Way OT - Your favorite conspiracy theories
WD's mushroom induced alien life thread has me thinking about conspiracy theories.
Do you think the government is hiding the existance of aliens from us? Maybe that Oswald didn't act alone? What's your favorite conspiracy theory?
I typically don't believe in them, since most people are stupid and it's hard for them to keep secrets, even at the point of a gun.
However, part of me thinks that Roosevelt knew Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked (the British knew for sure as they had already cracked the Japanese naval codes). Although, if he knew an attack was going to happen, why leave the battleships there? Surely the country would have been just as outraged if some destroyers, cruisers, and other smaller ships were sunk instead.
9/11, War on Iraq, Cheney shooting his buddy in the face while drunk, and the laughable continuation of reliance on fossil fuels when we have the technology, and have had for decades, to move away from oil as fuel.

This is a bit different, and I think everyone (for the most part) has done a nice job of keeping things relatively acceptable by the site standards.

The only reason marijuana is not legal everywhere is because of the ridiculous power of the drug companies. This is true, so nevermind....this won't qualify as a conspiracy theory.
And for the record, I have been reading up on some of the conspiracies posted in this thread and now 3 hours later...... From NASA to 911 to Stevie Wonder, etc... Well done everyone - this is a fascinating thread.

Yeah, I was aware of the theories about the Denver airport, but had never actually read about it directly until today. Good stuff. Crazy stuff.

One conspiracy theory that seems plausible to me is that there were others involved in the Murrah building bombing in OKC that federal agencies know about but have decided not to pursue. The official story is that Timothy McVeigh acted largely alone but did have assitance from Terry Nichols. The Fortiers were also convicted based on their knowledge of the impending attack, but that is the extent of the people who were ever prosecuted for the bombing.
At the time of the bombing, though, the FBI was actively searching for John Doe #2 for at least several weeks following the bombing and issued a drawing of him and asking for the public's help in identifying him. Based on testimony from the truck rental agent, eyewitnesses in OKC, and video tape, there was someone with McVeigh (not Terry Nichols) to rent the truck and who rode with him to OKC. According to this conspiracy theory, there were also other people likely involved as well that the FBI either knows about or should know about.
