Way too early 2019 Football Depth Chart attempt

Can use some help on the backup OL spots, D-Line and linebacker spots as well

Didn’t designate the walk-ons since some get 1-year scholarships sometimes

We finally having some returning starters who've stabilized our OL.  Our Oline has been up in the air, as far as who's going to start.  We finally have a starting center and both guards returning.  Why mess with that?

Kemp and Dwumfour are returning with Mazi and Hinton coming in.  Hinton and Smith have both been talked about as able to contribute as freshman, regardless of need.  Add to that Jeter.

DT depth is not even close as a concern as our oline was coming in to the last couple of years.

That roster actually looks amazing on paper. A lot of talent with lot of speed.

Biggest losses are going to be Bush, winovich, long, higdon, gary, kinnell and Gentry...in this order.

(Solomon, Gil, Ross to help replace Bush. Hinton, Hutchison, Uche and Paye to help replace winovich and Gary. Ambry Thomas for kinnell. Dax Hill for Long. Eubanks to replace Gentry. Charbonnett, evans, Wilson to replace higdon)

somebody hopefully steps up in these spots. Looks very bright!

Predicting 10-1 going against OSU (lone loss to penn state)

Defense is definitely going to take a step back, but we thought that two years ago too and Brown re-loaded it pretty quickly by plugging in young talent. Maybe the silver lining is that JH will realize he is going to have to outscore some teams and will open up his offense. There is actually plenty of NFL talent on the offensive side of the ball now.

I believe Keegan will move inside to a guard position. Carpenter's HS coach said that he would be very good at center-and I believe Harbaugh agreed with that assessment. Rumler is pegged to stay at guard...reports are that he does not wish to move to center...there is no reason for Michigan to want him to as well. Trente Jones has been playing RT and I think that is his position. Mayfield and Hayes will hopefully take over the LT position-sooner rather than later. The reports of Barnhart keep getting better-not sure where he'll end up. Otherwise, this OL position group is setting up to be damn good...and this does not even include all the underclassmen!

This is a most wonderful  "conundrum" to have! The (further) good news is that Michigan has Warinner to figure this out. I just think that it is better to have a talent like Rumler freed up and not have to worry about making the line calls. Let that kid "simply" concentrate on how he is going to execute that next block.

The 2020 class is becoming a topic of discussion...looks as though the talent pool being strongly recruited will likely continue to add to this stellar group. Myles Hinton, come on down!!!

"Rumler is pegged to stay at guard...reports are that he does not wish to move to center..." —Outsidethebox

"Rumler said he would start at guard and would eventually like to move to center." —Double-D

This is the magic of the internet: two people can make diametrically opposite claims in the same thread, yet nobody seems to take notice.

So which is it—does Rumler want to move to center, or not?

I should know better...putting credence in what sports writers publish. I know what I offered was reported...and that I have never seen it reported that Rumler wanted to move to center. I know it was reported that Rumler stated that making the move would be difficult...does not sound as though it is a move he wishes to make. How's that???

Hopefully Stueber gets better because holy crap that looked like Ulizio 2.0 against Florida. I understand everyone loves Tru, hard worker but I hope to only see him in late garbage time. Turner and Charbonnet needs those reps. It’s so hard to project anything this early. A new OC and a changed Harbaugh could really shake things up.

Not true.  Stueber is nearly equal to JBB as merely a redshirt frosh.  Coach Ed will get him at a much higher level than JBB.  Stueber's ceiling is way higher than JBB, shit he is only 19years old.

Scat Back is not a position in Harbaugh's offense.  RB rotation will be scheme driven, but Evans is going to have a prominent role overall.  Needs to stay healthy.

I get the board soured on Higdon because of sitting out the bowl game, but the kid was 1st team all-conference this past year and had 2,000+ yards over the past 2 seasons. I think it’s a little far-fetched to think a kid who hasn’t ran the ball more than 20 times yet at this level will be more productive than Higdon was this season.

I know everyone gets excited with new blood but I wouldn’t expect freshmen to get serious time unless it’s spot duty or special packages. It’s a serious jump to go from HS to College - I’d be impressed if any of them pull starter snaps - I actually expect AH to move inside if we don’t find a DL transfer.

If a freshman DL cracks the rotation I will be impressed. My guess is Aidan moves inside and we’ll see a situational rotation of Uche, Paye, Dwumfour, Kemp, Jeter, Hutch, Villain, Paea - I could even see a LB bulking up and playing DE and like I said Hinton and Smith will see run if they’re physically ready.

Had not really thought of Aidan moving inside...can see some real upside with this-especially in third and long situations...and in general I would see his quick-twitch speed creating a lot of havoc here-and he has the frame to play well at 300+ pounds. Otherwise, I am not a hand-wringer here, the DL is going to continue to be more than "just fine".

It's basically just mirroring what the NFL has been doing for years now - DE's become DL's and LB's become DE's. If you see guys bulking up and putting on weight (a la Kemp) it's usually a sign they're moving somewhere else. I have a gut feeling Anthony might move up to DE similar to what Uche did - provides more speed on the edges and gets as many of your best players on the field at the same time. I know JH and DB will find guys to produce - the concern is always depth and health.
