Ok first argument worth an upvote. Passing game is definitely worrisome. Would have liked for them to at least use some press down field. The shots of Gattis in the box were discouraging. On the other hand they didn’t need the passing game. Haskins and Blake played great. Cade played with what he he was given. He looked upset at times but he won so…

Eh, 300+ yards of rushing against a top-end Pac-12 defense is not an easy thing to do, so you have to give them credit and perhaps think that this sort of performance, mixed in with some passing (bloody hell, throw the ball now and again, would you?) might allow them to do some damage later on in the season as well.

Uggg 7/15 44yds passing is horrid and at the same time makes the run gam look even more dominant.

I get the frustration on the passing game and lets be honest.  A solid passing game and this was over before the 3rd qtr starts.  A solid passing attack and it’s a blow out win that was never close.  There is a lot that this offense has to work on in the passing game.  And it’s business and the difference of winning vs top teams and not.

If we were on the other end of this rushing performance you'd comment about how impressive the other team's running attack was and say"why would they ever bother throwing the ball against when our run D was so pathetic?" Guess what? That's exactly what UW fans are saying right now. There was no reason to throw the ball tonight when we could run like we did. The strength of UWs defense is its two NFL caliber CBs, so why test them if you don't have to?

Bottom line, the coaches did a great job of "reading the room" and adapting to what worked best against this specific opponent; isn't that what we want to see our coaches do?

Also, call me old school but I thought the offense was a thing of beauty tonight!

I understand what you are saying but Haskins and Corum are our best players on offense and UWs best players on D happened to be their CBs. So it seems smart to heavily utilize our best guys and marginalize their best guys. Would I have liked to see Cade throw a bit more? Sure, I guess. But I'm not going to focus on negatives when we won by three TDs and ran the ball as dominately as we did. I'm happy with this game and am choosing to enjoy it. If/when we lose a game because we can't throw the ball then that is the time to bitch and moan. But that time is not now.

you are insinuating that we should be practicing our passing offense against the best pass D we will face instead of playing to win the game and making said pass defense obsolete in a dominating victory. If we had chucked the ball 30+ times liked you hoped we would, there is a good chance we would have lost.

Play to your strengths, game to game. Don’t play to the opponent’s strengths. That’s what Harbaugh did, that’s actually what pretty much all NFL coaches do as well. The next 2 weeks should be fairly easy wins, and will be good chances to get those passing reps in, and to gel with receivers not named Ronnie Bell.

Eric All needs to become a security blanket tight end and a couple receivers need to develop a good rapport with Cade, of these 3 can happen it should more than make up for the absence of Ronnie as far as the receivers go.

Also, we might have the best RB tandem and one of the best run blocking o lines in the country.

This is Harbaughs offense, it always has been and always will be. If youre okay with body blowing bad teams but not being able to keep up with the better ones, he's your guy. I just dont see being able to establish any passing game consistently if you dont even try against the easier part of the schedule.

We know we have good backs, damn good actually. Just wish we would use the run to open up the pass at some point, because we'll need it.

Because at some point they’ll need to pass to win a game. Like overall I agree if you can win a game win a game. Opening drive of the second half with no passes, awesome. But to not even attempt a 2 minute drill in a game you are  only up 10-0 in at the end of the first half? That tells me it’s not just situational management but that our offense can’t do it. And that tells me this is going to be another year were we are incapable of beating any team worth a damn and will have a relatively empty 8 win year

No idea, but we didnt have as reliable of a run game back then, so we did kind of have to pass. The last two OCs of sort (Hamilton and Gattis) were both wide receiver coaches. You think their ideas of an offense are ground and pound? We do the same thing under Gattis as we did under Hamilton except we do it out of the shotgun. We still take forever and a day to get a play in.

Washington's secondary most likely is the best secondary we will face all year.  I was split some about tonight.  Did I want to see more passing (and in particular effective passing game, not swing passers that UW was all over) yes, but in this game at this moment it was obvious that we could run the ball pretty much at will.  Combined with our defense shutting down UW, running was the obvious choice.

I am just taking the view that the passing game will evolve now that we have pretty much established that we can run.  Most team will now have to commit an 8th player to the box which will open up play action passing.  That's what I want to see over the next 2 games.....

They beat a P5 team by multiple scores. That’s good!

At the same time, they will need to throw the ball to win in the future and there are serious question marks there. It’s not just that they barely threw it, but their passing game looked mediocre whenever they did throw it. I think McNamara had a single completion that was more than 5 yards down the field, and that was to Corum. QB and WRs will need to be much more effective in the future to beat Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, and Ohio State.
