Twitter beef between incoming Michigan and OSU OL recruits
We all love a spicy offseason drama. Seems like this one started with an On3 recruiting guy asking which four-man OL class is better between Michigan and OSU. Ian Moore (2024 4* OL from Indiana) responded thusly:
Cmon now. Hate to start beef but two of those dudes are salty that they didn’t get OSU offers and the other two just didn’t get them. I’ve been to camps with everybody on that list except Marc (Marc’s a dog though) and the Blake kid and I can tell you the Bucks are on top https://t.co/U4cwtWy081

Luke Hamilton and Ben Roebuck responded in kind...
Lemme sit back and grab some popcorn because this is comical😂😂. If you take rankings out the picture @marcnavejr is the best o line commit y’all got. @NateBige let’s get the “you didn’t even have an offer, they didn’t even want you” comments going https://t.co/kDFPsfNLK5

Always comes down to not having that offer. Michigan’s got the better offensive line and better coaches. Seems like I wasn’t missing out on much… Go blue〽️ https://t.co/FwISSFoutN

Offers or not, one O-line has two straight Joe Moore awards and absolutely manhandled the other team two years in a row. The other is Ohio State.
It's kinda weird but that run went thru a few phases
2004-2007 - ah well we lose some but we're not behind
2008-2010 - we suck
2011 ZOMG HOKE DENARD
2012-13 - ah well we lose some, Hoke is what he is
2014-15 better times are coming
2016-17 we have caught them but the universe is a cruel place
2018-2020 we just aren't as good
like, right before 2021 yea I thought we could never beat them. And when Rod was in charge, the same. But most other times during that run, I thought we were going to get them soon! Ah/ugh, memories
If Ohio are in fact diluting themselves it would serve them well to always have a cooler handy.

One thing I've noticed about this beef and past interactions is that it's always the OSU commits who throw shots first. It's always just the Michigan guys interacting with each other or recruiting uncommitted guys, then the OSU guys come out of nowhere and throw shots at Michigan or Michigan commits. They love to throw shots a Roebuck specifically for not having an OSU offer. Funny thing is that Ian Moore doesn't have a Michigan offer.
These OSU commits will definitely fit in at OSU though talking a lot of shit then proving it on the field

If OSU is always getting the best linemen, isn’t it odd that they never seem to have the better line?
I guess I'll chime in here to avoid the knee-jerk downvotes that will come at the top, but. . .
OSU's line is very good and has been. Their run blocking is good and their pass blocking is amazing. Michigan couldn't get much on them in ways of pass rush last year, and OSU has been putting out much higher draft picks than Michigan at OL the past several years.
Of course, Michigan does have the better unit, and has the past two years. No question. But this is basically the A+ student trashing the A student.
Michigan had zero pass rush against anyone with a pulse last year. What happened the year before when we had edge rushers and OSU still supposedly had an all world pas blocking line? I remember--OSU got embarrassed.
I am just a fan, not an o-line expert, but is it really accurate to say that OSU's run blocking is good currently? My impression is that they seem to be excellent pass protectors, but that the run blocking has been sub-par, at least in 2022:
- Their inability to convert short yardage situations on the ground was a key element of Michigan's successful defensive game plan in Columbus
- Their game against Northwestern where they basically had to run the ball due to weather and got outgained by Northwestern on the ground
Maybe I am extrapolating too much off limited data, but my impression is that Ohio State did not have a good run blocking line in 2022

