One game isn't necessarily a predictor. Weird things happen in college football. In 2007, after shitting the bed against FCS App State, Michigan lost to Oregon, went 9-2 in the rest of their games, and beat Florida in a bowl.

Hard to say what they'll be like next week.

Ok now do all the seasons where a team lost to a terrible team and then continued to suck…Washington may very well bounce back but a cross country flight to play night game after that debacle isn’t an easy feat. Some people are acting as if Washington is a tougher team now than had they won 70-0…bizzare

Yikes.  I watched all of this game.

One thing is that Washington was without their top 3 receivers.  I don't know if they will be in for the Michigan game.

Honestly no. Shit, App State was an FCS powerhouse back in 2007. They had won two straight national championships going into their game with Michigan and went on to win their third straight that same season. It seems like it’s a lot more accepted now that some FCS programs are actually really damn good and respectable, so a really good FCS team beating a P5 or even a ranked P5 team isn’t super crazy anymore. The horror was just the first time that had really happened, so there was a lot of shock value in that sense.

That, and the fact that Michigan is probably the most hated program in CFB lol.

Some of your folks logic is ridiculous. Actually arguing that Washington is going to be tougher now after 13-7 home loss to Montana because they will be “ready to go” now. What would you have said if they would have won 70-0?? Do you think teams show up uninterested to night games in the big house unless they previously suffer defeats at the hands of fcs programs??? Quit being such defeatists…we don’t have to look much farther than last year to remember to not overlook teams and our program isn’t in that position where we can do that anyways. Win the game.

Thank you for saying this. No matter the result it's always just spun to be a negative for Michigan.

Other team coming off a tough loss? They'll be out for blood!! Coming off a close win? They learned how pull out a tough victory! Massive blowout victory? They're riding high on an unshakeable wave of confidence!

On the heels of a disaster 2-4 season, I don't think that Michigan will be taking anyone lightly this year.

Sucks big time for us. We’re gonna have our big recruiting weekend next week, this was a chance to get a solid win in front of them and bring positive juju to the team. Now if we win, no one will care. And if we lose….yikes

The only thing that will really change is we’ll probably no longer be the underdog in this game.

But I’ve seen this script too many times.  Team ‘A’ plays like dog shit against others, has the game of their life against Michigan.  Team ‘B’ will lose 5 fumbles against Maryland or Rutgers, will not lose a single fumble against Michigan.  It just happens soooo much.

I really don’t think they’re stupid enough to overlook Washington because 2020 still has to be fresh in their minds.  And yes, Montana is nothing to write home about.  But there’s not a chance in hell the Huskies come out that flat next week.

But winning by 50 next week, that would be really cool too.

It was a big loss for Washington to have coaches Chris Peterson and Pete Kwiatkoski leave. Both are very good.

Just win Blue!

I can tell most posters here didn't actually watch the game.  The Husky defense is still pretty legit.  But WOOF Husky fans were concerned about their QB all offseason and they were proven right in the worst way.  That dude is BAD. I'm sure they'll fix some things and be slightly more together next week.  But if we shut down Eleby this week (who was a Top 5 QB on our schedule) then Washington's QB is in for a hurting.

If we pressure him, those WR's (if they don't get some their top ones back) are in for a bad day

Just a quick search says 1 suffered an injury midway through camp, so somewhat expected not to play.  2 others were expected to start today but didn't, and given that Coach Lake apparently doesn't comment on injuries (but said he would address current ones on Monday), seems likely that the other 2 were injured this week.

I'm assuming the injuries aren't that serious, but I wouldn't expect all of them back this week

Washington's coach is in his 6th game as a HC...so, I didn't think they would be that much of a test to be honest...

That said, didn't think they'd lose to Montana either.

How I look at this game is this:

Washington may be feeling the same way we felt in 2007 post the HORROR when Oregon came to town - and SMOKED us 39-7 or so.

Punch them early with run game and PA pass. They have a newer coach and will be looking for the exits.

Put rocky in his place at NIU with a pick six and 60+ points - he got lucky after DB's defensive schemes were exposed

Beat up Schiano who turned us down after saying yes in Dec 2007.

Put UW back down after they suffer their 2nd home loss vs.ND

then be ready for Sparty in late Oct
