Which Chicago Michigan Bar?
I'll be in far north shore chicago (Riverwoods) with my parents for The Weeknd. My wife and I want to goto a Michigan Bar and watch The Game. The Alumni web page lists these 5 bars:
- Celtic Crown (football and basketball), 4301 N. Western Ave. (map), 773-588-1110
- Diag Bar & Grill (football and basketball), 2856 N. Southport Ave. (map), 773-404-8400
- Fifty/50 (football and basketball), 2047 W. Division St. (map), 773-489-5050
- Rockit Bar & Grill (football and basketball), 22 W. Hubbard (map), 312-645-6000
- WestEnd (football), 1326 W. Madison (map), 312-981-7100
Which is the best? Any stereotypes/reputations for any of these?

I went to visit friends in Chicago in 2014 and we went to Rockit for a game. It was nice. Much more high brow sports bar than like a Hopcat or Bdubs but nice environment. Real close to Wrigley too so it's cool to walk around as well

There were multiple Rockits. This one is in River North, towards the Loop. The Rockit up by Wrigley is now closed.

WestEnd is trash
Diag.

Rockit isnt close to Wrigley though, unless theres a second one

Very possible that I am way off. It was one of the few times I was in Chicago and everything was either downtown closing to the bean or north near Wrigley (I do believe it is further north of downtown though)
EDIT: Nope! Not near Wrigley at all! I am awful at geography.

Its all good, I had a vague recollection that there used to be one in Wrigley!

Only if you’re under age of 25

I once saw a girl get carried out of there horizontally by 2 bouncers. On the way out the front door she was trying to grab everyone’s drink out of their hands so that she could continue drinking. Never saw anything like that anywhere else.

Celtic Crown- Never been but by stereotyping the neighborhood, would be a chill place to watch the bar.
Diag- Probably the most fun and involved, but must get there early
Fifty/50-New this year and haven't been but probably fun and closeish to the highway
Rockit- Downtown/River North- Most expensive option and probably one of the younger crowds
WestEnd- Relatively Chill as long as there isn't a Hawks game at the same time, but does have weird seating. Fortunately, the Hawks aren't as good as a few years ago.
Duffy's- Drunkest option and perfect if you're 22 (not a knock, I enjoyed it at 22)
Dickens Street Public House- Went once and had only the Michigan game and we were the only people there which was actually quite nice if you're not looking for something rowdy

Replying here because this is a good overview. If I go to one for a game it's usually Diag or West End.
I'd add that all of the bars have decent-to-good food and also:
Diag is a really good time but it has two tiny bathrooms so you'll watch a good chunk of the game in line for the men's room if you're drinking a ton of beer.
Fifty/50 is in the middle of a bunch of other good bars and will probably be packed.
Rockit: Go if you want to be downtown, otherwise the others are probably better options unless you're just really into elaborate bloody mary options.

I had a lot of fun in the Diag.

Rock It...for sure! Went there in October and the atmosphere was awesome!

Diag is the best experience period.

Riverwoods is a suburb and these are all in the city. Look in the burbs
November 22nd, 2018 at 7:40 AM ^
No official alumni club bars in the burbs. In my younger days, I would drive from the northwest suburbs to Joe's on Weed (dating myself here) to watch games with other Michigan fans.

Been to Rockit on Hubbard. The whole upstairs bar is U of M Alumni and fans. A little pricey, but good quality food/drinks and fun.

Will the bars mentioned as likely to be "packed" and/or "fill up early" be that way this weekend? I'm new here, so I don't know if the town clears out on holiday weekends.

If its nice enough to be outside - The Diag
if not West End on Madison
