Where is Tim Biakabutuka?
Celebrating the big win with my 13 year old son tonight!
I was a little nostalgic and shared the great, good and ugly highlights via YouTube. We finished with Biakabutuka and it made me wonder why he isn’t he associated with Michigan?! His performance is legendary!!
I don't think he left North Carolina after he hung up the cleats. He owns a few Bojangles chicken joints down there.
Maybe Jim could share the game and Tim could bring some Bojangles before the game?!
^ Can confirm. Though his Bojangles are in SC.
Double correction, his four Bojangles are actually in Augusta, GA. He still lives in Matthews, NC I believe. Suburb of Charlotte and notably the hometown of Channing Stribling.
Triple correction. They're in the SC towns of the Augusta area. Augusta (like Charlotte) has 'burbs that spill across the state line into SC.
Bojangles is the only thing I miss about the Carolinas.
I miss Duke and North Carolina basketball being relevant. Not really.
I had Bojangles once.
Once was enough.
Same. Was on a work trip in Birmingham and even my colleagues from there said not to get it. I had to try though just to say I've had it, and yeah, once.
Agree... Virginia has all three options - KFC, Popeyes, and Bojangles. Bojangles is a clear #3.
Yoooo Raising Cane's and Zaxby's are THE chicken places
I don't get the Raising Cane's love... people are lined up a mile down the road (and fucking up traffic) every Sunday night for this place by me.
So I took the plunge once to see what the hype was about and got soggy tenders and fries that look and taste like they are Ore-Ida krinkle cut from the grocery store.
Reviews on Google confirm the same.
I've never seen either of those options in 31 years of living in Virginia. Googling said businesses tells me that they both have a location in Richmond - which is as close as they're going to get to me. I get to the northern outskirts of Richmond occasionally, but that's it.
So, having never seen - or heard - of them, I cannot rate them. Therefore, Bojangles remains at (a distant) #3.
Zaxby’s has to be my all time favorite. Granted, living in Michigan our chicken options aren’t the greatest. Found Zaxby’s while working a job in Alabama and I get Chick-Fil-A whenever I’d go to Cedar Pointe (haven’t made a trip now that they’re trickling into MI) but Zaxby’s takes the cake for me.
Bo-Rounds, hot out of the fryer........
I think I'm making a road trip.
Man, I miss everything about living in North Carolina. Lived right on the ocean. 4 short hours to the mountains. 9 months of warm weather. Bojangles, Carolina BBQ. Way better than living in the Mid-West.
+1 for the Carolina BBQ. Definitely the foodie item that I miss most from my few years living in NC. For the record, I was an Eastern NC BBQ fan.
My only nitpick from someone who hates lots of heat. I would say there are 6 months of nice, warm weather (extended spring and fall seasons were lovely), but 3 months of infernal hell during the summer. I lived in and near Raleigh, so 2-3 hours to the beach and mountains was nice to escape the heat. But, man, I hated summers there.
To each his own. I spent a lot of time in the RTP area in 2019, and I just didn’t care for it. Too hot for much of the year and I felt I wad taking my life into my own hands any time I walked anywhere.
Although to be fair I could see living someplace on the coast. I had a friend in Wilmington, and that was nice. Only visited in the fall, though.
There are a lot of things I love in South Carolina, not sure Bojangles is one of them. But yeah, we have the chickens here as in lots of chicken places and those stupid USC (not that USC) chickens. We got Popeye's, Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby's, KFC, Bojangles and local favorite Zestos.
IMO, what chicken is best depends on what I'm wanting. For regular chicken in a bucket I like Bojangles or KFC (although Publix is even better). For chicken fingers, Popeyes spicy is best. And for the chicken sandwich I'll take either Popeye's or Chick-Fil-A, I like them both. For salad, nothing beats Zaxby's and they have some good wings too, and when its deep fried pickle season oh boy I'm at Zaxby's as much as I can be.
All that said, I go through Augusta every once in awhile, now that I know Timmy owns some Bojangles there I will have to give him some business.
Slip this in before we start talking chicken... Tim is related by marriage to Coach Bellamy?
He's also Ron Bellamy's brother-in-law, according to our new safety coach. That was surprising to read the other week.
Imprisoned in his own home by Betty Davis?
she really does have betty davis eyes, doesn't she?
redrum!
Tim is probably watching his son Jeremie play in the QMJHL for Rimouski
Find out where Waldo is and maybe Tim is hanging out with him.
Rumor is they are both hanging out with Carmen San Diego - can you confirm?
Where in the world?????
I actually can't confirm Pete, sorry.
I'll keep an eye out though...
Kalamazoo
You Hope...
Why isn't he associated with Michigan? Every time football plays OSU his game is mentioned. Every time Michigan running back records are mentioned, his name is front and center. Every time single game legends are highlighted, his game comes shining through the other highlights. He's never mentioned among scandals, or lost games.
So he hasn't been back to Ann Arbor for a while (that we know of)? Maybe there's a reason for that other than that he's not associated with the program? I mean, Thom Darden hasn't been back in a while, either - is not associated with Michigan football?
We all wish Tim was more present in Ann Arbor, but because he isn't doesn't mean he isn't still associated with the team.
This is well put. People should not get "doesn't want to be in the spotlight" confused with "not associated with Michigan."
Tim is TRUE BLUE.
Touchdown Timmy is (presumably) just leading the quiet, peaceful life. For example, I've managed to stay out of the spotlight, too.

Good article on Touchdown Tim
What do you want from the man?
A lot of people don't dwell on their college days, even the great ones.
I will never forget Tim's 300+ yard upstaging of Heisman winner Eddie George. He can live however he wants.
