Always one bracket purely on gut, complete within 5 minutes. Then another I obsess over. My gut bracket is almost always better - I hear you have twice as many nerve endings in your gut as in your brain...
Peppers - glue for a historically dominant defense
2. Offensive MVP:
Speight - #H3ISMAN2017
3. Defensive MVP:
Taco - truly unstoppable late... unless held
4. Special Teams MVP:
Allen - showed his nerves who was boss during the bye week, absorbed voodoo punting skills from Iowa's Golden God
5. Best Offensive Player:
Speight - #H3ISMAN2017
6. Best Defensive Player:
Air Jourdan - best in the country at his position, absolute lockdown year
7. Most Improved Player:
Speight is the obvious choice, but to share the love, McCray - went from assumed liability to stud; notably improved edge protection as the year progressed
8. Freshman of the Year:
Evans - mold of TJ Yeldon, but will be better than him as a sophmore
9. Coordinator/Position Coach of the Year:
Don Brown - can't argue with the defensive stats; super impressive for his first year at the program
10. Most Underrated Player of 2016:
Allen - so rare to have a good college kicker or punter, to have plusses at both positions come from one man is insane
11. Favorite Offesnive Player of 2016:
McDoooooooooooooooom - 'nuff said
12. Favorite Defensive Player of 2016:
Mo Burst Mo Hurst - #BellyRub
13. Play/Highlight of the Year:
The Mona Lisa of Punt Returns
14. Game of the Year:
Colorado - started by making me think this would be just another Michigan season and that Harbaugh wouldn't live up to the hype... ended with a blowout of a top-10 team
"Legal, therefore okay" isn't a very compelling argument.
Both from like a "let's debate this" standpoint, because plenty of terrible things (slavery) were legal at the time, and from a common decency standpoint: a player just suffered a year-long injury because a full-grown man violently hurled himself at his knees with no other purpose than to take him out of the play.
I think the distinction you're missing is between "part of the game, but violent" (e.g., big shoulder-pad to chest hits) and "violent, but technically permissible" (e.g., targeting a dude's knees).
I was laying on my couch on a chill Sunday, and thought I'd check out ESPN to see what was going on - and noticed that they'd come out with an Austin Hatch documentary.
I feel pretty bad about this. It might have been Austin's decision, but after all that I've heard him say before (e.g. "I have a lot more work to do..."), I do wonder if he was at all pressured to make this decision. Not by Beilein or the staff obviously, but he's a smart kid and knew the situation.
It'll be too easy for folks wanting to hate on M to turn this into a negative story.

I almost posted this as "Shane Morris to transfer to CMU" but then foresaw the incoming negbang and caveated the hell out of the title.

Thanks for this. Needed something uplifting today - and the perspective definitely helps.
Or, we could just always attack - with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
I didn't know about the Butt tap thing for the student section... that's pretty hilarious.

About twenty minutes later, I was a mess.
I'd just like to remind everybody that at this time last year, we were thinking about the "right to rush four."
We've come a long way since then.
