Who’s Pumped For Wednesday? And your prediction.

Submitted by Mineral King on December 30th, 2019 at 3:24 PM

I am!! I can’t wait to see the guys ball out against the Tide.

Slow day today on the board I see, so what’s your prediction. I say Michigan 34-27. I have a feeling Michigan is going to want it more. We are going to be loaded next year with all these underclassmen coming back hopefully. I wish we had an insider that could tell us some more details. I just can’t wait to watch these guys play again. Osu paid all that money and they’re home sitting on their asses. So have fun watching Michigan play, you pricks. Go Blue!!

48-29

We score a few times a half but can't stop them.  "True fans" cry have faith and claim us realists aren't true fans but yea.  If you think anything different will occur, I'd gladly be wrong, but also have a bridge to try to unload on ya's.

So am I pumped?! Yea it's Michigan football...but if and when things get dire and it isn't fun playing against the semi-pro team I'm looking for other things to do during the day off.

It's close for 1 1/2 quarters. UM never leads. Alabama suffocates all life away.

Bama - 49

UM - 27

Michigan gains nothing from the game. UM will take it on the chin in yet another national embarrassment. I would have much rather they hid out in the Holiday Bowl.

I'm delusionaly optimistic when it comes to Michigan football.  I don't care if I'm brutally and definitively proven wrong.  Tua being out and the Bama players not giving a shit because they're missing the playoffs are key.  31-17 Michigan.

I'm seeing a game where Alabama begins imposing its will in the second half, turning a relatively close one into a 45-20 Bama blowout. But outside of OSU they would probably do that to any B1G team.

Whatever happens, I will still love Michigan and I will be excited for what should be a really good 2020 season.

The news of Dwumfour not playing is fairly important - Bama and their staff are not stupid - they will chew us up on the inside and as long as they don’t make costly mistakes - my feeling is they will take over the game by 3rd Q. It will be similar game-plan to Wisconsin. I’m hoping Mac makes mistakes to keep us in it but I worry it won’t be enough.

Saban will run the score up against a Harbaugh. There offensive line will crush our smallish D-line. They will run all over us. Hopefully I’m wrong but that’s how I see it.

I'm  not pumped at all. How in the world we ended up facing off with the 4th or 5th best team (and talent wise not beaten by anyone) in the country in the Citrus Bowl I do not understand.

Michigan really got screwed over by having to face Bama in the Citrus.

Iowa got to play a bleh 8-4 USC squad coached by the incompetent Clay Helton (how is that guy still employed at USC?) while Penn State got a layup win against a paper tiger in Memphis from a crap conference.

I really feel sorry for Michigan fans as this kind of crap seems to happen to UM frequently.

56-10 Bama

Also: how did Bama fall that far in the rankings? How did Michigan end up in this game? There is something larger happening here. This has Jim Delaney’s finger prints all over it. This was a complete and total screw job by the Big Ten.

Exactly. There's no fucking way we should have been matched up against Bama. This was clearly intentional by the higher powers who love to see Michigan fail miserably on national tv whilst lining their own pockets via the ratings for this game.

I'll keep it positive. I hope for the best. I hope we play well and continue the evolution of the offense.

That said, I won't be watching until I check the score a couple times to see how it's going.

Bottom line is that I have a really hard time seeing Michigan win this game. Alabama is still, top to bottom, the most talented roster in America. Or if not, the second-most. If Michigan's offense clicks on Wednesday, I could see a respectable shootout loss. This is not your older brother's Alabama defense, and there are plays to be made against those guys.

But I just see an unmitigated disaster waiting for Michigan's defense. I don't think ANYONE from Alabama's offense is sitting out, and with that mind, I think they're coming in with something to prove. If a bunch of guys were sitting out, I'd say maybe we could catch them napping. Alabama's offensive line is going to run our DL the fuck over. That is a line full of guys who will be playing on Sundays. And then as good as Hill and Thomas are, they're going up against first round pick receivers. One of whom is projected top-5 overall. The secondary got abused against OSU. Wednesday could be even worse.

If the offense shows up to play and Gattis drafts up a great gameplan, I'll say somewhere in the neighborhood of 48-39. Not close enough to where Michigan ever truly threatens to win, but enough to make for an entertaining game that forces Alabama to respect Michigan's abilities.

