposed. Jim Tressel, who was obviously the mastermind behind all of this, arranged for them to get jobs with the OSU program as a reward for their courageous spy work.
Is there any evidence Don Brown was at the game? I've not seen one of his units be outmaneuvered like this in... ever. I still believe in Officer Brown, but that was a really bad outing.
Being a Michigan football fan is starting to feel like a read through Steven King's The Dark Tower series. It's awesome and wonderful and an amazing journey. You become infatuated with the characters and world King has created. The hero finally makes it to the end of his quest, and then the end happens.
Yesterday felt like how I felt reading that last chapter. How I imagine Roland must have felt. Not again. Not again.
Thanks for doing this. It's a great platform for the candidates to reach voters, and a great way for voters to hear what the candidates have to say. This is really valuable.
That's fantastic! Last season, my now 2.5 year old climbed onto my lap while a game was on. Run to the edge, player taken out of bounds. She says, "They give him hug." Sure, close enough. Next play, run up the middle, big collision. "They go boom!" Every play for the next hour was assigned either "They give him big hug" or "They go boom!"
These guys sound awesome! Yes they sound like Zeppelin. When was the last time we heard a new Zeppelin song though? I'm glad they've picked up the torch. Looking forward to more good stuff from this crew!
I've been listening to almost nothing but Leo Moracchioli (Frog Leap Studios) covers on YouTube for a month now. He does heavy metal covers of all sorts of songs (mostly pop and rock). I'm not normally a metal guy, but I can't stop listening to this dude's stuff.
I'm not getting consistent updates to my RSS feed reader (feedly). Small issue, but I use it to notify me of new posts on the site. I wont get anything for a few days, then I'll get a bunch all at once.
I thought that was a great conversation. I wish there had been more time. It's nice to hear a candidate for public office offer some specifics. Thanks for doing this. It'll be interesting to see if any other candidates take you up on your offer.
I know El-Sayed was a U-M student, and is a U-M sports fan. If you have another candidate on, it'd be neat to hear their ties to Michigan at the top. Just to satisfy my personal curiosity.
The University is buzzing right now. People I know don't follow Michigan athletics at all are having lengthy discussions about this outside their offices in my building (academic unit at U-M).
