Zach Charbonnet on why he's at UCLA... because he "likes not having lies told to him."
Reggie Bush just interviewed Zach Charbonnet on Big Noon and asked what's great at UCLA. ZC responded first with the culture, but then continued that he likes "not having lies told to him."
Seems like he's a bit salty and decided to take an unnecessary shot at the UM Coaching staff.
I'm sure getting buried by the rest of UM's RBs has nothing to do with that.

Well good. Glad that everyone involved is happy.

The lie:
"You're good enough to be the starting running back here at Michigan!"
October 8th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
Heard that too. Sorry to hear he feels that way.

Best revenge is living well. People who can't do that generally were part of the problem they're bitching about to begin with.

He was referring to Cottage Inn. They once gave him a pizza with pineapple on it. He transfered the next day. He still says his mantra, "if it has pineapple, it ain't pizza" before every game.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
He's from Southern Cali, so if anything, he probably likes pineapple, quinoa, and botox on his pizzas.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
Dude, nobody here cares about pizza.
Sashimi brother. Rice and pizza make you fat, and even in the 80 degree fall chill, in LA you need to keep it tight for the beach.
You can keep the wrinkles, we’ll take care of the perfectly tanned botoxed bikini babes for you.

It took 14 years, but I finally found great pizza in Minneapolis last night.
Parkway Pizza. Spicy garlic chicken pizza with Sriracha. Goddamn was that tasty!
October 8th, 2022 at 3:27 PM ^
Notably, no pineapple.
October 8th, 2022 at 3:27 PM ^
I moved to Minneapolis in '99. It was a pizza desert; mostly the super thin crust cut in little squares.
I live 2 blocks from Parkway, it's good, but there are, fortunately many better. Try Young Joni, Cossetta's in St Paul for NYC style, and Wrecktangle for Detroit style.
Go Blue!

Thanks for the tip!

This implies you haven't been to Young Joni yet. Rectify post haste.

I saw you on Jersey Shore! Fist Pump, fist pump, fist pump!
October 8th, 2022 at 11:48 AM ^
Saw that too.
Love me some Zach but Meritocracy seems to be real in Ann Arbor. Hopefully, Zach continues to do well at UCLA and his comment does not become a distraction.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
I was super bummed when he transferred. He’ll probably play in the NFL, but he didn’t outplay Haskins and he’d be second string to Corum this year.
I’ve been lied to and defrauded at jobs, but saying anything just makes me look like a sucker and/or someone who doesn’t take responsibility for his situation. Charbonet will learn that lesson.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:48 AM ^
I was wondering about that. I'm guessing it was less about "lies" and more about being told something only to have circumstances change.
If you're mature, you're understand that. If you're a 20-year-old kid, it's harder to understand.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:49 AM ^
I thought that’s what i heard and thought whoa that was a brash statement. Thanks for confirming. Maybe we will play them down the road!
October 8th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
Sorry Haskins and Corum are better backs.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:07 PM ^
Yeah, which is amazing, because ZC is a pretty good back. Then you toss Donovan Edwards into the mix, and realize Michigan had some Alabama-level recruiting at RB over the last few years. (Haskins didn't have the stars, because of his speed, but he was a hellaciously good college RB.(
October 8th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
I think that he meant that UCLA delivered on the things they promised him. I don't necessarily think that was a shot at Michigan. IIRC he transferred to he closer to home in Cali.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:56 AM ^
I agree, I did not read that as a dig at Michigan. It was more, what drew you to UCLA and what do you like about it?
October 8th, 2022 at 2:48 PM ^
Yep...
UM Crootin' pitch: You're gonna be the man, we need you
Game day coaches: We're going to play Haskins and Corum first
Is that a lie, or someone getting outworked and outplayed for a position?
October 8th, 2022 at 3:33 PM ^
People make all sorts of irrational promises when courting...er 'cruiting.

Isn't it ironic? Don't'cha think?
October 8th, 2022 at 11:52 AM ^
If Haskins and Corum were better than you, just say that.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
or that you just wanted to be closer to home.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:52 AM ^
I was a fan of Zach and was hoping he could learn to be a teammate with Haskins for the greater good of the team.
Turns out would rather get all the attention of all 5k fans at the Rose Bowl than be a team player on a Playoff team.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
It does snow in Ann Arbor.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
Someone must have told him it's really nice in Michigan in November.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
Well, if he can’t handle snow he should have transferred to OSU.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
I watched the same thing and didn't feel like he was talking about Michigan. Instead, he spoke about why he chose UCLA over all the other schools when he transfered. Which was what Reggie Bush asked him. However, I understand how people may have taken it the other way, and because he didn't specifically name a team or teams, nobody really knows what he meant.
October 8th, 2022 at 11:59 AM ^
If our staff told him that he'd be playing in front of only 10,000-15,000 people at his home games, then I can see why he's salty.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
That stood out to me when I heard it. Wow such anger buried within.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
Sorry, no way UCLA has a better culture than Michigan. We had Hutch, Cade, and Haskins last year, Corum and JJ this year, just to name a few. All A+ leaders.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
I don't know if it was a shot at us . . . and don't care. I like Hassan Haskins, Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards just fine.

You and FranzWagner are never anything but ridiculously negative. Find some happiness.
October 8th, 2022 at 12:03 PM ^
HA!!! Who actually likes having lies told to them. Of course, he mentions no names. I'm sure the UCLA coaches told no lies.
