What is Your Consecutive Home Game Streak?

Submitted by Bryan on

This Saturday I will be missing my first Michigan home game since 2004, a streak of 50 games, to stand in a buddy's wedding in Miami. I've been wondering for a while who on the board has me beat. Anyone in the hundreds, two hundreds...?

PS

Still have a ticket available for Saturday, check the ticket Excel sheet.

Sounds like you need to get some new friends.. B-)

BTW, I have watched, from my home, every televised Michigan game for several years.   The problem is, I have a plane and it is only 3 hrs to Ann Arbor, but I rarely make the trip.

A few years ago, I went to a game and got tickets from one of my high school friends.  My wife and I sat down and about 2 minutes later, the older guy sitting next to me and asked if I was from (my hometown), Michigan?   I was surprised, but then he told me the 'story'.  The tickets were from my friends grandparents who had tickets next to this same older couple since the 60's..  I wonder how many 'consecutive' games they may have attended..

This happens, as people continue to get a ticket package year after year, they end up sitting near the same people. An old friend of the family (Michigan class of '48) had been holding season tickets his whole life, the last couple of years of his life my Dad was able to get in a couple games a year as the guy just couldn't make it anymore. The people around us always asked my Dad how "Tom" (not real name) was each game as they grew concerned since he wasn't making the games anymore.

I had been to every home game since 2003, I think it was, until last season when my stupid cousin had her wedding on the Illinois game. That was the only game I've missed during that time span.

My home streak is at 133. I've not missed a home game in 20 seasons. My first, as a freshman, was the 1991 ND game - Desmond's catch! What a way to start your in-person fandom!

That was my first game as well!  What a way to start off your first year at Michigan; that set the tone for my love of everything Michigan today.  I would also have been at 133, if not for a very close friend getting married on a football Saturday in October 1999.  (It's almost always weddings that end these streaks!)  The only consolation in missing that game against Illinois was the rainy day and the loss to the Illini.  So, alas, my streak is "only" at 78.

I don't have any kind of a streak for home games, but the other day when I was watching an older DVD about michigan football there was a bit on this.

There were a few older people who had been to every home game since the inception..

The guy was well into his 80's looked like, as well as an older lady who had been to every game home and away for over 50 years

Video was from 2000 or late 90s i believe

I am only on an 11 game streak.  However, after this season I'll be on a 19 game streak.  My excuse for my streak not being more impressive is legit though.  I was busy in the military and Iraq/Afghanistan from 2002-2008.  I hope to build a long streak in the coming years.

Several years back, I remember seeing a book at my local public library called, "The Wolverines."  It was written in 1974 and it had all the information about the program up to that point.

Towards the back of the book was a picture of a fan, a season ticket holder picking up his tickets for the 71 season.  Under his picture, it said this guy had been to every single home game from 1927 (the year the big house was built) through the start of the 1971 season...which is a crap load of games.

Wish I could get a copy of that book to see how long his home streak lasted.  Nobody is ever going to beat that guy.

(Sorry, my tally sheet is at home) it's now 145 straight home games.

Throw in some road and bowls, and I'm easily up over 150 total.

But dang, if I'm not sending out some sort of vibe or something.  I was just thinking this morning "it's been probably two years since we've had the 'how many games have you been to' thread...I wonder what night would be the slowest on game week to throw that one on there".  Great minds. Sorry you have to miss the game. You're a better friend than I am (who's seen games on the day he had to take the LSAT, and showed up late for a cousin's wedding for Eastern).

I had a great streak going until 2009.  I hadn't missed a home game since 1997 but in the 2009 season my step sister got married on a football saturday and I had to miss one game.  So I have only missed one home game since 1997 and don't see missing any for a while.

You're like the 3rd or 4th guy (along with the OP) who's streak is ending this weekend. It's not like the game is starting super early in the summer or super late....

Next year when the new pocket schedules come out, I think I'm going to mail them to everyone I know. Just in case.

I've been to 54 out of the last 57 home games.  My longest streak was 35 games.  The stretch goes back to 2003, including the last time we beat OSU.  I've only missed 3 games during this time, 2 for weddings, and 1 for a business trip.  Luckily the games I missed were just Houston, Central Mich, and Delaware St.

I've just missed one game since 1979 when I was a high school sophomore. The one missed game was Houston in 2003. My daughter's t-ball team got picked at random to play a game on the south lawn of the White House. I tried like hell to get out of it, but my wife was having nothing of it. We sat on portable bleachers about 10 feet away from the president. Didn't get to shake his hand, but we did get to meet the commissioner of White House t-ball, Cal Ripken, Jr., who was a real gentleman and signed 2 baseballs.

It was an incredibly unique experience, so I feel justified in missing the game that week. But I've missed plenty of friends' weddings to be in Ann Arbor on Saturdays in the fall. We've all got to have our priorities in life.

I think I have only missed 4 games in the last 12 years (I'm 19). The last one I missed was the Illinois game last year. I was so sick, I'm sure that defense would have made it worse.

For a graduate my streak is really low. Only 19 straight between freshman and junior year. I took fall semester senior year at another school.

for consecutive games, sadly i've only had one season with student tickets in 2003, so however many home games it was that season.  certainly wish it was more.

the streak im most proud of, however, is my consecutive streak for the past 11 world series ('09 and '10) games.

There are the invariable time constraints where you tailgate too long and get stuck in an aisle line as kickoff is about to start, or where the other team is running out the clock, and you head up the stairs before the crowd, so you don't punch a Syracuse fan in the face on the way out.  Or whoever.
