There are...
...days until the start of the 2019 season. I hope these 235 days drag. I need a long break from this sport. Here is the 2019 schedule in case anyone is interested. We're back to having two bye weeks. I don't know how it works out that some seasons have two bye weeks while others have one. I like the timing of the first one, as it is before a tough road game. The same goes for the second bye week, as it is the week prior to MSU.
Aug. 31 -- Middle Tennessee State
Sept. 7 -- Army
Sept. 14 -- Bye Week
Sept. 21 -- at Wisconsin
Sept. 28 -- Rutgers
Oct. 5 -- Iowa* (Homecoming)
Oct. 12 -- at Illinois
Oct. 19 -- at Penn State
Oct. 26 -- Notre Dame
Nov. 2 -- at Maryland
Nov. 9 -- Bye Week
Nov. 16 -- Michigan State
Nov. 23 -- at Indiana
Nov. 30 -- Ohio State

Hey look, JUST what this place needed after the news of another Michigan assistant coach leaving for OSU.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
I just close my eyes until Michigan Basketball is placed in front of me. The bad man can't hurt me if I temporarily pretend they don't exist.

Men's BBall is great
Baseball is great
And it looks like FB is gonna have an eventful off-season. At least two, maybe 4 or 5, hires coming.
These days, sports and sports news is better than politics news etc., as far as mental opiates go.
Enjoy

I know! Sydney, really! Oh wait there's a time difference there in Australia did you even know Al Washington went to the Buckeyes?
January 8th, 2019 at 11:38 AM ^
Hate that Army game, and at IU before Ohio State.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
There are maybe 2 games on the schedule I'd replace the IU game with before OSU, so it could be much worse.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
Just two? I count 4: Middle TN, Illinois, Rutgers, and Maryland
January 8th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
1. Unless we're going the SEC route it's gonna be a conference game so take MTSU out.
2. I think Maryland > Indiana.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
Can't wait
January 8th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
My sarcasm meter is going crazy after reading your post.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
Season cant get here slow enough.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
Pretty much how I feel. Usually I hate the off season, but I'm so sick of the disappointment anymore. I'm starting to wonder what is the point of getting so worked up about a sport played by young men. A sport that has very little effect on my life. Of course, I say that now while UM is average to above average at best. I imagine if we were on Alabama's level, I'd feel a lot different.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:48 AM ^
Clemson’s level.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:52 AM ^
I'll take either at this point. Both have won multiple national and conference titles within the past ten years while Michigan is going on fifteen years without winning the Big Ten.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:50 AM ^
Sports and especially football are a very "durable good". You're buying the memory. I was at Xxx when Michigan beat xXxX to clinch a B10 title. Unfortunately the durability of Michigan football memories is slowly being eaten away, because we don't win many games that matter in terms of championships or bowls. Very ?.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
Great schedule indeed!
now instead of finishing with 2 losses, we can finish with 4 losses!
January 8th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
I'll take it if we beat OSU.
I was born in the late 70's, so I'm comfortable with multiple loss seasons and losing bowl games, as long as we beat OSU.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
I feel the same, though my post meant to imply that on top of our traditional OSU meltdown and bowl pratfall, we'll now get the satisfaction of adding the traditional post-bye home loss to MSU as well as the inevitable first loss to IU in 32 years.
BPONE now, BPONE forever!
January 8th, 2019 at 11:42 AM ^
I don't see any losses on that schedule!! HA!
GO BLUE!!
January 8th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
What a beautiful schedule.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:45 AM ^
Awfully bold of you to assume we're going to beat Indiana. Aren't you supposed to be a black pit or something??
January 8th, 2019 at 11:47 AM ^
Seems pretty pessimistic.
Wisconsin and PSU games were blowouts last year. No reason to think we'll automatically lose those this year even if they are away.
MSU is trash and will probably continue being trash, and is at home.
Army will likely lose. It may be a tough game, but I'd be fairly surprised if we lost that.
10-2 again is a real possibility.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
Why would MSU being at home make a difference? Harbaugh has never beat them in Ann Arbor.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
and when you use the word never, you mean twice. One being a once in a million dropped punt the other with a third string quarterback and five or six turnovers and Michigan State still scored only 14 points. You're right they own us in Big House
January 8th, 2019 at 11:52 AM ^
You must be a Sparty. are we going to lose that game 4 to 3?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Given its the MSU game, 4-3 would not surprise me in the least. The 4 would come from O'Neill's crew screwing up and giving them an extra point kick after a field goal to win the game.

Username checks out
January 8th, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
Three replies before this post is almost tragic.
January 8th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
Awfully bold of you to assume they won't suffer an L in one of the bye weeks.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:53 PM ^
Might as well put an "L" in front of the Nov. 9 Bye Week while you're at it, BPONE
January 8th, 2019 at 11:44 AM ^
The long break between the end of one season and the beginning of another is one of football's great strengths. We're all tired right now. I'd be happy if there wasn't a single piece of news between now and the beginning of August (except for whatever replacements Harbaugh hires and a couple of more recruit signings, all news will be bad news in that time span).
So time off, without football, allows us rest. As summer drags on we can remember the good, build the anticipation, and once again look forward to football. More than half a year from now.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
You forgot spring hype news. Sean McKeon has turned the corner. Myles Sims is legitimately competing with Lavert Hill for the top CB spot. Dwumfour has put it all together. Freddy Canteen and Shane Morris and Drake Harris and and and.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:49 AM ^
Do one for how many coaches OSU took from us.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Feels like about the same number.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
Or better yet how many more days until they take another coach from us.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:55 AM ^
I'd very much like for the worn-out and board-cluttering preseason "There are ..." posts to disappear from MGoBlog.
I'm OK with this one.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
There are only 2 days til our next game.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
Jordan Poole days until our next game.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
I think we should intentionally lose the Indiana game. Use that week to practice for OSU and play the second string after the first quarter to rest the starters for OSU.
Maybe the football gods are not pleased with our win streak against IU? Maybe if we lose to them we'll finally get to win The Game again.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Sure, why not?
Every other aprooach has failed.
January 8th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
So the football gods are not pleased with our winning streak over Indiana, but they're totally ok with OSU's longer winning streak over Indiana? The football gods seem like dicks
January 8th, 2019 at 2:12 PM ^
They ARE dicks! How can a Michigan fan not know that?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
There’s 14 weeks between Labor Day Weekend and Thanksgiving Weekend. This past year Thanksgiving was on the 22nd. The upcoming season it will be Nov 28. Hence the extra week off.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
thanks for the explanation, I was just about to go looking for one.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:35 PM ^
You're a rock star.
January 8th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
I'm more Ringo than Rock
January 8th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
Going to enjoy this off-season. Needs to last a long time. Next year could be really rough
January 8th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Well yea, you're coaching Kansas...in football...
January 8th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
...and got busted for stealing the trophy.
