The problem is the need to feel good about completely subjective nonsense such as this.

Bo hasn't coached for Michigan in 30 years.  Meyer is no longer the coach at Ohio State.

Bo was consistent in conference and did well against Ohio State but his national success was sparse to absent.

Bo had zero national championships and went 5-12 in bowl games.

Bo was 11-9-1 against OSU, which is cool but dominant?  No.

Urban Meyer's win percentage was higher, he had three national championships, he went 12-3 in bowls, and he also had great success in SEC.  Meyer also dominated his rivals.

I feel if we are to be honest with ourselves, this ranking is suspect on a good day and wrong every other day.

So we are going to gloat about Bo being ranked ahead of Meyer instead of calling out that Woody Hayes is in the top 10 and Bo is at 21?  That’s the historical comparison, I don’t see how Meyer figures into a comparison to Bo.  Could we agree not to mention Urban on a post title more than twice a week maybe?  They have an 11warriors board for the Meyer posts.

He's a top 10 coach all time IMO. National titles at two different schools in two decades. Undefeated season with mid major. Unless they're taking off field issues into account (which I don't think they are considering Paterno is top 10), I don't see how he is not top 10 or top 20 at worst. JMO

Those titles were all won at powerhouse schools.  Lets see him do that at Vanderbilt or pretty much any school that doesn't allow rampant rule breaking.

“If he wants to be the greatest coach or one of the greatest coaches in college football, to me, he has to go somewhere besides Alabama and win because they’ve always won there at Alabama.”

-Old Ball Coach talking about Saban.  I think it applies just as much to Meyer.

He was only there 2 years, and that program was pretty good before he was hired.  I'd like to see what he could do taking over a tire fire at a place where he can only get a few 4* players.

No doubt he's a great coach, and he built (on Tressel's foundation) OSU into a juggernaut, but I also don't think he's the 2nd coming like some on here do.

That's stupid. He has 3 NCs at 2 different schools while also making Utah relevant, which is still is almost 2 decades later. He's better than Bo and Tressel.

That's unfortunate, considering Meyer's WNR8 is better than Bo's, and he was much better than Bo in bowl games. Sucks to be sniped like that I guess...

Urban is a great coach no doubt but he walked into an amazing situation.  Osu had won the Big 10 five of the last six years before Urban was hired.  They were loaded with talent including a 5 star QB.  He pretty much did what was expected.

Meyer might be the better coach than most of them but this sport values the program builders and definers not the pro style coaches coming in for 5 years to win a few championships before going elsewhere.

“Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

What I really care about, and what I really come to MGoBlog for, is hearing about how a former head coach that resigned under scandal at our biggest and most hated rival is ranked in the annals of coaching lore.

Gag me with a goddamn tire iron.

Fiedling yost is inexplicably underrated in this.  Total bullshit.  The guy is basically responsible for the college football we know and love today.  Without him, Harvard and Yale would still be having their collegial affairs and nobody would be watching.

"(Benny Friedman and Bennie Oosterbaan), along with Yost, brought college football to a new era. They revolutionized the game of football by making the forward pass more than just a desperation play in an era where the pass was just beginning to start its evolution."
