Wiltfong Crystal Balls Roman Wilson to UM
247 Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong just Crystal Balled 4 * WR Roman Wilson to Michigan. Isn't a guarantee but usually a good sign when he Balls a player. O, and sorry for bad format, posting from my phone.
Uncle Roman’ll blow some coin on a kick ass speed boat.
Care to put it to a vote, Chester?
I think he said "Faster"
Yeah mofo!!!
Lorenz also balled Kris Jenkins and Brenden Rice to Michigan today.
Seems like we have something exciting to look forward to for tomorrow.
Edit: It might be related to Roman Wilson considering 3 more crystal balls for Michigan have come in after Wiltfong
Tomorrow is today!!! I'm waaaaiiitting...
And in not good news... Theo Johnson lost his only Michigan crystal ball today.
Golly Geez what a great addition to our Roman post. Speed in Space can’t have em all. Tell Debbie we said,”hi!”
Believe that was Sam Webb flipping his to cloudy. Doesn't mean it's over there with Theo Johnson but it seems like no one's quite sure where he's going. The PSU ballz were from a while ago and there's only 4 total, so this isn't one where I'd say crystal balls will tell you much for right now. Most likely is he had some early momentum to PSU and since then we've risen but no one knows enough to move them from PSU to something else yet.
Now up to 4 balls for Michigan
Article behind paywall. Any other information to share?
Hopefully he keeps his 4th star. I'm told we cant play the season with this many 3-stars.
Dude has a 4.37 40??? Who do I have to kill to make this happen?
Hookers, lots of hookers, Craig.
i mean, is 6 a lot?
His shuttle and vertical, I believe, are near elite levels as well. All verified at an Opening Regional, which are thought to be the most accurate. How did he not receive an invite to the Opening Finals?
Hmmm... This is a good question. He seems to check all the athletic boxes. Maybe he didn't catch any passes? That would suck! I mean, if you can't catch, speed doesn't do anything.
Nonetheless, I suspect he was such an outlier from a tiny school with no competition (HA) at the Regional that nobody thought much of him. He probably never had a fair shot at an invitation.
Nah, St. Louis in Honolulu is a powerhouse. Produced Marcus Mariota and Tua, among many others.
but but but scouting is flawless and stars always matter....
There is some video available on 247 from that regional. He drops one ball, and on go routes once he had beaten the defender he slowed down to catch the ball - need to keep the wheels turning.
He absolutely wrecks a defender on one comeback though, great in and out of his break, and he runs right by the guys on those go routes. Speed looks legit.
Well he'll have some great coaches here to help him with that stuff. Sounds like a great prospect.
Faster than DPJ in the 40 and shuttle. His vertical is only 3 inches lower as well.
This kid will be deadly if they use him for the McDoom gadget plays and manage to get everyone to block them correcty.
Please, no McDoom style gadget plays!!! They are telegraphed from a mile away!! I've always disliked those pre-packaged plays for any particular player. I came to dread both the McDoom jet sweep and the Pepcat - despite the fun they promised...
Those plays would work fine if the offense installed ANY counter to keep the defense honest.
Those, though admittedly better versions of them, gadget plays absolutely killed us when we played PSU a couple years back. Gashed left and right.
Ours sucked, more often than not, because they (1) weren't creative at all, and (2) were frequently set up for huge gains that were wasted due to a single miffed block.
He is a super smooth athlete and runs great routes. He reminds me of Mario Manningham.
Reminds me of Devin Smith of Ohio State
I don't know how many fakes to give his times, but he looks really fast on tape so maybe not that far off. I think if he were 6-2 instead of 6-0 he'd be a top 20 recruit, which is interesting since he is still allegedly growing.
His 40 time is laser timed at an opening so zero fakes out of five.
At 6’ feels like he could potentially play outside? Personally I think the difference between an outside guy and a slot is negligible when it really comes down to it. More about how you play the ball in the air then it is about height/speed. If a slot can do that well enough I think they can play both. Think it’s harder for an outside guy to move inside than the other way around unless the slot is REALLY small.
Rice definitely seems like he’ll play outside.
This. Difference between outside and slot are real but pretty small. You don't want a receiving corps stacked with nothing but 5'9" slot bugs, but you don't really need the prototypical big outside guy if you have some receivers who can high point the ball and beat press coverage.
