... *should* have been able to win that game regardless--and it's a great win for St. John's--but it's worth noting that two of Villanova's starters were injured and did not play. So they weren't competing with the squad that achieved the # 1 ranking. And they've never had the depth of a UNC or Duke.

I guess they need to fire Beilein too. He's wrecking programs all over the country.

for Michigan is they're not a great shooting team. They're shooting 36.1% from 3 pt as whole which isn't bad but combined with their dreadful FT shooting, the offense hasn't been playing up to the usual offensive standards. Luckily, their defense is pretty solid which helps. They are winning games in a grind it out mode.

with the biggest case of the collective yips of any Beilein team yet.

That would be among the best shooting team JB has field at Michigan. They're shooting 36% at 3 pt land which is okay.

That has to be the weirdest season ever. Lose 11 straight Big East teams then beat two #1 seeds in a week.

This could be the big thing that turns St. John's around. Mullin has them playing well and more importantly with attitude and maybe this will attract some better recruits. They didn't give a damn that they were playing #4 Duke and #1 Villanova. They went out and got it.
Whatever St. John's is on, can Michigan have some? Mentality goes a long way in this game.

Our problems are not playing well against elite teams. Well, other than UNC I guess. But in Big Ten play we've played one bad (disastrous, awful) half against the three top teams, kicked ass in three, and played Purdue even in four.

Would help if the PG could hit the open 3s the opponents give him. Maybe it will happen this year and the offense will catch fire.

St. John's played the Musketeers tight at home and on the road. They are certainly much better than their record implies (especially how they had lost 11 straight before the upsets of Duke and Villanova). When we played them and eked out those wins I had a feeling they were due to upset someone. To upset AT Villanova and at a neutral court with 85% Duke fans is unbelievable, especially after losing 11 straight. I wonder if any team that has lost 11 straight went on to upset two Top 5 teams in back-to-back games. It makes you wonder how they lost to DePaul by 17 at home.

I don't know if the Garden is 85% Duke fans during a St. John's game. That doesn't sound right to me.

I personally have felt UVA is much better than Nova but I guess that worked itself out

Shiiit, I remember when Bootsy Thornton was dropping 40 on Duke in Durham and Felipe Lopez going right at Iverson in the Big East tournament. Damn I miss the old Big East.
