Today's Schedule of Games
So, how was your week? Um, yeah. When I said that I wanted Michigan to be the center of the entire college football universe, I should have been more specific.
Anyhoo . . . there are games to be played. It’s a bye week for Michigan, but there are still a number of games today that could have an impact on our season.
Here are some of today’s highlights:
At Noon on CBS: Indiana at #10 Penn State. This is the first game where Michigan and Penn State share a common opponent. So it will be interesting to see how PSU matches up against Indiana. But, I’m not sure how much we will learn. Drew Allar at home against Indiana won’t be the same as Drew Allar in Columbus against Ohio State. Penn State will win big over Indiana (but not as big as Michigan won over Indiana).
Also at Noon on FOX: #6 Oklahoma at Kansas. Oklahoma looked like crap against UCF. But don’t be fooled. That was coming off a bye week, after a big win against Texas. They aren’t really as bad as they looked. They may still be overrated (IMO) as a top 6 team, but they are plenty good enough to overcome Kansas, which they will do today.
In the Afternoon at 3:30 PM on CBS: #1 Georgia at Florida. They are no longer allowed to call it “The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”. That name was banned in 2006 because it was deemed to be an endorsement of drinking too much alcohol among college students. And it worked perfectly, no college student ever drank alcohol in excess ever again. Just kidding, IT MADE NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. So, I’m unilaterally bringing the name back. Bite me. This year’s version of The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will see Florida put a scare in Georgia, but then Georgia will shift into that extra gear that we all know they’ve been hiding, and pull out the win.
Also at 3:30 PM on FOX: #8 Oregon at #13 Utah. Oregon may be the most complete team in the nation, next to Michigan. Utah is a perpetually underrated team, and that’s true again this year. Utah should be able to go toe to toe with Oregon for a while. But at the end of the day, they are still essentially Oregon-lite. It won’t be enough, and Oregon will win to stay alive in the Pac12 race.
Also at 3:30 PM on ESPN: #20 Duke at #18 Louisville. No, this isn’t a Final Four preview. This is an honest-to-goodness American college football game preview. Both teams are in the running to face off against (likely FSU) for the title in the now-divisionless ACC. Duke QB Riley Leonard’s status still appears to be iffy, so I’ll go with Louisville in this one.
In the Evening at 7:00 PM on ESPN: #21 Tennessee at Kentucky. Another chance for Kentucky to announce on a national stage that they have finally arrived in the SEC. AND WE REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME. But alas, Tennessee wasn’t paying attention, and missed the announcement. They will take care of Kentucky, just like we all knew they would. Kentucky is the SEC team of the future. And always will be.
At 7:30 PM on NBC: #3 Ohio State at Wisconsin. I’m saying there’s a chance. Wisconsin on the road at night is a tough place to play. Ohio State is coming of a big, draining win over Penn State. It’s the kind of game that has upset written all over it. It will look that way for about 3 quarters . . . and then Marvin Harrison will emerge and that will be that. Somebody double-cover that guy. Thx.
Finally, your Pac-12 After Dark Special - meaningless crazy football just for the fun of it:
At 10:30 PM on ESPN: #11 Oregon State at Arizona. Arizona may be most Pac-12 After Dark Special-est of all the Pac12 teams. You don’t ever want to find yourself facing an underdog Arizona, on the road, late at night, in a Pac-12 After Dark Special game. Weird ju ju happens down there. It will happen again, and Arizona will take out #11 Oregon State.

I know it's the rule but I dislike how DPI gets called when two guys trip on each other.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Yikes, Kevin Wilson getting vaporized by SMU
October 28th, 2023 at 1:28 PM ^
A slant from the 6 short of the goal line?
