Time to End the OT Season - Time to Go Back to 'No Politics'

Submitted by xtramelanin on September 16th, 2020 at 10:19 AM

Mates,

Usually right around the end of July, maybe the start of August the board ends OT season and we get to talking about crazy stuff like....football.  Maybe hockey or baseball, some other sports get mixed in.  We have had the longest OT season ever with hoops getting cancelled and football getting pushed offf (but mercifully on our doorstep).

I thus move the mgobretheren as follows:

Wherefore, it has been a long and exceptionally painful OT season, and

Wherefore, we have all had to deal with an insidious virus and the infinite ways it has affected our lives

And Wherefore, actual college football, dare we way, Michigan college football is on the horizon,

THEREFORE:  for the resumption of peaceful co-existence, the betterment of mankind, and in recognition of Michigan college football be it resolved: OT SEASON IS OVER, effective (when do you want it to end?)....Really, really soon.  Like, today or maybe Friday, something like that.

Happy for the players.  Be safe,

XM

(all in favor, say 'Aye!')

As long as Corona is around and potentially cancelling game/changing the schedule and racial tensions are high and athletes are speaking out, sports and politics will be very hard to separate right now.

It's not like we are debating the Iraq War or WikiLeaks.  Every professional league and ESPN is speaking on race issues and the news around Corona as it effects respective leagues is ongoing.

but imagine the 8 intervening weeks with no more politics here.  calm.  serene.  pleasant.  desperate questions like: what's going on in the submarine?!?  and, is d-caf really going to transfer?!  are far better than, 'are you an [expletive] idiot?!

Far better. MGoBlog used to be my place where I could just read for a while and not think about the real world. I visit less, mostly because no Michigan sports.

But I am quite worried that even with college sports returning, the politics aren't going away. And I used to like talking about politics, but these days all political talk is "are you an [expletive, usually not deleted] idiot?" No thanks.

but, but, but what are all the blog medical, social justice, & ideology experts going to do?

I'm still going to load up on ICHGF stock.... bcuz I suspect there will still be a lot of them staying at Holiday Inn Express.

Don't blame me for your inability to convey your snark clearly.  You made a sarcastic remark that disparaged medical, SJW, and ideology experts all together without making any attempt to show that you're only referring to the "pretend" medical experts.

And since you acknowledge that there are some medical experts on the blog, what do you think of their opinions?  Or did you mean something else that went over my head too?

In any event:

..... i think it might have gone over your head......

I don't think you're "living rent free in anyones head" but more or less people associate you as a hypocrite who posts Breitbart links or other likeminded meme's, say you were just joking and ask why no one can take a joke anymore, disappear when there is pushback and then post this this "come on guys, football is back, no politics" BS when you're a big perpetrator of it to begin with.

Ahhhh par for the course for XM.

One day you're posting Breitbart articles in comments, the next day you're "aww shucks-ing" everybody and asking that we stop talking about politics.

Thanks XM.

I was thinking the same thing ———-then I saw all the “why can’t we have nice things!” and “OSU will crush us!” crap in the thread below and started second guessing myself........
