Where is Brian?

Submitted by Stimulus Progression on August 9th, 2021 at 12:09 PM

Hello Everyone,

I haven't been on the board much this summer, but the past few weeks I have noticed Brian's absence. My apologies for bringing up a topic that I'm sure has already been discussed ad nauseam, but where is he? Hopefully he is ok, and Michigan football hasn't broken him.

TIA.

Brian is everywhere.  And nowhere.  At the same time.

Brian is all-seeing, all-knowing and first team all-conference.  At the same time.

If you sit back and relax, you will feel Brian's presence.  Or not, if you are an unbeliever.

Seriously, though, Brian will return in Brian's time, on Brian's schedule and at Brian's pace.

I hope all is well with Brian and his family.

Non-snark answer for those who missed it previously but per Seth, Brian is dealing with something personal/family related, unrelated to the Blog, or Michigan coverage, taking a little time off and he plans to be back soon. Long term, he'll be back doing what he does best, ennui with a side of optimism.

The slides are pretty janky, and you're not going to get much projection out of them. That said, though, for something like alumni band, it might be kind of handy. They're super light, and the plastic mouthpiece isn't nearly as affected by temperature as a brass one, so depending on what the weather is like for the alumni band game (usually pretty late in the season), it might be a lot more comfortable. Also, you could get a blue one, get a block M stencil, and airbrush a maize M on there.

Edit: full disclosure, I was never in either the MMB or alumni band. Marching band was never my thing, and I was at UofM to do a masters in trombone performance, so marching band wouldn't have been much on my radar, so take my options on trombone gear for alumni band with an appropriate grain of salt.

Anyone who has ever played or ever makes any reference to a trombone is a total POS and can march right off my grass right NOW!

And while you are marching off my grass, copy, paste, and enjoy the following:

There's also a nice dedication to Brian by Seth in the beginning of HTTV.

"This book is dedicated to Brian Cook.
His writing is an inspiration, his passion to inform infectious,
his intent righteous, and we are all here because we find it a little bit incredulous
that we have him to write about this stupid thing we love.
And because he absolutely can’t stand to hear it."
