What's your worst memory ever going to a Michigan game?

With Christmas 8 days away, Festivus 6 days away, Hannukah 1 day away, and Kwanza 9 days away, i think we need some TOXICITY here on the board.

What is your worst experience or memory going to Michigan stadium for a football game? Mine was when I was 17 and went to the air force game. A bunch of old heads/racists around me telling Denard to cut his hair and spilling bbq sauce on my Chad Henne jersey.

I have been to 3 Michigan games in my life. 1997 Iowa, set the bar way too high. 1998 Syracuse, walking out of the stadium muttering to myself “who in the fuck is Donovan McNabb?” Good god that man had his way with us. 2008 Northwestern, I should have left early but stayed til the end, I haven’t seriously entertained going to a game until the Fiesta Bowl this year, but in the end I would still prefer to watch from my chair in my living room. That game ruined me and the idea of being at any game.

First of all Toby, I hate so much about the things you choose to be.

Second of all, my first game as a student was the Donovan McNabb game. I had to look it up but this game came after a loss to Notre Dame Week 1, which I did not remember. So that was a big time oof.

Third of all, first game as an alum was Iowa in 2002. So in addition to being wistful about no longer being a student, we got torched by Iowa (Iowa!) in the rain.

So thank you Toby for bringing up such painful memories. Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate. So he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of *his* family.

It took me a while to figure this out but the Northwestern game at Ryan Field in 1998.  I was going to go with my wife, my children who were very young at the time and friends of ours.  When they made it a night game, we had to leave the kids at home.  When the weather forecast soured, our friends bailed on us.  I went with my wife to the game.  There was torrential rain the entire game.  I couldn't pay anyone to take my extra four tickets.  It was a miserable game for anyone other than Justin Fargus.  I think my wife is still mad at me for taking her.  At least we won.

Losing to Staee in 2015 was pretty bad too but there were no personal repercussions.

Fellow MGoBloggers:  we have been blessed!

Since the Stadium opened, M has won 75% of its games at home.  Even in the last less-eventful 15 years, M has won 70% of its games!  Certainly, there have been downers during that time (including several complete seasons) but I choose to remember the best.  Especially in the wake of an undefeated streak at home that has now reached two seasons!!  If you are 10 years old, do you remember that M has ever lost a game at home?

After attending almost 400 games in the Big House, the way I look at it is without a few downers you don't have the "uppers"!  Same goes for the fan-attendance issues.

And it is so hard to separate the best moments....  after a fabulous season, that's what we should be talking about!  Happy Holidays!

Pretty sure I was at the 21-14 loss to Northwestern in 2008, but I may have permanently removed that from my memories. I just remember rain and cold and using trash bags in a useless attempt to prevent becoming completely soaked.

Uhhh....App State and I would say it's not close, but the beating at the hands of the Oregon Ducks the week after was also quite shitty.  Hell of a year to have season tix.  Not proud to have participated in "we want Mallett!" that season, either.

Kordell Stewart throwing the ball 70+ yards in the air to Michael Westbrook in the endzone with many Michigan defenders right there to win the game for Colorado on the last play.

I took all of my kids to their first UofM game at age 5, and my rule was we would leave as soon as they wanted no questions asked at halftime or later thus to keep the experience positive and fun. The game I took older son to I picked because we were playing a lower division team and we'd be beating the hell out of them at halftime. I mean we were the #5 team in the nation. Maybe I got of easy by leaving at halftime though.

Nothing really toxic from fans at any games though.

Let’s start from the beginning:

my first ever Michigan road game was at MSU in 1993, a loss

my 2nd ever Michigan home game was Colorado 1994

an extremely good decade followed, but then…

Rose Bowl against Texas

Alamo Bowl against Nebraska

App State, Oregon back to back

Toledo

a 1-10 road/neutral site record from 2008-2014 which included the gator bowl against Miss St and Alabama in Jerryworld, plus nearly every home game in that span (the entirety of the RR/Hoke era)

2015 MSU

and a few random road games that by that point I was numb to.

Haven’t attended a game since the 2017 season. You’re welcome, everyone.

That one game when everyone in my row/section was the size of a lumberjack. Our row stood as one and sat as one, you had no choice. Spent 3.5 hours with a knee or two in my back and the back of a gentleman’s head about six inches from my nose.  Thankfully my other seating experiences at the Big House haven’t been quite that bad. While it’s nice having the largest home crowds, I think I’d prefer an extra 4 inches of seat!

2003 @Oregon.  I went to see Braylon and Breaston clobber the ducks.  I forked over $$ for front row, 50 yard line tickets behind out bench.   It did not end well.