I have found it pretty odd that last year and this year they'll have probably 3 or 4 OL go in the first 3 rounds and probably at least one 1st rounder off their last couple lines and we'll have maybe 1 or 2 (Olu and Zinter).
I think eventually it'll start translating into higher round picks, but it's impressive that unit has been so good even with less individual talent.
Hmm... I'm not sure which Oline is better. The one that let Stroud get put on his ass several times or the one thats won the JM award two years straight and ran right through the other teams defense....
OSU has crazy talent and highly ranked prospects at seemingly every position. For better or for worse that puts them in the unenviable position of either getting those guys to produce at exactly that projected level or, essentially, disappointing. Some position groups they consistently hit on - WR is a great example.
Michigan gets good to occasionally great talent at most positions and a track record under Harbaugh of developing guys beyond their rankings.
Hard to know who is better at the time they are prospects. But one of these schools has won the last two games and the last two Joe Moore Awards and the other emphatically hasn't. If you asked me to bet my lunch money, I know who I'm putting it on.
Ian Moore "They are just salty they didn't get offered"
Also Ian Moore - not offered by U of M's back to back Joe Moore winning OL coach.
42-27.
45-23.
Better in the snow, better in the sun. Hail to the Victors!!
They are 120 minutes away from finally hanging that 100 on us.
If that two year trend line continues, it could be longer than 120 minutes…
Yawn... See you in November hear its going to be cold with a touch of flu bug going around. Don't wakey on third and assume you hit a triple to get there!
I'm not a fan of any "trash" or "spicy" talk.
What I liked was when a buckeye ripped off a wolverines helmet in the Big House 2 years ago and 3 Michigan lineman come running over (committing no personal fouls) and basically told the guy
"Buh bye" & won the game.
Then, when the "whole GD state of ohio was against Michigan in cbus, they won again.
That's the kinda lineman we need.
Go Blue.
Since they cancelled my soap opera stories on the teevee I've substituted with crootin' stories. Just as catty and the villain always has a beard.
The arrogance of the mindset that OSU offer = better player is indicative of why their players have gone soft
Alliterative headline version of story
"Beefy Buckeye boys bring weak butthurt beef to (Go) Blue's better beefy boys", or something like that.
There is only one way to settle this and that will be when they meet in a few years. We'll see whose O Line shines with what recruits.
Gooooooooood.
Its nice that we are head-to-head with those a-holes again. For years we really weren't even in the picture. Arguing with Illinois, MSU, and other dingleberries.
The fact they are chirping tells us all we need to know.
Although, I always find their chirping disingenuous because they also know the unrelenting hardships of a more subdued period of football, just a different stretch of years than Michigan. You would think they would be able to handle the odd loss, but it seems to absolutely frazzle them. It's rather amusing really, now that we're both good at the same time, to see them shit at the mere whiff of adversity in a game.
As long as osu can teach them how to hold d-ends
@RemindmeNov2026 IanMoore was just manhandled by multiple Michigan D ends (again)
Yawn. I guess we’ll find out won’t we.
Watch your step while you’re at the Big House kiddo, you might trip over Petit-Frere…seeing how his ass is still planted at the 30 yard line courtesy of #97.
Speaking of Beef, what does everyone think about that Netflix series?
I'm four episodes in. So far it is pretty genius though I'm not sure where it is going.
Even though the characters themselves have extreme/caricature personalities, it gets across slices of Korean-American life and culture really well. It's strange to see part of my everyday childhood/young adulthood environment be just a normal backdrop of a show.
I don't really go to Wendy's. Did they ever find the beef? I know they were looking for it.
ate a burger there once … not sure it was beef
Imagine thinking a OSU offer says more than a offer from a staff with back to back OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE YEAR AWARDS.
While Joe Moore award is a great unit accomplishments, it really needs to start translating into high NFL draft pick$ as well for recruits to see.
The nature of the game - OL v DL, means these two units wouldn’t face off against each other. But, wouldn’t it be fun if they could.. just for a few series…
As others have pointed out, Michigan seems to be “blue collar”, while “THE” Buckeyes may have a sense of entitlement.
The Wolverine line plays with a bit of nasty, and - that’s a good thing.
This Ian Moore kid talking about not getting offers doesn't appear, and correct me if I'm wrong, to have gotten an offer from Michigan. He thinks an osu offer means more? That's laughable. You didn't get an offer from the team that has produced the best o-line in back to back seasons. I think that says more about you then it does aboit the guys that didn't get an osu offer.

One other general thought about the OL - and, why Michigan's performance recently is so noticeable.
The OL, IMO, is the most complex unit on the field. It really reflects teamwork and working together - communicating, being knowledgeable, adjusting, and executing.
What seems to me might be the following scenario. Other teams may recruit "higher level talent", but - over the past two seasons, no OL has played better as a unit, or team - than Michigan's has. SO - let other teams recruit whoever they will - and, let Michigan continue to play as a team with a culture that supports everyone's efforts.
Go Blue!

There's a LOT of beef on our O'line.....
