Update to my Stubhub Fail Post from 09/23
Hello All. I received some unexpected good news in regards to Stubhub cancelling my ticket sale last Friday which I posted about, and I feel it is important to share with you.
After receiving minimal help from Stubhub, I wrote to the University Ticket office asking them to intervene on my behalf. Which they did, successfully. Stubhub admitted their error, and agreed to fully compensate for the sale. The University contacted their corporate representative, who noted that the buyer had failed to correct some errors in his purchase which resulted in the sale being cancelled through no fault of my own. Furthermore, the University told me that this has happened with some frequency lately, and that they are aware of "issues".
So, there you have it. I can't thank the representative at the ticket office enough. There was no name attached to the email, but my University has my back. This restores a lot of faith in things for me. I thought you should know this. The Michigan Difference. Go Blue!!

This is basically why I chose to buy tickets for Penn State thru StubHub. They are the official representative of UofM for secondary market tickets. If there is a problem with the ticket you should be able to contact UofM and they resolve it with their chosen partner. If you buy thru a different site that isn't gonna happen.

Glad it worked out.
However, now you have to buy your buddy a wedding gift. :)

And the smile too. That will work.

Wow, I'm actually surprised that worked. Honestly it would never have occurred to me to go through the University ticket office. Thanks for the update.

Yo, how long until blockchain is the standard for ticketing sales and exchanges? Transaction would have never gone through if there was a buyer error in that environment.
probably someone on this board that's doing web3 programming for one of the big companies that manage ticketing already, or one of many startups trying to break into the market.
If there are I'd love to connect and be part of each others' network. I've been learning solidity and creating random DApps for fun for a few months and always on the lookout for people to learn more from!

Sorry, just saying the word "blockchain" does not magically make software errors go away.

I didn't say software errors went away. I said the transaction wouldn't go through. And i guess it didn't go through for our man here, but that wasn't software error it was user error (the buyer in this case).
On blockchain, since everything is decentralized and transparent all of the information for our user showing why there was an error would be available to him immediately without all of the customer service headaches. It should just show up as a transaction error with a very specific detailed description on a well built application.

I bought really really good seats for the BIG championship. I put in info and when it went through it came back and said “sorry seat unavailable” so I bout 2 more REALLY good seats. Looked at my account 2 days before to sell my tickets cause whole family got Covid and noticed they gave me both sets and CHARGED me for both sets. I called them and they saw the purchases were less then 30 seconds apart and saw where I got the error message explaining they would refund me for the original set bought. I asked 3 times “this is being recorded correct?” They assured me it was so I said 3 times I want to hear you say you are refunding me. Fast forward a few weeks and I hadn’t been refunded. Called them and the guy said they couldn’t refund me. So like a coach I said “check the tape” 7 days later I got my money. Point is with any site get it on record or in writing or they can tell you they promise you anything but it don’t mean Jack

Honestly, in that kind of situation I would just go to my credit card company and dispute the charge. Let them fight with StubHub or whoever, instead of me wasting my time. Especially something like two transactions so close together, where it's easy to say the company screwed up.

Glad you were able to get that resolved.

Great news, glad it worked out for you OP. Like another commenter I would never have thought to ask the U-M ticket office to intervene on my behalf and wouldn't have expected them to do so. Partially based on your original post the other day--but more so b/c Stubhub's fees are crazy high--I chose to buy tickets for this weekend's game on MGoBlog sponsor site TicketIQ. I fully expect the transaction and transfer of tickets to go fine...but in case it doesn't does anyone think Brian, Seth and the MGB crew will fight for my right to party?!? Go Blue!

Now granted, I don't know what StubHub's buyer fees are, but having just sold an extra ticket for the Maryland game, I did a double take when I saw the minimum TicketIQ price in the game preview post was over double what the cheapest seats were going for on Stubhub. I know StubHub's fees are high, but they can't be that high to double the cost of the ticket (right?). Not really the impression you want to make to convince me to go with a company I've otherwise never heard of...
