What's the reaction on the Rome trip where you live?

Submitted by IA-Maize on

Here in Iowa I have been pleasantly surprised on the very favorable coverage I am hearing/seeing about the Rome trip. The trip is described by local radio and press as a huge win for the program both in free advertising and exposure. One local sports radio program has been talking about it every day thus far-music to my ears. So how are you seeing it in your area? any valid criticisms?

Now if only the offense had shown up in Iowa City last fall.........

worst most negative reaction is always from penn state fans. they are so harbaugh obsessed it is embarassing. franklin is now a god over there and they are a super power now that can do no wrong.

NobodyI know is really talking about it, not even my Michigan fan friends. I don't think it's making the impact on regular fans that it's supposed to make on the players and recruits. We're not the intended audience.

the people don't like them no Jim Hardbahhh.  They say he cheats and is a liar.  They say they don't like cheaters.  They say they love Trump.

I just ignore them as I walk to the beach with my surfboard.

Here in faraway Northern California, news about Michigan Football normally wouldn't cause much of a ripple but for the fact Jim Harbaugh is still missed by most of the 49ers' fanbase (seeing as how the 49ers, you know, fell off a cliff after he left). I still haven't heard much in the local media, but what little I've heard was mostly positive. Kawakami wrote a blog post about the trip for the Mercury-News that was mostly positive, but he snuck in a jab about how Harbaugh "got scolded" for throwing a football in a shopping mall (which is such a Kawakami thing to do). One of my work colleagues who is a diehard (and embittered) 49ers' fan mentioned the Rome trip to me and said, "See? That's what makes him a great coach, and that's why they ran him out of town. He's innovative. He thinks outside the box. In the NFL, coaches have to be lackeys and yes-men. Still can't believe we fired him."

Not far from AA so you'd expect pretty good coverage.  The Blade sent a reporter along.  He's pretty much filled the Blade sports page every day with articles and pictures.  I'm guessing a number of suckeye fans have already canceled their subscriptions.