If the offense shows up disjointed, makes stupid mistakes, commits turnovers, this will turn into a bloodbath. Like a 55-18 kind of game that is over by halftime.

So I'll aim for somewhere in the middle. 51-28. Alabama shows up pissed off, and I'm guessing Saban will try and twist the knife into Harbaugh at least once as some sort of "retribution" for the satellite camps. Shea and Co. make a few plays here and there, but they're largely shut down in the second half and Don Brown has absolutely no answer for anything Alabama wants to do on offense.

Winovich, Bush, Gary, Hurst, Glasgow, Mone, Peppers. None of them are walking through that door between now and gametime.

Not really pumped because it's essentially the worst match up we could get.  Bama is clearly one of the top 4 teams in the country and our weakness (DL) is something they are built to exploit, just like Wisconsin and OSU ran it down our throats this year.

I would have been much happier playing Oklahoma or Oregon or really any other top 5-10 team.  Bama was clearly better than Auburn, but weird lucky Auburn shit always happens in that game at Jordan Hare - Bama should have won that game by 2 TDs and been in the playoff instead of Oklahoma.

Bama is LSU, OSU, Clemson good, even with an injured Tua, and even with some skill position players potentially sitting out for the NFL draft.  They don't need to do anything complicated simply because their O and D lines are better than ours, and this year in particular, it's really just a horrible matchup.

Bama is really good, and a terrible matchup for Michigan but they aren't in that top tier without Tua.

They were handled pretty easily by LSU even with Tua at home.  Their defense isn't elite this year.  They're on the UGA second tier this year with talent galore and one elite side of the ball, but one side of the ball that is just merely good.

Not happy about this match up at all and think they will pave us. I would have preferred a team NOT in the top 4 in the country but it seems the powers that be love to kick us when we are down ... and they've had plenty of opportunity over the last 20 years.

OSU pays, cheats, and does no skool to win national titles, not B1G championships. They continue to underachieve in reaching that very goal for which they have foregone any semblance of institutional and academic integrity.

B1G championships for OSU are like SEC championships for Bama - For schools that have gone full on football factory that expect to make the CFB playoff every year, anything but a national title feels like a disappointment (even if in the student-athlete world of NCAA sports) for universities like Michigan, Stanford, Wisconsin - such achievements are celebrated.

OSU has had 20 years of uninterrupted (minus 1 Luke Fickell year) football success, going from great to absolutely elite when Meyer looked at Tressel's cheating ways, and said, hold my SEC beer.  They have had a top 3 talented team nearly every year the past decade, and a top 5 talented team every year the decade prior. Yet they have a grand total of 1 BCS championship and 1 CFB playoff championship.  Bama has 5 over the past 15 years.

The winner of Clemson - LSU will have more national titles than OSU over the past 20 years, and UF, Miami and USC (all teams that had runs of just 3-5 years of excellence) all have 2 national titles over the same time period.

For all of OSU's success and talent, they continue to fall short of their goal by choking away a game in the B1G or blowing it on the national stage of BCS and playoff games.

They are the just like the NY Yankees this century.

I agree. Tired of hearing about good ole Don. There are lots of people on this board who are either smoking crack or just mentally ill with delusion. Facts are facts and Alabama is much better coached and better across the board in every way. Harbaugh is disliked by 90% of coaches so Saban is watering at the mouth right now for this impending ass kicking!

Do you think another D coordinator would do better when their OL >>>>>>> our DL?

A nearly impossible task for any DC to overcome that mismatch.

Unless your argument is that Don Brown is to blame for a lack of good DTs on the roster (which like, ok maybe), you have no argument.   His age and annual dalliances with east coast HC jobs might be a reason we can't get/keep good DTs lately, but he's as good with X's and O's as there is out there.

How many times does Michigan have to give 30+ 40+50+ games for you to want Brown gone? If u are fine with 9 wins and getting stomped by osu and in bowls games every year then keep defending him. And yes bad lineman recruiting falls in his lap too. By all means keep pounding on the table for a coach that as often as he strangles bad offenses, gets bitch smacked by good ones.

Guess I just want more.

LSU and Alabama would beat teams convincingly. All teams.....except when they play each other. 46 -41. Hell of a championship game.
