Wisconsin SBNation site Bucky's 5th Quarter posted the team's injury report for the Michigan game.

The following are startes for Wisconsin:

  • DE Isaiahh Loudermilk is listed as questionable after leaving Saturday's game with an injury and not returning.
  • S D'Cota Dixon is not listed after also leaving the game against Nebraska and not returning.
  • LB Andrew Van Ginkel is listed as questionable, although he played last week after also being listed as questionable.
  • CB Faion Hicks is not listed after playing vs Nebraska when he was questionable.
  • Other starting CB Caesar Williams is listed as questionable, along with his backup/co-starter Derron Harrell. Williams didn't play last week and Harrell had an upper body injury that looked like it may have been to the head.
  • TE Zander Neuville was one of their starting TEs, known as a blocker. He went out for the year with an injury before Nebraska.
  • DE Garrett Rand has missed all year and is out for the year. He would have been a starter but got hurt over the summer.

Wisconsin will release another report on Thursday so that one will be more useful for Saturday.

They look average against the run too. Rushing rank, team, total yards, ypc, season average ypc

(116)  BYU 191 yds 6.8 ypc (3.7)

(87) Iowa 148 yds 4.8 ypc (3.6)

(58) Nebraska 111 yds 4.6 ypc (4.7)

Compared to the common opponent Nebraska, Michigan gave up:

39 yds 1.3 ypc

Michigan should be able to run against this defense

No wonder UW's defense is not meeting expectations this year.  That is a lot of starters out.   Nebraska gained 518 total yards (7.6 per play), 407 of which came from passing.  Clearly they have minimal pass rush and into the backup DBs for coverage.  Could be a big night for Shea and team.

Throw the ball downfield on these guys. They have like 5 sacks all year someone mentioned? Give Shea ample time to throw and let Collins, DPJ and Gentry eat.

Echo the comments encouraging an aggressive passing attack.

Especially with our DL injuries, Wisconsin is going to have a chance to move the ball and wear us down. It is important to get ahead of them and stay there. If this game is tight going into the fourth quarter, any Wisconsin possession from 10 minutes to go on could turn into a game-winning grind drive if our DL doesn't have the guys.

If it's a 17-point Michigan lead in the fourth quarter, Wisconsin has no answer. Score early and often.

Very few teams have an answer for a 17-point deficit in the 4th quarter.  Very few good teams are down 17 at that point, so if we're winning by that much, it will be because Michigan is awesome and played their best game.  Not because we decided to pass the ball.

The defense is the star of this team.  On offense we want to possess the ball, score when opportunities (field position, turnovers, a sustained drive) arise, and give the other team fewer chances to hit the 50/50 ball on our man coverage.

Saquon had 15 carries for 108 yards, which included a 69 yarder on the second play of the game out of  the wildcat. His next two carries went for 5 and 15 yards. Obviously that counts just as much, because he ran for it, but after that he had 12 carries for 19 yards. I'm not sure I would consider that gashed, if anything Trace McSorely gashed us. And Hornibrook isn't as good as McSorely in the "Oh shit what the fuck do I do now" department. That being said, what really makes me nervous is Garrett Groshek. He's their third down back, and is a very adept pass catcher and blocker. Definitely someone to be accounted for, and Groshek was a record setting QB in High School and could definitely add a wrinkle in that regard.

Gary and Kemp will likely play some. When I saw Evans pull up on that run I was sure it was a hamstring-no reason to believe otherwise...may be gone for the year...doesn't matter if he is out there trotting around in warm-ups...until you see him running very hard and extending fully that large muscle is not ready to go. Solomon will not play for a while and neither will Black-their injuries may be pedestrian to folks who sit at a desk for a living...but not for playing big-time college football. Dwumfour may be good to go...just a scare...it happens...???

There you go...my best guess from the couch-literally...though I do think my guess is sound :)

The offense is going to need to do some work. That running game is going to eat up some long drives with our DL issues. Mone is going to have to have a huge game and even still there will be some holes up the middle.

There is a zero percent chance Solomon is ready to go in a meaningful way Saturday. Big guys that can’t condition due to leg injuries don’t just come back full speed after 6 weeks like nothing happened.

A best case scenario for Dwumfour is seemingly a sprained ankle which would easily take him out this week. It’s better to be realistic about injuries and recovery, just like Evans was clearly a hamstring no matter what the coaches claimed about week to week.
