Ill be that guy. No one cares about the iron dick trophy. Just play the games in Ann Arbor or EL. You don’t gotta play M-OSU in Toledo and hand out The Glass T. The rivalry speaks for itself

great to beat FYS again and contribute to their very sad February

glad they won.  glad they beat sparty.  glad they are climbing the B10 rankings.

wish they didn't win an upside down toilet plunger as the trophy though.

I’ll be the other guy, while I didn’t go tonight, I had have gone to many of these games downtown, and usually it is near a sellout, and it is pretty close to 50/50, and a lot of fun.  Haven’t been to one at LCA, but probably went to 10+ at the Joe.   Having it on a Monday may not be the best, but they were always fun games

I would be interested in having a basketball Duel in the D as a non-conference game in addition to the two big ten games. This rivalry is just too fun in basketball. It would be a sell out marquee matchup most years. Could be a cool tradition. Plus, it would allow for a team to win the series, rather than having a home and home split.

Michigan/MSU does have a protected rivalry. When the B1G moved to a 20-game schedule last season they also put in a provision that three rivalries will be guaranteed a home-and-home: Purdue/Indiana, Northwestern/Illinois, and the aforementioned Michigan/MSU.

Love it! Hockey team has been playing so well in the new year. Would love to see them make the tournament.

Great win for the team - very proud of what they've been able to do and turning around their season.

Not big on having to give up a home game to do this - working out something in non-con may have been better.  And on a Monday night?  LCA was clearly not sold out (at least the stands were not full from the broadcast video) - a weekend game would have been better.

Don't really care for the trophy itself -this rivalry doesn't really need one (most played in NCAA hockey and got along fine without one).  It feels too artificial, like the Paul Bunyan trophy (except instead of it being forced upon the schools by a governor for personal political gain, it was forced by a corporate promotional money grab).

It's a tough call.  Michigan plays 3 games a year in Detroit, and presumably 1-2 of those each year could be games at Yost instead.  My first thought is that if Michigan really wants to play in a lethargic half-full arena, they can do that in the NCAA tournament.

The thing is, though, a lot of the players on the team--the ones from the Detroit area--talk about watching Michigan-Michigan State in Joe Louis Arena, they say that was their first exposure to college hockey, and that the opportunity to play on the Wings' home ice was a factor in coming to Michigan.

If it helps recruiting, then okay--I will give up 1 game against Michigan State in Yost every 2 years to help some kid decide to take Michigan over Notre Dame or Western Michigan or the OHL.
