I'm wondering what would've happened if Michigan had beaten Iowa and everything else stayed the same. Many seem to think the CFP is obligated to take the Wisconsin-PSU winner. OSU would've been in. Could Michigan still have been screwed even with only yesterday's loss?

I'm just as much pissed and frustrated as the next guy here. All in all we have shown in 2 years time to be able to take the B1G crown, Can't wait for an even more full #Harbaughroster for years to come. #Dominate

In a year like this one, if Michigan doesn't make the top 4, I'll be rooting for Washington and a good guy in Chris Petersen.

After yesterday's game, I told myself I'd take a break from football until next season.

And... I'm back.

Every team that is 1-4 only has one loss.  But, 3 of them have to play another game.  If Colorado beats Washington (whom UM beat), I'd have to assume UM gets the nod.  The only other team I can see getting in ahead of UM is if Wiscy beats PSU soundly.  Even then it's hard to imagine Wiscy goes ahead of UM.  UM beat Wiscy and crushed PSU.  That would leave Wiscy's only argument as a 17-9 win over Iowa, which hardly seems right to put them ahead of UM when UM lost to Iowa by one point, beat Wiscy head-to-head, and lost by a smaller margin to OSU.  It would be one thing if Wiscy beat OSU, but they didn't.  So, if UW looses I think UM has got a decent shot.

Michigan is a better team than Wisconsin.

But if Wisconsin wins the committee will take conference champ Wisconsin over 3rd in division Michigan.

Reality is that Michigan and OSU are both a bit better than Wisconsin, and all three are better than Penn State.  But the gap between Michigan OSU and Wisconsin is not very big.

Hard to tell what the committee would do.  I guess it's the question of what is more important, putting in a conferene winner or the better team given the body of work.  I guess the same could be said if PSU wins the B1G, but I can't see them getting ahead of UM either.  What if Clemson or Bama lose their conference title?  Could Florida get in with 2 losses?

I'm going in assuming that no matter what happens, we're out. A lot is going to have to happen for us to get in, and even if everything breaks just right, we're still only the third best team (technically) in our division.

Colorado would have to beat Washington (not likely, but possible). Clemson would need to lose to VaTech for good measure, and The BTT game would need to be a total slopfest of a game where both teams look awful.

Even if all of this happens, you still need to get past the committee. The committee would then have to make a choice on whether they value conference championships or overall body of work more. And the indications thus far have been they want conference title winners over the perceived "better teams." Wisconsin or PSU would have the conference title but Michigan beat both of them, one of which was a total massacre.

If all of this breaks just right, maybe there's someone on the committee who thinks Michigan deserves a shot after going toe to toe on the road with the #2 team in the country and losing on a very questionable spot call. But I'd tell you to save your breath and not get your hopes up.

I tend to agree with you, probably only because I prefer to assume things won't go in UM's favor. However, if I were a complete outsider with no horse in the race, I don't see how anyone could put in Wiscy or PSU over UM when they all have identical records (for whomever wins the B1G), yet UM beat both of them.  I don't think the other teams really matter.  It's really only between UW, B1G winner, and UM.

I don't see what it matters if your 2 losses were in conference or out of conference.  Granted, I think it's important who you lose to and by how much, but not whether or not it's in or out of conference.  That distinction is important for the conference championship conversation, but not the playoff conversation IMO.  But, that's just me and not what I believe the committee will do.  Only time will tell.

All that being said, I'd prefer not to go to the playoff because I think Bama and Clemson are both significantly better than us and don't want to see that game.  We can obviously play with OSU and I'd love to see us play UW, but I think a bowl game against another opponent would be better of UM.  I'd like to see us play Tennessee, Oklahoma, or Florida again.  I don't want any part of Louisville or any other mobile QBs, or Dalvin Cook for that matter.

I think the committee will look at the 10 television rating for a noon game yesterday and see the dollar signs and create their own big title game by keeping OSU 2 and Michigan 3. The committee will leave the pac12, and the ACc fighting for the 4 spot. Whoever wins convincingly is in, or if they all lose we see more chaos. I think this is the year the committee proves its point that the 4 best teams not just conference champs with two losses will play for it all. The committee and everyone knows PSU is not beating Bama, neither is Wisconsin, or Washington. This comes down to Clemson winning the ACC.

It's not happening this year.  If Washington loses then I think they will jump the PSU - Wisky winner or Colorado over us even though we beat all of them.  Should have played better at Iowa.

if there is a god:

- colorado beats washington, barely

- penn state beats wiscy, barely

- clemson loses by a lot

michigan sneaks in at #4.

rematch with osu in the final game.

crushing win, 40-0.

a man can dream, can't he?

The interesting thing about all this is that while the committee and everyone else puts such a high value on promoting the "conference champ," yet we've beat both teams in the B1G championship and we will have beaten the PAC12 champ if Colorado wins. This is indeed interesting.

Anybody who watched yesterday saw us outplay OSU, get hosed on two to four crucial calls, stop OSU to win the game, and could not possibly have felt we were not every bit as good as them, IN THEIR OWN HOUSE. F all of this for a lark.

I don't think there's a team in the country better than us other than Alabama. We had OSU beat in Columbus and have cleaned up 3 other teams in the top 10. If we could've had a shot at Bama, I think we'd have a shot in what would be a very low scoring game

Wow, we beat 3 of the top 9 AP teams and took a fourth to 2 OT (or won it in 2 OT if you prerfer).

That's damn impressive.  Nobody can say that Harbaugh does not have us back.
