Unfortunate News: Stephen Spanellis to transfer per 24/7

As the title states. Not good news considering he was in line for a starting guard position next year, possibly center if Cesar leaves.

Already on the board, just turns this into another bitch fest

Name checks out = Fake News (we aren't back)

I have to admit...I get a lot of pleasure out of the comedy that ensues on this board when people post threads of day old news here.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:06 PM ^
Yea never understood why people care about that let alone feel the need to post a response about it as some sort of way to tamp that down and police the board. Yet the truly inane threads and responses of endless puns don't seem to bother these same people.

Why you have to rub salt in the wound? Next thing you will me is Chris Partridge is leaving. Don't be so cruel!
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:56 AM ^
I hope you're not too attached to Keith Jackson.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:12 AM ^
He is probably leaving because he wasn't going to start next year. He would have to be granted a 5th year, and maybe he wasn't offered it.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
He was the first guy off the bench at both guard spots. We’re losing both starting guards. Meaning he would have to be passed up by two guys in order to not start.
It’s possible the staff would prefer a young guy and gave him a firm handshake. But there’s no way of knowing at this stage whether he would start or not. If he was here, in all likelihood he’d start.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
Given he's leaving, I'm guessing he's been passed up by 2 guys. It's only logical.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:54 AM ^
Agree. IIRC he was a very intelligent young man who sounded like the type who was technically sound and heady enough to outplay his size/strength/ranking quite a bit but obviously wasn't able to unseat Bredeson/Ruiz/Onwenu. We heard that he was next man up the last two years. In that two years we've hauled in a lot of really talented O-Line prospects, many of whom were called college-ready day one. It's probably not a stretch to say that the heady, try-hard guy may have missed his window and the uber-talented dudes are making strides to pass him.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:39 PM ^
I hope this means that Ruiz is staying. Perhaps he really wants to play center.
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
I'd like that, but I'd be surprised if he stays. Ruiz may have underperformed a little this year, but you don't find guys that big who are that agile and that smart that often. He'll play a long time in the NFL assuming he stays healthy (imho).

I fart in your general direction.

I make castanets out of your testicles. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:16 AM ^
Leaving again won't help his chances in the depth chart.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
Chris Partridge has entered the portal
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:21 AM ^
Old news AND a bad take. Doubtful Harbaugh would have given him a 5th year. Better to use the scholarship on a hopeful recruit instead of a for sure backup. That's just the way this game is played now.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:23 PM ^
Yeah because we've never had to use backup linemen...
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
Doubtful for a guy who could've been a starter next year? Or the top interior lineman reserve at LG, C and RG?
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
Speaking of bad takes...
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^
Didn't see many upperclassmen with eligibility left on the field yesterday that should leave.
There was a chance to upgrade status for the NFL. Who improved? Nordin possiblity. Zero skill players.

Unfortunate news: Keith Jackson died.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:53 AM ^
I saw, they had him in Carbonite outside the stadium.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Thoughts and prayers, he was too young, this hits close to home, etc.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
We knew this would happen last Summer!
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:10 PM ^
I don’t think he was lined up to play much this fall, OP.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
Does Keith Jackson know we landed on the moon?
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
Keith either doesn't know (any longer)...OR...knows if the entire thing was a total fraud.
/s?
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
Are the MODs checking out or what? The repeat posts and length of time they’ve managed to stay up lately is ridiculous.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:05 PM ^
User name does not check out. This was definitely a duck.
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
Makes NO SENSE hes about to become a starter....could be a very bad decision on his part but good luck to him
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
or .... maybe he is not tracking toward the NFL and prefers to get another free year of education at a grad school of his choice. Stanford, etc.
January 2nd, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
You don’t say...
How’s Keith Jackson doing these days??
