Why hasnt Wagner declared for NBA yet?

Beginning of this season, I had Wagner as 99% likely to head to the NBA after the 2021 NCAA season.  Now I have him at 95% likely to leave.  Why the slightly increased chance he sticks around considering he's projected to be an NBA lottery pick?  Two reasons pop into my mind:

1. Wagner's final game at UM, vs UCLA, was likely the worst game he has ever played at UM.  It may be eating at his ego.  Perhaps he would prefer to have a more successful final game at UM.

2. His family certainly doesn't need the money.  His older brother has made millions in the NBA.  He is close with his older brother.  Franz lived in Moe's home for months during the covid scare.

Like I said, 95% chance he leaves for the NBA in a few weeks, but I think the chances have slightly improved he sticks around. I have strong suspicion that ugly UCLA game is percolating in the back of his mind.

Anyone who has the league telling them they are going to go in the 1st round should go.  ANYONE.  The ONLY exception is if you are a projected at the back of the first round and think with one more year you can make yourself a lottery pick.

I would of course be thrilled if he stays.  But he is going to go and get his $$$ like he should.

Perfect setup right here for an announcement tomorrow...

He should leave. I would if I was him. I don’t think he can realistically do much more to improve his stock. I’d like to say wow he stuffs the stat sheet, maybe next year he can take over offensively and put up 18 a game to go with that and his great defense. I think it’s more likely that’s just not the kind of player he is or we would have seen something close to that this year. He has a very solid first round grade. Now is the time to go.

Although I think he may be a top 20 pick, I definitely think he should stay. He needs to improve his outside shot, leadership, and consistency. His release point on his 3 seems low and I don't think he can go left. People underestimate what a year as the main man and a possible championship run can do for his development long term.

It's not about the 1st contract, its about getting a second one and I don't think he's ready to compete against the best wings in the world yet. He can of course improve next year if he goes, but it's not like NBA teams actually have a lot of practice time during the season. Also, it can be tough to keep your confidence up when you're trying to guard the Harden's of the world - and some of the passive play in big games was concerning.

just tired of our guys leaving too early and not having their careers pan out burke, mcgary, wagner 1, morris, iggy, wilson - (although he had 25 tonight)

Franz is staying because I made an offer he could not refuse.  I know the weakness of Germans.  I offered access to my currant bushes in exchanging for playing for another year.  I don't just have red currants, pink currants, black currants, champagne currants, and white currants.  But I also have polka dotted currants, plaid currants, and even chameleon currants.  :)
