UM number 2 in coaches poll
Only 3 first place votes. UGA, UM, TCU, USC
November 27th, 2022 at 1:15 PM ^
Well, this sort of thing is going to happen when your strength of schedule is negatively impacted by weaker teams like UConn, Hawaii. Colorado State and Ohio State.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
Agreed. We should have scheduled powerhouses like ULM, Utah State, and Austin Peay.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
I know this is sarcasm, but Michigan beat all contenders, slaughtered two top 8 teams, and will have played the top 3 teams in the Big10 west.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
On a plus note, I did find out who Austin Peay is some time back courtesy of a couple of helpful blogizens.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
All we hear about is Michigan's weak OOC, blah blah blah but we never hear boo about Alabama's equally weak OOC. F'ing hypocrites.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
You forgot about Sparty.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Everyone has already forgotten about sparty. They're not worth remembering
November 27th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
I see what you did there the last team mentioned.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
I laugh out loud.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:15 PM ^
Everybody thought we'd lose to OSU.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
Good. We can be #1 after we kick the shit out of Purdue, the Frogs and the Dawgs.
Go Blue!!!
November 27th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
This top 4 would be the most exciting playoffs by far.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
I'm so pumped about it
November 27th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
It's so nice not to see Alabama in this picture.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:52 PM ^
...or Clemson
...or Ohio State
November 27th, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
Post on 11 Warriors saying that NIL is hurting OSU. I think OSU, Clemson and Bama will not be as dominant now that other teams can pay too.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
OSU at 5...which pretty much locks out Alabama, if the playoff committee sees it the same way
November 27th, 2022 at 1:31 PM ^
People like Heather Dinich, who interact with the committee on a regular basis, have said they will pick the team they believe is best. Not sure anyone can definitively say that they see OSU as better than Bama even if the coaches do (for now). They apparently consider theoretical head to head matchups and after seeing OSU get bushwhacked they very well could take Bama. Without a conference championship is 11-1 that much better than 10-2? Especially considering how weak the Big Ten has been this year outside of the top 3. Bama is not out of it yet.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
F this: I know the BIG has three teams. How many does the SEC have? Four? Give me a break. I think an average Wisconsin team has a shot at the SEC west #2 spot each year. See Arkansas, ole miss, Mississippi, Texas AM, Missouri. You afraid to play any of those games? East: UT and UGA look pretty good. UK, vandy, s Carolina Florida? I’ll trade sparty for any SEC team save UGA, UT, bama ( looking at you chip Kelly)
November 27th, 2022 at 2:45 PM ^
Bama did not have any good wins this year. Their best win is Ole Miss? Texas? They had 3 close wins including Texas A&M. But their losses were close to LSU and TN.
OSU had two decent wins, but ND shit the bed and PSU has not won against anybody good. OSU was not a match for UM.
I can see committee favoring Bama over OSU or the other way around.
But, it would not surprise me if they put USC over OSU if USC lose in the conference championship game as OSU does not play in one, especially if USC loses a close one. Same goes for TCU.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:18 PM ^
Only 3 1st place votes … Do these coaches not watch the games ?
November 27th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
Of course not, they're coaching their own teams.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
2 first place votes last week so to answer your question, no.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:31 PM ^
Should be called Sports Information Director poll.
November 27th, 2022 at 7:05 PM ^
I'm sure the only reason Michigan didnt jump to #1 after that beat down is UGA are the defending champs and everyoe remembers how they handled Michigan last year.
Its fine though. Just beat Purdue and whoever they put at #3.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:18 PM ^
And somehow OSU is 5, and just behind USC at 4, after getting dog-walked at home. Unreal.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
Would you rather a 2-loss SEC team be sitting at 5?
November 27th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
Yes. OSU backing into the playoffs would be an absolute nightmare. If Michigan is IN the committee can show all the SEC bias they want.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
Nightmare? They are frightened at 11 warriors they could get in and get curb stomped by Georgia.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
Well...that effectively locks out 2-loss teams so...My sense is that Georgia, Michigan, TCU are in with the 4th spot going to USC or Ohio State
November 27th, 2022 at 1:23 PM ^
And somehow OSU is 5, and just behind USC at 4, after getting dog-walked at home. Unreal.
+1 for “dog-walked.” Laughed hard.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:02 PM ^
Let’s not kink shame!
/s it was a funny term.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
Who would you put ahead of them at 5?
November 27th, 2022 at 1:36 PM ^
thought the same thing but then you go down the list and realize there's no one else. Set the top 4 now. No reason to wait for the championship games.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
If we lost yesterday by 3 we would have dropped behind Bama. Oh well, win out and problem solved.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
We’ve got the whole country right where we want them…
November 27th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
And we have OSU by the nuts.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:16 PM ^
The team lopped those nuts right off and put them in a jar under the sink.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
UGA, TCU and USC would have struggled mightily vs. the Big Ten West gauntlet.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
Perfect. Take on TCU in Scottsdale and let USC or OSU travel to Atlanta to play Georgia
November 27th, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
Underrated. GA best win at home. UM best win on road. Similar margins.
DISRESPEKT.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Michigan is in a good spot. LSU and ND losing helped the buckeyes but who cares about them? Let's keep winning. Michigan controls its own destiny.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
Wait, Notre Dame winning would have helped OSU even more right? Give USC 2 losses?
November 27th, 2022 at 2:42 PM ^
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. It’s not like ND was going to jump ahead of OSU. The Bucks need USC to lose, it really just comes down to those two teams for the #4 spot.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Michigan gets JOBBED with only 3 1st place votes after destroying the #2 team on their home field.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
I know this is just rhetoric. But hard to comprehend how UGA has something that shows they’re better than beating the #2 in the country l, in their house… not only 45-23 but 29-3 in the 2nd half, holding them to 19 on the ground.
what in UGA’s resume shows that they’ve done better than that.
Apparently style points, last years wins and opponent strength is only applied when you’re the luster of CFP and or in the SEC
MERP
November 27th, 2022 at 2:43 PM ^
I’m fine with it. I like our odds against TCU.
November 27th, 2022 at 3:03 PM ^
I like how that sets up for the B1G in bowl games. UofM should be favored over TCU, OSU should be favored over Washington in the Rose Bowl. Assuming Bama goes to the Sugar Bowl, that probably leaves PSU as a favorite over Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl, or over Clemson in the Orange Bowl, right?
November 27th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
Gosh, whatever happened to Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma and Notre Dame?