October 28th, 2023 at 1:28 PM ^
It would be hilarious if Indiana stonewalls PSU here on the goal line. They won't but man would I enjoy that.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
It's funny how the media keeps repeating the false Penn State has a really good run game narrative. They have literally struggled to run the ball against any defense with a pulse.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
Five opportunities later, Penn State finally scores.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
It's interesting - PSU is running the ball a ton on this drive because they don't seem like they want to throw it, which is different than UM which is that they're just stubborn about running the ball.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:30 PM ^
I really dislike when coaches hold up 1 finger in an obvious extra point situation simply to look like they are doing something smart.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
That’s Frames leading from the top.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
PSU sucksssss
October 28th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Indiana more explosive than Ohio state vs Penn state . I am not worried with either Osu or Penn state
October 28th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
I'm 0% worried about PSU. That offense is a joke. OSU, I'm maybe 20% worried about? They're pretty much limited to arm punts to MHJR, but it's conceivable (however unlikely) they could build a win out of that.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Rooting for Indiana football is a tough gig. Tiring even for a couple hours
October 28th, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
SMU up 52-3 on Kevin Wilson with 4 minutes left before half
October 28th, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
Penn State owes the refs for some points this half.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:35 PM ^
Probably not a great sign when your PA is playing "Livin' on a Prayer" just before halftime against Indiana.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Speaking of, our DJ had better play "Signs" by Five Man Electrical Band at every home game now and forever.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
Has the word "targeting" been banished from referees' vocabulary?
October 28th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
That's a weak late hit call.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
What a dumb ass throw by IU.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Well, it was fun while it lasted, Indiana.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Really bad decision. This is why you are Indiana.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Seems like I've heard that more than a few times today
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Reminds me of that 1st quarter vs Indiana before we, er, adjusted.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
Except that we're 30 minutes in - and neither of IU's TDs came on a trick play.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Indiana Indianas. What a terrible choice.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
IU QB forgot that there are 11 other players on the field.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
PSU is going to win this game but it's absolutely because IU is making dumb mistakes moreso than PSU is playing well. It's been 2 killer TOs, some dubious penalties that kept drives alive, poor 3rd-down play, etc.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Indiana can’t help but be Indiana. I’m not concerned with Penn St
October 28th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
I'm a lot less concerned about Maryland too
October 28th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Frames burns 10 seconds and then calls time out.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
I really don’t understand why coaches let 8-10 seconds run off when they have ample timeouts and then they take it. That’s another play to run
October 28th, 2023 at 1:43 PM ^
These CBS announcers are killing me - first they can't pronounce Fashanu's name properly and then they reference a movie character - Willie Beaman - for Allar?
October 28th, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
Yeah and they also said penn state had a great o-line
October 28th, 2023 at 1:52 PM ^
Remember these are the people saying:
-sign stealing is illegal (it's not)
-weiss is a part of it (law enforcement has denied this directly)
-parroting statements from a PR firm
-getting leaks from within the NCAA contrary to that organization's OWN RULES
October 28th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
Penn State will beat Indiana, but they are not intimidating.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
Happy Valley is much less intimidating during the daylight
October 28th, 2023 at 1:56 PM ^
I have been to many games there and a noon game is a way different atmosphere than a night game white out. It's just another stadium during the day.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
West Virginia got the kind of interception you don't see very often....
October 28th, 2023 at 1:47 PM ^
Announcer totally dropped an F Bomb too!
October 28th, 2023 at 1:49 PM ^
Funky*
October 28th, 2023 at 1:50 PM ^
I think he said "funky" but it's close
October 28th, 2023 at 1:58 PM ^
RGIII would have said fucking interception.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
Shoutout to DG, giving the best analysis on schemes, etc during the game
October 28th, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
If Allar was a 3 star in high school and played exactly the same, PSU fans would be begging for him to be replaced. Sean Clifford was better as a sophomore with a worse team around him.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
Ball didn't get near the line of scrimmage, that was grounding.
Hey, the refs noticed!
October 28th, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
Good, I absolutely thought that was intentional grounding.
Also, PSU's offense is just broken at this point. It's all 15-play drives to move 60 yards.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:47 PM ^
PSU's up 3 and Indiana has played like ass. That team just isn't scary.
October 28th, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
Hope Frames doesn’t hold up those 1 and 3 fingers against Michigan, those are gonna be easy signs to steal
October 28th, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
James Franklin is the most performative rah-rah guy I've seen. He seems to be affable enough that his mediocre coaching gets overlooked but you see him on these sidelines and he looks like a guy who barely studied for the exam and is just trying to pull a gentleman's C in the class.
