Will Harbaugh sign an extension?

Submitted by TheInfamousChe… on November 26th, 2023 at 8:59 PM

I know some of us have been doubting the insiders recently based on inaccurate or vague info presented by them, but did anyone notice during Sam Webb's rant after the game Saturday he seemed pretty sure that harbaugh was going to sign an extension. It's at the 9:02 mark in the linked video.

I feel like there is a lot of confidence in that statement and it has me excited.

I was watching Gerdeman and Tom Orr's eulogy on the same field as Sam and you could hear his rant to the point they repeatedly acted annoyed and looked his way. Which made it even funnier. During Day's presser post game you could here "It's great...to be..a Michigan Wolverine" coming through the wall...Ha...Ha..Haa!

Having watched Sam's rant before the two Bucknuts made it even funnier.

Well Jim knows he is loved and supported but his FaceTime interview/Q&A I just saw he again brought up "how can you not pay the players" while lamenting Zak's injury. That should be the wind beneath the wings for further NCAA/Bigten isolation/ostrasization and Warde consternation.

That gives me pause on the further suspension for breathing front. Which may lead to a chasm.

You do know that Warde Manuel is a former Michigan football player... I would not automatically assume that he vehemently disagrees with Harbaugh with regard to athlete compensation.

Structuring that, however, will not be easy. Do you treat scholarship athletes differently than non-scholarship athletes? Do athletes in cash cows like football get compensation that differs from that of a swimmer or volleyball player?

As for Coach staying or leaving, he and his wife are probably the only ones who know what he wants to do and maybe he's not even 100% sure. He grew up in Ann Arbor and grew up around Michigan football where he later starred at quarterback. He's now the head coach at Michigan which may just be his dream job and he may be reluctant to uproot his young kids.

On the other hand, the challenge of winning a Super Bowl may still be a draw.

Should he decide to leave now or in the near future, he can do so knowing that he left the program in a far better place than when he arrived, and there are people on staff who are capable of succeeding him.

Man, a Harbaugh extension now would really turn the knife to all these fools who either hired the PI or claimed player safety or just jumped on the bandwagon when it became cool. They still beat Penn State, they still beat Cyan Day, they still won the conference, they still made the CFP, and they still have Jim.

To me the prize for these clowns is still out there, and that's Jim leaving. This shit was known for a while about sign-gate, the timing with when Jim was expected to get a new deal is not coincidental. Even if it's to follow his NFL dream with a great opportunity, you can't convince me all this bs didn't help move him towards that fate.

Harbaugh will sign an extension here if his love of this job (university+AD backing, players, alma mater, college context generally) outweighs *both* the crap that dealing with the NCAA and now B1G delivers, and his dream of a Super Bowl win.

I think the only one who knows how those things balance is Harbaugh, and he's not telling.

Weird to say but does a NCG win actually increase his value to Michigan as it relates to the new deal? I don't know that it does, I think he's at a peak that can only be surpassed by other coaching salary insanity (ie who gets the Mel Tucker + $30m deal). He's in blank check territory + buyout of $1 for what has already been accomplished.

I honestly feel like Harbaugh's focus on this being "The Team" makes me feel like he's putting all his eggs in this basket of Team 144 and is leaving after this. I hope I'm wrong, but every time he alludes to that, it gives me this sinking feeling that he's done here after this season.

Let me start by saying I hope Harbaugh is back. But if his heart is in the NFL he needs to make it known to the AD so they can start talking to Moore now. In that case let JH coach through the National Champioship with SM as the interim.
