At Iowa's hands had Michigan beaten Iowa last year.

Kinnick is a cursed place.

To win out the Big 10 championship and finish undefeated, a future Michigan team will probably need both Iowa and Ohio State games at home.

They save their best for Big Ten play.

Ferentz has lost to Western twice, Central once, Northern Illinois once and North Dakota State ALL at Kinnick.  He's also lost to some really bad Iowa State teams.  (Yes, that's a rivalry game but a 10 loss Iowa State team won at Kinnick just a couple years ago.)   That's why he's been on the hot seat about four different times.  But then Big Ten play comes and they magically come to life for some reason.

Our game there last year was bizarre.  I expected them to put up a fight but I did NOT expect their defense to play as well as it did.  But that game also felt like a Notre Dame game during the Lou Holtz years, where every single lucky and fluke like bounce went their way, starting with that stupid ass punt that perfectly came to rest at the 1 yard line.  That kind of misfortune continued through the rest of the game.

the 2015 game with MSU and last week, I will believe that Michigan State is not going to improbably win on a last second field goal in shitty weather when I actually see it.  Until I see otherwise, I am going to assume that is what is going to happen.

How in the world is msu 7-2? I just don’t get it. 3-9 last year and a terrible offseason and yet somehow they are winning games. I really don’t even think they are all that good. It just seems like everything has fallen into place for them. As soon as I saw that psu had to play M, osu and then msu last I knew msu would have a shot. Now they get osu and the hen finish the season against Maryland and Rutgers. Just unbelievable.

Honestly, it's comments like this that keep me coming back to this blog, even when it feels like Lord of the Flies.

Also - I dig your handle. I'm a big Dead Head...Terrapin blasts through our speakers pretty much every day!

occured to me about 10 minutes after the Penn State game ended - Michigan State is pretty good.  That is how they are 7-2.  I was firmly rooted in the crowd that believed they were going to curl up and die after last year.  I hate Michigan State with a passion, but I am done making any proclomations about them, their days are numbers, they a fading program, etc.  Once again, and for the last time, they have proven me wrong.  I think they are in a bit of trouble this Saturday with OSU on a bounce back week, but what they have done this year has impressed me and it pains me to say that.

Mark Dantonio is a great coach, end of story. They are able to constantly win games against the other contenders of the B1G East Crown.

Just give them credit where credit is due and move on. We blew our chance at being smug towards them this season. They control their destiny while we pray both MSU and PSU lose games.

They hosted Iowa the week after a huge emotional loss to PSU.

They hosted IU a week after a huge emotional loss to us.

They hosted PSU a week after PSU finished up two emotional games against us and OSU.

Basically, they're hosting teams after they have already gone through a huge emotional game or stretch of games.  Remember that ND had a game to get healthy after the Georgia loss.

They won't be as lucky this weekend because they are playing at OSU and I have a feeling the Buckeyes will be focused and have the emotional advantage after being embarrassed on national television.

Unless MSU wins and a Ohio St. commenter will complain that they had to play MSU after a huge emotional loss to Iowa. I mean at some point you can look at the results and realize MSU has the best run defense (statistically) in the B1G, they do a good job shortening the game, and have above avg (for the conference) QB play.

Remember when MSU lost to Northwestern in an emotionally draining OT game that would mean the beginning of the 3 game losing streak because they have no shot vs. PSU/OSU? Emotion is on both sides every week and the effects it has on the game isn't clear until after that game.

OSU is playing MSU at home.  It's easier to bounce back from a tough loss in front the home crowd.  Also, there's no way OSU loses on Saturday.  They're at home against a team that match up well against.  Plus, they're somehow sitting at #11, so they're only a few upsets away from being in the Top 4 if they win out (which I doubt they will do).  They will play a good game.

MSU will get ahead 7-0 when the OSU punter gets turned around on a bad snap and inadvertently scores on himself. Then the skies will open into a monsoon and an earthquake tilts the field surface so that Ohio State has to play the rest of the game uphill. They will get the "let the kids play ball" officiating crew that will ignore the multiple spearing, targeting, and chop block penalties as Mork Dantonio gets two more points just for scowling. MSU wins 9-5.

They should have lost to iu too. They were down 9-3 with like 7 left in the game and could not move the ball. Then they got one of the worst ip called on IU that I have seen this year. I think it extended the drive, not completely positive. But I am positive it jumped started the offense and they scored a few plays later. Then scored again with like 2 to go to make it look better.

So curious to see how well we play against Wiscy. Ohio State is still a scary team in my opinion. I watched how Minnesota, at times, looked like they were going to gash us with that mobile QB. Ohio State is going to try and do exactly what Penn Sate did to us, except they don't have near the defense Penn State has. If we beat Wisconsin, and throw the ball well, We have a chance to beat OSU and enter a great bowl game this year.

I refuse to acknowledge any OSU fan who thinks he/she has a right to be angry. They have no idea what true football horror is.

Easily the most spoiled fanbase in the entire country. They lose one of their alltime great coaches and then one of THE all-time great coaches falls into their lap as he just happens to be on a one-year sabbatical. Not once have they ever had a string of true down years. Of mediocrity. Of irrelevance. 2011 was an anomaly among decades of otherwise great to elite football for them. Every other blueblood program has endured several years, or even a decade, of mediocrity. Everyone except them. Their down years are 10-2 or 11-1.

If they ever went through one year of what Michigan went through during RichRod's whole tenure, or during the latter half of Hoke's time here, Columbus would be engulfed in riots and burned to the ground, General Sherman style.

Ohio State and Urban Meyer had no business losing this football game.

I think a lot of people are underestimating just how loaded the Buckeyes are compared to Iowa and other mid-level BIG10 programs.

Since Meyer's arrival, here are the 247 Recruiting Class Rankings for Ohio State:

2012 - 5th

2013 - 2nd

2014 - 3rd

2015 - 7th

2016 - 4th

2017 - thus far, class is already at 21 players, ranked 2nd behind Alabama

So no, in no normal universe will you observe Urban Meyer losing to a Kirk Ferentz-coached and unranked Iowa team by 31 points.

Ohio State fans are correct.  The Buckeyes have the best college football coach and the best recruiting classes, so there are no excuses. Especially after getting beaten by Oklahoma earlier in the year at home.

TWIS has fallen off a cliff. It feels like an in-house safety newsletter cribbed together by an intern from the accounting department. Just painful.

Spencer Hall's column was prettydarn good, though.

"Playing an underdog Iowa and losing is supposed to be like being crushed to death by a refrigerator. It’s your fault for trying to move it alone."

The guy make 8-9 mistakes a game. This has gone on all year. Mistaken names and incorrect numbers are the most common gaffes. I think he should be replaced before next year.

TWIS itself has been up and down or late, but I have to laugh at Texas A&M fans who have gotten to the point where they want to get rid of the PA announcer as well as Kevin Sumlin. There's some saltiness indeed.
