I feel a cardio/psychological/bone spur "health issue" coming on for Urbs. But fear not; Alabama will probably hire him when Saban retires/has his contract with Satan run out.

Meanwhile a new angle of that video of him on the stool with that girl grinding on him is out that and his hand is all up in there

Initially, these threads were coming down because it was thought that A) it's definitely OT and we are trying to make an concentrated effort to keep that to a minimum, and B) it probably wasn't in the best of taste.

All that said, now that he's offered a statement on the matter.....well, clearly in his world, this is a thing that happens to people and there isn't much you can do. It hasn't happened to me as yet, but I will keep an eye out certainly.

honestly, i knew this was going to happen and we're using it as a teachable moment.... i showed this video to Trevor before he went to Vegas for a bachelor party and said, 'don't let this happen to you'....

Dude. That's not even close to what he said! He was saying he should have known better because he'd even told (for instance) Trevor to be careful in Vegas. And talked within the team about being aware whenever you go out.

Who's the "liar" now!?

(This is in no way meant as a defense of Urban Meyer! Just frustrated with people making shit up.)

Uncle Urban isn't even going to make it through one season in the NFL, LOL. Sadly, he'll resurface somewhere a year from now, win multiple NCAA titles and will have the last laugh. So so sad on many fronts.

No need to feign shock or surprise.

Bobby Petrino continued to get head coaching jobs after the Arkansas motorcycle incident and the Atlanta Falcon incident. That is how low the bar is set. The era when the football coach is some exemplar of solid values and character is long over. If Mike Price had won several college football championships before he had his troubles, he probably would have been given a pass.

In a way it is fair. Players are given a lot of slack so long as they can deliver on the field.

They can be lousy, unfaithful, horrible partners/spouses and terrible teammates that will throw you under the bus in a second. The only unforgiveable sin seems to be game fixing. Altering the results of a game seems to be the only line people can't forgive - I know that Paul Hornung and Alex Karras in 1963 both sat out but they were only guilty of betting on games and gambling in general (if I recall right) and associating with dubious characters, and  weren't found fixing the results. Both ended up in the Hall of Fame. Karras, who later achieved success in movies and TV, had a witty comeback upon that episode. Upon returning to action in 1964, Karras once refused when an official asked him to call the pregame coin toss. "I'm sorry, sir," Karras replied. "I'm not permitted to gamble."

Today with officially sponsored gambling apps and such and legal sports betting in most states, that bar will probably be pushed further down.

Didn't the wise Cris Carter say "always find a fall guy!"?  Shame on you Urban.  You were in Columbus long enough to know that.

"That was not me.  It was my twin brother Rural Meyer!"

Urban: "There was a group there that wanted to party, screw around on the dance floor, whatnot.  I only wanted to dry hump that one girl and then leave.  Stupid here stuck around for all the photo opps."

There's multiple video angles of Urban sticking his hand where it shouldn't be on multiple women. He'll somehow snake his way out of this and fake a health issue like he always does

Best case: OSU and Cincinnati both win out and make the playoffs. Cinci wins natty. Fickell goes somewhere else. Cincinnati hires Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs. OSU no longer has access to southern Ohio, Coombs' recruiting territory. Cinci becomes a perennial power. OSU declines as they realize Ryan Day is just Urban Lite.

Or Michigan just beats OSU and wins a National Championship this year.

Depends how much you enjoy the long game.

I will say, he's really good at evading any moral responsibility for what happened.  Like, you can tell he's been able to lie his way through a ton of things in his life and he has no concept of culpability here.

I really wonder why a lot of men get married. The answer I always come back to is societal/religious pressure. I don't think marriage is for everyone, and the end of a marriage is nothing to be ashamed about. If it's not working, end it. But a lot of men seem to want to continue to play the field as it were, and that's ok as long as you're single. I should probably include women in this, too. Some people are just not long for monogamy.

True. What goes on between a husband and wife is their business. I just know of marriages (like my parents') that ended because one party didn't want to be with just one person and that ends up affecting a lot of lives, not just the husband and the wife. Just makes me think society should stop pressuring people to get married. If you want to, great. If not, also great.

WindyCityBlue

Well. Marriage is at an all-time low in the US.  Anecdotally, about 40% of my friends and family over 40 (I'm in my early 40s) are not married.  About half of those (so 20%) never married at all ever.

Society is getting it: marriage is NOT for everyone.  And I think this is a good thing.

With that, Urban Meyer is in a different category than most of us here.

Urban is the master of the non-apology apology. I have to be careful of those people who try to drag me into doing bad things. That isn't me. I apologize to my team for being a distraction. I've told my players to be careful of these bad people, etc.

Seriously did he not see the video of himself before he did the press conference?

So these folks drag me out because I’m a celebrity after spending good quality time with my wife and grandkids and they just forced me to shove my hand up a girls crotch while she did the grind on my lap. I was powerless.

At this point, how can an NFL owner really keep him employed? Maybe the lawyers have to crawl through the contract language to make sure they jettison him correctly, but I can't see how this can fly in the NFL. (Or anywhere else, for that matter.)

And if the team isn't working on firing him, I've gotta believe the League is pushing them in that direction.

i figured out how to get rid of texts more than a year old, now if i could get a hand with this twitter stuff, that'd be great....

I haven't followed this very closely, but what exactly is Meyer accused of? Being a bad husband and acting like someone 25 years younger than he is? Anything worse than what Bill Clinton was guilty of?

I was probably one of the few OSU fans that wanted him fired when the Zach Smith scandal broke. Never realized how sleazy he was before that. I don't view these guys as anything more than glorified gym teachers. They entertain us on the weekend so what? That's why I find worship of coaches weird, especially Alabama fans and building statues of Saban.
