Who should be SM hires for the coordinator jobs?

Submitted by blueandmaizeballs on January 25th, 2024 at 1:40 PM

Since Moore is the HC who should be his hires for the open positions?   From what is being said Newsome is going to be the OL Coach and others probably stay where they are except for some responsibilities becoming different.   Anyone have ideas about who is a good OC and DC?   Heard the Ravens LB coach is another guy in the MM and JM realm.

I might get negged for this because people still don't think Moore should be the HC but he is so let's talk about some good hires from him to bring along.

R u fin serious bro?   I can't help you are confused.  Are you alright in the head?    I didn't comment on you because I was being nice and didn't want to insult you intelligence.  But you come back with some childish comment and look who upvotes and downvotes.   I have no idea and could care less.

Tha point is the people who are in SH and those who know people inside there already know he is the HC.   I don't need an official announcement know who the head coach is.

Sorry you need an official announcement to understand that.

I mean if those words help you understand it better.  But still doesn't change the fact as of last night he already was doing Head Coaching roles including vetting and looking for coordinators.

No worries 2008 I just thought from what I heard and what others in the media are saying everyone should know Moore is the HC right now but it can't be officially announced yet.

Zinters tweet last night pretty much says how the players feel about him and he was expected by the players to be named HC if Jim left.  So when Jim officially left Zak sent out his tweet.

I like the idea of using 2 RB sets, but I would much prefer our diverse array of run plays and blocking schemes with more QB runs. I think we should use Alex Orji like Tim Tebow and play with the jumbo sets a whole bunch.

J.J. couldn't do that because he was too slight. Orji is a tank and we can use him like Tebow. I would say Lamar Jackson, but I don't know how fast Orji really is. If he's fast we should just run the Raven's offense with more QB runs/options.

IF Sherrone gets the job, I bet that Kirk Campbell gets the OC position.

DC I don’t know. Probably someone from the NFL I’d hope.

I have a surprising nomination for our TEs coach assuming Newsome gets promoted…Brian Ferentz.

No, seriously. Dude put a constant string of TEs and OL into the NFL. I honestly believe there’s no better *position* coach we could hire.

Just keep him far far away from the play sheets. Maybe don’t even give him a headset. In fact, let’s just send him to the movies every Saturday…

I thought Hart was sort of on the OC track, and has more tenure than campbell. why has his name dropped out of the coordinator conversation? there is a small part of me that suspects he isn't highly regarded by the admin. an effective run game coach, but maybe not personable enough to do the higher level roles? just speculation/suspicion based on nothing at all really.

It could be Hart or Campbell being Co coordinators but I also assume Hart is the associate Head Coach since Jim and most think he is on his way to being HC someday.   As long as we become an offense that is more diverse then before.  I wouldn't mind seeing some hurry up at times instead of slowly working the play clock down every play.  Making it dependent upon the game that is being played.  Get the WRs a little more involved also, which in turn could help with elite ones giving Michigan a shot.

I don't completely disagree, but part of the reason our D has been able to be so elite (aside from the coaching and players) has been the fact that they do not have to be back out on the field after 3 mins of rest every time. A more up tempo offense that either scores or gets off the field quickly comes at a cost to the defense.

So this better be a very calculated approach if they do it.

Personally, I like our current styles. Not everyone does it, and I'm a zig when others are zagging kinda guy.

This is a good point. We don't need to switch to the Air Raid offense, but gosh it would be nice if we were capable of scheming our WRs open every once in a while. The fact that literally no one has taken our WRs and passing game as a threat in the last three years is kinda sad. Obviously we still won without it, but could you just imagine the power of our offense if we had a competent passing game AND our dominant run game?

We dont do it a lot but when we do its effective. How many plays in the Rose Bowl were there? Against an elite defense as well. I think the priorities are "protect the ball, protect the defense" until the lead isnt ousr anymore then things change. We dared other teams to take the lead from us and they couldnt. It may be boring, lead to shitty WR recruiting, but hot damn is it effective.

assuming Minter goes with JH, I think Fitzgerald would be a great DC. He could be a huge help to SM, and I dont think he is in any hurry to be a HC anytime soon

whoever can maintain the current ravens D in terms of structure, installs, game planning process, etc.  doesnt even have to necessarily be a raven, as long as they know what theyre doing.  maybe its someone already in the building, maybe someone currently elsewhere in nfl.  while theyve had good players the past few years, the scheme and process is clearly a winner right now so continuity there would be huge

Bill Belichick as DC.

Andy Reid as OC.

Oh, you mean realistic candidates? Someone who can maintain the style/philosophies we currently have - DC seems more ideal to go outside, OC I think you can maintain things with an internal hire as Moore is gonna be heavily involved in the game planning anyway (Campbell or Hart likely). Just don't wanna see the shared play calling anymore, that did not work well.

Moore needs to keep his most valuable coaches here....if he does not promote hart and clink then they will likely be moving on and and that would absolutely gut this team.

Elston stays at DL with significant raise

Newsome OL

Get new coaches at:

WR

Safeties (bellamy?)

Special Teams

QB (cambpell to WR)

TE

LB

Clink is a definite stay with pay raise not sure if he is ready to be DC but he does know our system well but in the end I want to keep running out same Defense and make the offense a little more explosive or diverse as we have different types of teams now in the conference.  2023 defense is going to be hard to replicate year in and out so having an offense that can be capable in a shoot out would be great.

Here's my "okay hear me out" idea...

Two words... Mike. Shanahan.

Much has been made about the 2013 Washington coaching staff lately... a staff that at one time included:

Sean McVay
Kyle Shanahan
Matt LeFleur
Mike McDaniel
Bobby Slowick
Raheem Morris

Now we don't want him to coach anything. He's 700 years old, I'm pretty sure. (Actually he's only 71 years old which makes him younger than Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick) Anywho, roll ole Mike Shanahan's bones out here and say "Coach... pick the next all star lineup of coaches!"
