We have all gone insane.

As we all know, yesterday's game was a clusterfuck of epic proportions on par with the worst losses we've ever seen as a program.

None of us are optimistic for the rest of the season or even next year. Some of us even think that Harbaugh should be fired.

I'm here to tell you that absolutely is not going to happen.

By all accounts he runs a clean program and has only lost 15 games thus far in his tenure. The stadium is still full and the AD is drowning in cash, so unless we have a losing record, followed by another one next year, I sincerely doubt Harbaugh will be fired.

Rich was fired because he was never competent in games against quality opponents. Hoke was fired because you could get into the stadium for the price of two cokes in 2014.

So if you really believe Harbaugh should be shown the door, give up your season tickets. Stop going to games. Stop buying merch. Because nothing is more important than money, and the AD is still making plenty.

Go Blue.

The team that just beat us, then ranked 15th.

One of our biggest rivals on the road, then ranked 24th.

PSU, then ranked 14th.

Division-winning NW team on the road.

Those are all good wins. And a 10 game winning streak in the B1G - especially the east - is pretty damn good.

Last year was really fun until OSU. How soon people forget.

People have ground their expectations in reality.

Jimbo Fisher won an NC, finished every season after his 2nd as HC in the Top-15, and had two QBs get injured in the first two games, the wheels came off and then he was fired, having never lost more than 3 games since their NC.

Last year they went 5-7.

Nobody is happy with Saturdays performance, at all, but a "new head coach" is not only rarely an improvement, but things can get worse, much worse, much much much worse.

People in this thread have noted Harbaugh has lost his edge.  Remember when he used to get fired up and fling his clipboard?  He hasn't done that since the second season.

My wife works with special needs kids, many of which are on different medications for things like ADD, etc.  She is absolutely certain Harbaugh was put on some kind of meds after the second season to calm him down, and it seems to have worked.  He seems to be a different coach after that.

Anyway, just an observation by someone familiar with such things, not stated as fact.  Could explain a lot though.

When someone has a great deal of familiarity and experience with certain situations, observation is evidence (not saying proof, but we're talking evidence).  Other posters have noted Harbaugh's thousand-mile stare.  When you've seen that enough times knowing the background, it's easy to spot even when you don't have the background.

MGOBLOG meltdowns are simply a site to behold. A combination of delusion and denial. Characteristics  that our beloved football program can identify with.

A reasonable and practical post on mgoblog? Have you gone mad?! I’m with you.  Most likely this will be a 7-5 type season, 2005 again.  What a lot of the concern is there is not much hope for the future.

Not all of us have gone insane, though a large chunk have, indeed.

What happened yesterday, at this point in his tenure, should not and can not happen. They were ill prepared and crumbled once they had the slightest bit of adversity. That falls largely on the coaches but also on the players.

The season though is far from over. With that said, if big changes are not made immediately and they continue to act like "whoa is me" once something bad happens and they're just going through the motions, then it is.

I agree that it never should happen, but it still does happen sometimes--even to the really good teams. OSU got absolutely blown out in consecutive years in 2017 (by shitty Iowa) and 2018 (by shitty Purdue) got dealt an uncompetitive asskicking by Virginia Tech in the year they won the national championship. I'm not saying we're going to be OSU this year. We look like ass at the moment. However, this kind of thing happens to good teams sometimes too.

Yes, I am SO sick of hearing every week, "we have to get better"... okay, its now been 210 weeks (guesstimate) the JH regime has been in place at UM, but I must say, I keep hearing the same old bullshit as I heard from Hoke's sewer... "I accept responsibility blah blah blah" and "we need to get better"... I swear if I hear Pattertrash say that he needs to get better (which still has not happened) I will put a foot through my tv, oh wait, Pattertrash isnt worth that, retract my last... What I am waiting to see, and wait for it.... is for one of the players/coaches to ACTUALLY show improvement from their statements of "we have to get better". I mean, is this just fluff and smoke to think that just because they accept accountability that they are trash, we all wake up Sunday with amnesia? WHy in 4 years have improvement NOT happened... I dont want to hear your mouth say you need to get better, I want you to show it on the football field for 60 minutes every Saturday damnit... end rant

Frankly, saying that Rich Rod's problem was not performing well in big games is a gross understatement of what his problems were. His problem was that he put together one of the worst defenses in the country every year and it only showed signs of getting worse over his time as coach here. He then continued to prove he couldn't put together a mildly competent defense at his next stop in Arizona too. The only era of his career that could lead anybody to believe he had even a vague concept for defense was at West Virginia in the later years of the Big East when the more quality programs had already bailed for the ACC.

It's just funny that OP would phrase things that way while not seeming to recognize the irony.
