Was Ben Mason crushing a LB the only highlight for Michigan players in the Senior Bowl

Didn't see nico record a catch, I watched the 2nd half. He didn't play at all so not sure if he even played? Got good reviews for potential first round

He's prolly not going that high but he definitely helped himself this week. A couple of Browns bloggers really like his size/speed and hands. They projected him going 3rd or 4th however.
VERY deep WR class and after last year's glut less teams are looking for a #1 so some good players, like Nico, might drop.

strange, i know it is a deep class, but if anyone is looking to take a chance on a big physical down field threat there was lots of talk about of him going in the top 60 picks..
I wouldn't be surprised to see him go before the 3rd

He didn’t really produce in college and nobody knows if he can get open underneath against nfl level defensive backs. Look at miles Boykin, big athletic guy who won contested balls in college but can’t do shit in the nfl because he gets no seperation

not a brown fan but if Browns get Nico and they will do great while having Peoples and Nico on each side of the offense... oooooo boy! they were fun to watch while playing for Michigan!
Go BLUE!

Unless you consider snaps by Cameron Cheeseman, then yes
Evans did not play. Collins hardly played without a target. Thomas played sparingly and was not targeted. Thomas did make a tackle.

Any idea why Evans didn't play?

No idea - he was reportedly awesome in practice. Maybe just avoiding injury without much further to gain? (Complete speculation)

It's possible they basically used the Senior Bowl practices as kinda a replacement of the NFL Combine?

Honestly I think he probably should have blocked the other guy into oblivion

I could've sworn that Mason was gonna steal Patrick Ricard's job with Baltimore, but then I watched Titans/Ravens a few weeks ago and realized Ricard is 311 pounds or something crazy as a fullback, so I think Mason has a ways to go before that happens.

Ricard also plays defensive line. His versatility keeps him on a roster

But Mason also plays defensive line. Sort of.

Anyone know who was on the receiving end of that block? Would it be too much to ask it be one of those OSU LBs?
January 31st, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
It wasn't and he missed his assignment. sadly over on one of the ohio sites they have a loop of Mason getting blown up by one of their linebackers in practice.

I think Nico size might help him slide up a few spots ,im gonna say mid 3rd round ,Id love to see the Lions take him
January 30th, 2021 at 11:24 PM ^
I hear the Lions have an extra third to burn this year.

Mason blocked the wrong guy. If he makes the correct block, the RB breaks free instead of being stopped at LOS.
January 30th, 2021 at 10:42 PM ^
Nope - his job on that play is to get to the second level and take out the LB.

Thanks, Ben, for all you did for Michigan.

Mason made some early memories with his FB touchdowns. Unfortunately he seems to have erased some of those with his more recent and more frequent unnecessary roughness penalties and hits way after the whistle.

As I understand it, the practices are what really matters in the senior bowl, the game is of little consequence to NFL scouts.
