It is sad the way the system failed both JH and U of M basketball in all this. He should not have been allowed to coach this past season. He seems to still have a ways to go in recovering from the aortic aneurysm and associated issues.
Looking forward to Illini v MSU. They stumbled badly v the other msu here this season. Should have won that one. It is good for their program to be in a bowl game at this level.

The team played hard, and at the end were driving into the closed end of the horseshoe toward what could have been a game winning score that ended short. Our players carried coach Benny Oosterbaan off the field on their shoulders as his career as HC ended.
I was assigned to an AFEES in 1964 where i was lead physician. We processed on avg. 50 to 100 potential draftees daily. During the 18 months i was there i do not believe we certified anyone for exemption from the draft on their claim of being gay. That may have been occurring elsewhere, but i cannot believe it was at all common. Perhaps a few of the cases we passed as fit for duty at were appealed at another level.

After that mess in Cbus last November the bowl game had very little appeal to many fans as well. Pretty hard to go on after that one.
