Almost as big as Rutgers is!
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:32 PM ^
Florida State is getting spanked by rival Jacksonville State. That program is a mess.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:39 PM ^
So Jax State isn't looking ahead to next week's game with Mercer???
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:46 PM ^
Something tells me FSU’s coach will get more time than it’s previous one. Can’t imagine why.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:03 PM ^
Lmao. Don’t even. Taggart had no real plan and was in way over his head. He went two classes in a row without signing a qb and put out abysmal offensive lines. The man went to Brady Hoke coaching academy and was the valedictorian.
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:27 PM ^
more beans mr. taggart?

October 3rd, 2020 at 5:48 PM ^
and so my mother said I can watch OAN!
October 3rd, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
That is like being king of the dip-shits.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:45 PM ^
Bring Mack Brown back !!
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:50 PM ^
Maybe Nebraska could beat them now.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
It's not the talent.
Texas recruiting has been very good under Herman, save for one year (2017).
2016: 7th
2017: 25th
2018: 3rd
2019: 3rd
2020: 8th
He needs more time IMO.
But yeah, Longhorn fans are finding out that he's probably more Iowa State than Ohio State.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:04 PM ^
How has no one replied “Ok cool. Hook em!” yet? For shame, MGoBlogteriat.
October 4th, 2020 at 7:31 AM ^
You win the weekend.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
A 1 loss big 12 team is still in and Okie state is still undefeated so too early to tell. The SEC got Florida Georgia Alabama and possibly Auburn as potential playoff teams. Big 10 has Ohio State obviously and possibly Michigan and Penn state. Oregon for the pac12 is the only contender. ACC got Clemson and possibly Miami and ND.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
Texas should of lost last week also!
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
While I still believe this was an upset, TCU is a better team than they'd looked, they were missing some key players in their first game.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:57 PM ^
Year 6 at Michigan and 4-4 is a reasonable prediction. Maybe 5-3.. Most likely 3rd in the B1G East...again. Stop it with 'possibly Michigan' in a playoff prediction..
Playoff guess is Clemson..Alabama..Ohio State.. Winner of Florida/Georgia. Pretty similar to most years. Big12 and Pac12 both left out this time
October 3rd, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
If we are being honest, we can say the same thing about Harbaugh.
October 3rd, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
Um, NO. He's now 26-16 at Texas. Harbaugh is 47-18.
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:15 PM ^
Yeah...you’re right about record, but he’s got one thing Harbaugh does not have: A win over their mortal enemies.
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
He’s also got a lot of head scratching upset losses that Harbaugh doesn’t have either
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:00 PM ^
That conference can’t even say defense
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:18 PM ^
Sure. Defense, stand by.
October 3rd, 2020 at 8:50 PM ^
Either can Don Brown against THEEEEEE ohio, Wisconsin or Ped State on the road!!!
October 3rd, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
Valid point. It bothers me more that the offense didn't come close to getting their job done any of those games.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:08 PM ^
So to your point, both sides of the ball do not play well against decent competition on the road. Sad what this program we have become, and as fans we keep using the excuses of other schools cheating, bagmen, payments, etc. Kids liking and getting $$$ is not a new phenomenon or discovery by any stretch of the imagination, but we like to attribute our lack of success to that.
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:09 PM ^
This site’s authors were wrong about Herman but right about Mullen.
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:16 PM ^
Dan Mullen got Mississippi St. to be ranked #1 in the inaugural playoff rankings; nobody who paid attention should be surprised he's doing well at Florida (even if I think their success this year has benefitted by playing two of the worst defenses in the SEC).
October 3rd, 2020 at 8:02 PM ^
It wasn't too long ago that there were more than a couple MGoBloggers who wanted Herman as HC here.
October 3rd, 2020 at 8:38 PM ^
Remember that when someone says "Texas is back", we are not given clarifying information on what they are back from or what they are back to doing. It might very well be the case that Texas simply stepped away to use the restroom for a moment and that they are back on the sideline, no promise of improvement in play implied.
October 3rd, 2020 at 9:09 PM ^
Honestly why didn't they get this guy instead of stupid Day
October 3rd, 2020 at 9:37 PM ^
Because we aren't allowed to have nice things, that's why. You should know by now that if it's good for Michigan, it WON'T happen to OSU.
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:33 PM ^
I have a hard time believing if Herman had inherited the machine that OSU is instead of Day, that the results would be any different.
Herman had/has to turn Texas around and build on his own. All Day had to do was continue what Meyer had already built for him.
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:13 PM ^
Funny thing is Texas will probably play really well the rest of the year and Texas fans will talk themselves into believing Herman has finally turned it around.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:25 PM ^
Should’ve lost to Texas Tech. Herman is not getting it done in Austin.
October 4th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Not sure that he wants to do it again, but if one Urban Meyer desires it he could literally name his price to coach the Longhorns.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:51 PM ^
Herman's struggles are a bit surprising as recruiting has been very good. The one thing people forget is that in his 2nd year at Houston they upset Oklahoma to start the year and in the middle really played poorly for about 5 games--lost to Navy and SMU, won a few close ones against the Tulanes of the world. And then the torqued Louisville and Lamar Jackson on a Thursday night game and he was back to being "the man." A few weeks later he was at Texas.
His entire head coaching career, outside of his 1st year at Houston, is literally about his teams playing to its level. He has some very good wins, at both Texas and Houston. He also has some inexplicable losses--the two to Maryland really stick out. From a macro view, I think this reflects a lack of ability to get his teams consistently prepared week in and week out regardless of opponent.
Blame the assistants all you want, but he hired them.
October 4th, 2020 at 12:11 AM ^
He seems like a coach who can gameplan as an underdog but doesn't seem able to keep his teams focused against the more mediocre teams on the schedule. It is really hard to keep guys focused, obviously, but that's always why there are a lot more assistant coaches that head ones out there and why so many can burn out. Herman seems like he's a really solid recruiter and offensive mind but his teams have fallen too many times for it to just be bad luck anymore.
October 4th, 2020 at 12:03 AM ^
So much for OU being one of the playoff teams. This will hurt their recruiting.
October 4th, 2020 at 6:00 AM ^
Just like Harbaugh hasn't pulled it together...
October 4th, 2020 at 8:41 AM ^
Just goes to show there are no sure-fire coaching hires.
October 4th, 2020 at 9:24 PM ^
Sounds like something we are painfully aware of.
October 5th, 2020 at 5:21 AM ^
Texas is probably, at least theoretically, in the playoff discussion IF they run the table from here on out. My guess is that, either way, they will NOT be invited.
Here's a crazy scenario. How about someone like Baylor remaining undefeated? Can you imagine them getting the #4 seeds only to lose by 50 to Bama? LOL.
