I completely agree. This ranking shows that committee is giving Michigan a clear chance to make the playoffs. We have a hard road ahead of us but assuming OSU beats MSU, if we win out, I believe we will be in. A lot of things can and will change by then but this team should be energized by this ranking. Then again, these rankings really have been meaningless in the past because in the end, OSU has been able to jump two spots in the last week even with the two teams in front of them winning.

Yeah, crazy thing about this ranking, Michigan probably doesn't even need to win the division.  In fact, they might be more likely to go to CFP, if there is a three way tie as opposed to MSU losing twice.

If there's a three way tie, Michigan would almost certainly be the highest ranking of the three, likely at least 3rd in CFP (assuming OU and Oregon lose at least once).  At that point Michigan is probably more likely to make the CFP by sitting at home the way OSU did in 2016 and Alabama in in I think 2018 (?) than if MSU loses another game which would then put Michigan in the position of needing to win another game.

I'd still rather win the conference, but if MSU doesn't lose this weekend, Michigan probably still has a good chance of making it by winning out.

The Big Ten owes Michigan nothing.  The entitlement is what will continually hold you back.  Maybe your D coordinator owes the team an apology for his ridiculous sub patterns that kept getting penalized?  Maybe Corum owes the team an apology for missing an easy catch that had a strong chance of being a long TD?  Maybe Macnamara owes the team an apology for his overthrow on the left sideline fade that would have won the game on the second to last series?   Maybe JJ owes the team an apology for his fumbles?  Maybe Michigan owes MSU a thank you for botching the scoop and score on the prior Michigan fumble?

I can go on all day.

It's true anything can happen.  First fumble of the year for Haskins... Interception bounces off Dax's chest and into Olave's hands... Ref calls the rarely utilized defensive holding on the d-line against Hutchinson after he gets tackled to the ground... Ball spotted 2 yards from where the player went down, in the opposite direction we want of course. The possibilities are endless.

Top 10

1. UGA

2. Bama

3. MSU

4. Oregon

5. OSU

6. Cinci

7. Michigan

8. OU

9. Wake Forest

10. ND

Couple takeaways about this committee:

1. they valued head to head which I like

2. they basically did not care about bad losses and weighed good wins FAR more heavily, which feels like a throw-back to committees a few years ago.  See: Oregon, Miss St., Minn. etc.

You better hope Purdue doesn't tackle Walker lll well. And that Purdue's three headed QB doesn't do to States defense what it did to Iowa's defense, which is much better than States. State loses to Purdue, and Ohio St and Penn St will be smelling blood in the water.
