Subbed out???
Don't like in the sense only that it means he might start against Mexico. I'd rather see Bobby Wood and Altidore up top than Dempsey. He didn't look great tonight...step slow except for a nice play he made in the box to save a ball from a charging GK. Wasn't horrible, but that won't get it done against Mexico. Played too deep all first half (not his strength) and lost the ball alot more than he normally does. I love Dempsey but I think he is going to need to turn in some better national team performances to hold off Woods, Morris and Pulisic. That's a ton of live and young legs you are keeping on the bench if you are only playing one of them.
End of hte day though, I think he subbed Dempsey just like he did Fabian Johnson..to save legs for Mexico.
but made the right decision for the team (going more defensive and resting Dempsey ahead of Sunday). Understandable that Dempsey would want to stay in to try to tie the record at home.
AGAIN!
2-0 USA
not fair they have to play against 2 teams at once...
You are late to the corny joke party.
Hello!
USA wins.
Sunday night at Mexico. That's going to be a HUGE game.
and a result basically puts us in great shape for a top 3 finish barring a total collapse.
The last three games have put us in a position where we're playing with house money a little bit. We host Panama the second time around so a result against Mexico keeps us in a good position and even without one, still in pretty good shape.
Would be awesome to take one there though.
Couldn't watch, but it sounds like we deserved the 3 points. Pulisic has 4 goals in the last 4 games for the USMNT. I totally see why Klinsmann wasn't playing him. /s
Azteca is going to be a brutal test. If we come away with a point, I'll be very happy, as will most, I think.
Don't expect a result in Azteca. USA has an absolutely horrific record there.
A surefire world class budding superstar who can elevate American soccer to a new level and bring the international attention and acclaim to the country
I'm sold he's the real deal, but I'm not the best at this knowledge. Certainly have higher hopes for him than Lalas or Donovan before him
and for American soccer he is on track to be best ever.
You never know, but he's the best player on the pitch for the U.S. game after game and is a regular for a CL-level squad in Germany. And he's 18.
Lots of M ball caps in the crowd in Denver tonite!!! Go Blue!!!
Great 2nd half.
Man, Bradley is brutal. He started at defensive midfielder and marked NOBODY! When he tried to move the ball forward like he was an attacking midfielder, he could only connect on lateral or backwards passes. Time for Bradley to go!
Pulisic and other Great American Hopes like Freddy Adu is that Pulisic has already scored goals on the biggest stages.
Adu was built up since he was like 6 years old and did not have a clue what to do on the field.
The biggest difference is hope.
With Adu, et al, we hoped they would live up to their potential.
With Pulisic, he's already delivered on the hope.
Now we just hope he doesn't get hurt.
it is incredible how good he already is at 18, so even moderate annual improvement over the next ten or so years plus health gets him to the top tier of the sport, regardless of country.
His second goal last night is an illustration of how he is just on a different level.
The far post looked wide open, but he decided to thread the needle near post . . . and the ball went in like it had eyes.
And he wasn't just trying to get a shot off in desperation before the window closed.
He saw something.
Something that the rest of us didn't.
The other difference is Adu was 26 when he was 18 if you get my drift.
I mean no comparison. Adu was a marketing ad. Pulisic is doing it on the pitch for one of the best teams in Germany.
If Trinidad is teaming up with Tobago, the USA should team up with Mexico.
Are the Sunday set of games the final games to determine who goes to the world cup? I see on the USA schedule we have more games to play in September/October. I'm guessing those are friendlies?
The only thing I'm aware of is that the 4th place team plays a 2 leg series against the 5th place team in Asia like Mexico did against New Zealand last time.
Looks like 5 more games.
