What would you give for a National Title

Submitted by Bo Harbaugh on August 11th, 2023 at 8:45 PM

Now that UM has seemingly found its way out of the wilderness with back to back B1G titles and wins over OSU and this seemingly being Harbaugh's best and most complete team on paper, the hype train seems to be in full gear - With some even saying National Title or bust.

While these may be the expectations at schools like OSU, UGA, and Bama - it's been a long while since UM was amongst the elite and I can't lie - I'm feeling quite excited but also pensive about it.

Our last National Title was 1997 as we all know.  So my Friday question...what do you hold dear that you would give for a CFB Championship?

I'd give up both pinky toes - I figure I can learn to walk just fine without them.

I have a buddy who said he had three nuts for a short period of time.  He got kicked in the balls during a fight and it split one right in two. Most painful thing he ever experienced.

He had surgery and they put it back together and gave him a 95% probability that it was good to go.  Although you only really need one working.  He has three kids.

Dennis.

After indicating that you felt like it was best to leave the board, you've obviously decided to stick around. Okay. You have negative many points, which is an indication of some issues with some of your posts.

Perhaps you might benefit from a bit of advice I got many years ago from a great professor: if you want to avoid arguments and controversy in various settings, there are three topics you should avoid broaching. Politics. Religion. Sex.

Please consider taking that advice. Think about what you are about to type (its subject matter) and whether or not it introduces one of those three elements?

Thank you.

I like to imagine that Michigan wins the National Championship 5 years in a row with total domination in years 1,3, and 5.  In year two, we beat OSU on the way with a half dozen controversial calls and in year 4 we back into the playoffs with a loss to OSU just to really grind their begonias,

Any of the classics: first born child, sell my soul, left nut.

That said, the only one on this list that's consequential is my left nut because I am childless and sterile and I don't believe in souls.

I would give up nothing. I want the guys to earn it due to their hard work and perseverance.

We'll ALL appreciate the Natty more for that. Besides, the phantom pain you'll experience of not having your pinky toes will haunt you for the rest of your life.

To be honest, beating OSU means more to me (I spent some of my childhood in Ohio and screw those guys), and the B1G matters next. Those are the things that matter to me every day, and the things the team can really control. The CFP would definitely be wonderful to win, but I don't know how much MORE happy it would make me compared to the last 2 OSU games. Those were both peak fan experiences for me.

As an ex-Ohio resident of 24 years (1995-2019), I wholeheartedly agree.  Beating OSU is the cake, winning the B1G is the icing, beating MSU is the cherry on top, a CFP win would be like the ice cream scoop, and a CFP Championship would be the hot fudge on top.  I’m sure extra stuff would be great, but it’s wholly unnecessary.

I’ve switched up everything this year for it. Went from Nike to pfg columbia. Which is bad ass btw. Bought brooks (almost Michigan colors) started mowing my yard from east to west. Also started carrying my phone in left pocket instead of my right. At my age and families history of health issues, this could be it lol.

I’d give up Michigan football. Wait, hear me out. If they won an NC it would likely be the last for 30+ years (‘47, ‘97, ‘23, ?? maybe 2060???) and I’d either be long dead by then or the game will be glorified flag football, so who cares? I’d take the win and never watch another game…
