He's a big ND homer.
Re: Kugler. Services don't usually rate Centers as high as the prototypical LT or road-grading Gs. I'm more surprised that Scout rated him as a 5* than Lemming leaving him off his top-100.

Scout and 247 have Kugler as an offensive gaurd, and Rivals ranks him as an OT. Scout and Rivals number one gaurds were both five stars last year.

It's legit. Tom Lemming does these rankings, and despite his biases, he's been doing this longer than anyone else.
The nice thing is that there are lots of data in recruiting rankings, which is why doing some sort of aggregate, like Ace does in our Big Ten Recruiting Rankings or that other posters have built for individual recruits, is the best way. For example, if you look at the top 100 for Rivals, Scout, MaxPreps, ESPN and 24/7, it's hard to tell which list is better than any other, but if you get a bit of a consensus, you're in better shape.

Only six!...I told you guys Hoke should have held out for only the elite talent.

Also of note:
EJ Levenberry 22
Henry Poggi 25
Laquon Treadwell 30
Kendall Fuller 42
Anyone else see someone I missed?

Cravins

Good catch. Cravens is number 5
Besides the historical evidence, this is how I know Lemming is off:
EJ Levenberry - 22
Jaylon Smith - 35
What's shocking is that Smith has ND in his top 2 and Lemming still didn't rank him higher.

Maybe it's OK?

Two 5* TEs? Wow.

Dymonte apparently isn't good anymore. I'm sad.

One trend that I've noticed in the rankings this time of year is that the really early commitment guys don't get rated as high, a lot of times because the offers don't roll in as fast and because their not active in camps like the rising prospects. I wouldn't worry about Dymonte. Anyone who looks at his tape can see a top 100 guy, whether one "expert" puts him there or not.
Agree completely with this. There are only two safeties that I think are a definite level above Thomas and that's Cravens and Bell.
These sites clearly have to sell subscriptions, and that is a very difficult thing to do if the whole top 100 is committed to (or in the process of committing to) Michigan. But in reality, I feel like we see this every year: aside from the truly elite players, these services slide kids up and down with almost zero rational basis for doing so.

...of this great article that shows what a tool Lemming is.

Of surprise to no one, Bo loathed the man.

That article was a little tl;dr. Would anyone care to summarize?
April 10th, 2012 at 12:29 PM ^
Tom Lemming has way too much power.
[Edit] and noblesse oblige, isn't exactly his motto.
April 10th, 2012 at 12:32 PM ^
Now that recruiting has gotten so big and there are so many competitors to Lemming (most of which have passed him, actually) I doubt he has the power he used to. Lemming used to be The Guy in football recruiting, now he's kind of an after thought compared to Rivals, Scout, even 24/7 and ESPN.

I agree, the article is seven years old and a lot has changed. I was just giving the tl;dr guy a summary of the article.
, Batman.
After Treadwell, Isaac, Poggi, and Levenberry commit, we'll have five 5-star players to go along with Shane.
has never met a ND recruit he didn't like. He can't help himself.
